With Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opening right now, the Dino-mania is set to spread once again, which is exactly what the developers of Park Management Sim Jurassic World Evolution is hoping for with their upcoming June 12 release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

With players soon able to manage their own park where science goes way further than man should have ever gone, Frontier participated in an AMA on r/xboxone, with three of its developers answering numerous questions. The highlights of which suggest that while it won’t be in at launch, Xbox Play Anywhere could be introduced later. Furthermore, Xbox One X will offer its players the chance to enjoy the game in 4K with HDR. However, it’s not clear whether this will be native 4K.

Finally, Lead Designer Andrew Fletcher believes that even those new to the genre will be able to enjoy the game thanks to a shallow learning curve, and the game gating progression behind dig sites which you’ll need to work up to as you create more and more dinosaurs.

As Jurassic World Evolution’s release date draws closer, the developers have shared some exciting new details about the game through a new entry into their development diary titled ‘Working with Dinosaurs.’ As the title suggests, the video shows the ways in which the player must care for the dinosaurs, and how to achieve progress through the game.

First of all, we learn that players will have to create dinosaurs by acquiring genome data from fossils or dig site. Once the dinosaurs are created, players will have to take care of their specific needs. Additionally, players will have to ensure that the park is safe and that dinosaurs do not escape past the fences. If they do escape, players should try and ensure that the situation is under control as soon as possible. By taking proper care of the dinosaurs and the park, players will gain prestige which will allow them to gain new unlocks and progress further in the game.

You can check out the video below for more information. Jurassic World Evolution is set to release for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on June 12.

Jurassic World: Lost Kingdom isn’t the only new addition to the hit multimedia franchise starring resurrected dinosaurs coming this year. Jurassic World Evolution, a brand new title by Frontier, which sees you in charge of your own Jurassic Park, will be hitting consoles and PC later this year, too.

Ahead of that launch, IGN First has shared a new video of the game, showing the first 20 minutes of gameplay for the title- narrated by none other than Jeff “Life Finds A Way” Goldblum, which really already makes this video better than at least Jurassic Park 3.

Jurassic World Evolution will hand players the keys to their own park, in the vein of something like Zoo Tycoon or Roller Coaster Tycoon, but with dinosaurs- I can’t see this going wrong at all. The game is due out next month, on June 12, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Make sure to watch the gameplay video for yourself below.

Players of Frontier’s massively multiplayer space shooter sim Elite Dangerous will soon be able to get themselves a taste of the planned season three, when Beyond: Chapter One‘s open beta goes live later this month. Among other things, the beta will let you play in Wing Missions, which are team based objectives players from around the world can participate in.

In addition, the beta brings with it the Chieftain, an Alliance Warship, and multiple gameplay and graphical improvements across the board as well, including better rendering technology for distant planets, better engineering mechanics, rebalanced mission rewards, as well as a re-tweaked Crime and Punishment system to add layers of risk and reward.

While the final update is meant to go live as a free download for all players of the game across PS4, Xbox One, and PC, for now, the beta will be available starting January 25 on all platforms.

THE RETURN OF ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON.

Remember RollerCoaster Tycoon? Back in the day, it was a premier series of games for the PC, which put players in charge of building and managing their own theme park. Players around the world lost hundreds of hours into managing their own theme parks, and this revolution was kicked off by Frontier, known more recently for Elite: Dangerous and Screamride.

Well, they’re going to be bringing back the theme park simulation genre too- Atari still owns the rights to Roller Coaster Tycoon, so they’re doing the next big thing. They’re creating a spiritual sequel, a sequel in all but name. Today, at the PC Gaming Show at E3, Frontier confirmed the development of Planet Coaster: Simulation Evolved for the PC, which looks like the next generation theme park simulator we have all been waiting for for so long.

As of right now, it doesn’t have a release date, and not much info beyond the trailer you see above, but stay tuned, and we will keep you posted.

Game of Galactic Thrones.

Frontier announced today that their space sim, Elite: Dangerous, will be getting its third major free update. It’s called Powerplay, and it is available to all players, absolutely free of charge, now.

Powerplay will let players ally themselves to pone of multiple factions vying for control of the galaxy, and they can see influence the decisions that the entity makes as a whole with their own unique decisions, even as they find their own story in turn influenced by the larger story of the faction that they have joined. Joining with an equipment is heavily incentivized, too. Players are rewarded with valuable perks, reputation bonuses and unique equipment for their allegiance as they defend their territory and conquer human space.

Powerplay is just the headlining feature of this new update, however. The full list of improvements that this title is getting with the new patch includes:

An enhanced mission system with new objectives and new ways to play.

Three new ships: the Lakon Diamondback Scout, Lakon Diamondback Explorer and the Imperial Courier.

Drones for cargo collection, fuel trading and prospecting.

A new illustrated GalNet newsfeed, accessible directly in players’ ship UI.

High and low intensity mining sites, adding risk to mining and increasing potential rewards.

New minable commodities.

An updated bounty system.

Upgraded UI and animated emblems for ranking up.

Numerous other improvements to gameplay and performance.

Elite: Dangerous is currently available on PC and Mac. A version for the Xbox One is anticipated some time later this year. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information.

Frontier sweetening the deal for players purchasing the game through its website.

If you already own Elite: Dangerous, whether you bought it from Frontier’s online store, or whether you were one of the many who backed the game on Kickstarter, then you will be getting a free key to unlock the game on Steam as well. Speaking on the Frontier forum, community manager Edward Lewis urged potential customers to buy the space game from EliteDangerous.com rather than Steam because that way the developer gets all the cash, rather than losing out 30% in royalties to Valve.

That said, he did recognize the convenience of Steam for PC players, so to sweeten the deal, he promised that anyone who bought the game from the online store will get a free copy of the Steam version as well. Essentially, this way your can have your cake, and eat it too.

“We always appreciate it when you buy direct from our store because it means we can put more into supporting and developing Elite: Dangerous,” Lewis said.

“But we know a number of long-time players and backers like to play through Steam and we think it’s fair everyone has that option, not just new players.”

Elite: Dangerous is available on PC and Mac, and will also be coming to Xbox One soon, with a PS4 version promised for some time later. In GamingBolt’s review last year, Alex Jackson felt that while the game might hold appeal to the seasoned veteran of the space sim genre, it was far too obtuse and uninviting to the casual player.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information.

Frontier’s hit space sim game, Elite: Dangerous, was out for PCs late last year, but until now, you had to play it using its own proprietary client; now, the game is available on Steam, meaning you can keep it consolidated with all of your other PC games. If you already own the game, you will be given the option to add it to your library on Steam as well.

Some other good news accompanying this announcement- the long promised and awaited Mac version of the game, currently in beta, has been finally confirmed to be out soon, and when it releases, users will get it for free if they already own the PC version (and vice versa), since the game is a Steam Play title.

The title will cost you $59.99 on Steam, so it’s basically a full price game 9though at least it’s likelier to go on sale now that it is on Steam).

The Wings update for Elite: Dangerous is now available- adding playable ships, AI groups, and completely overhauling the communication UI and interface, it promises to be one of the more substantial ones the game has seen since its launch late last year.

The main upshot of this new update is improved and more seamless multiplayer- unlike before, all you have to do is shoot out a beacon, and players in the vicinity can see it and drop down to it- at that point, you can do missions together, and share in the bounties and rewards.

And while we still do not have a third person mode, you can finally see your ship via a flyable debug camera, which can be accessed by pressing CTRL+ALT+SPACE.

Apart from all the big changes, Frontier has also worked on addressing the numerous audio and sound glitches that plagued the game. There may be no sound in space, but no sound or bad sound in a video game just sounds boring, you know.

Stay tuned for more coverage.

So says the developer.

One of the major announcements of yesterday was that Elite: Dangerous, the hit PC space sim, would also be coming to Xbox One this summer. While it was viewed as a major coup for Microsoft, the obvious question that followed was: but what about PS4?

Apparently, PS4 is not forgotten either. In fact, the developer confirmed that the game will becoming to PS4 eventually, but that for now, they just want to focus on the Xbox One version. “Down the line we will support more, including PS4. The XB1 is a timed exclusive,” Frontier’s David Braben said.

As for when it will be coming to the PlayStation 4, we don’t know yet, and the developer never said, though it’s not hard to see it showing up on the system within the year.

Although it will make for a very interesting discussion one day as to why they chose to go with Xbox one first, over the PS4.
