The Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions will still release this Summer with 11 bit studios committed to delivering a "polished product."

Frostpunk 2 received a massive content update that added Serenity Mode, Tales from the Frostland, district-based temperature settings, and more. However, as developer 11 bit studios notes, “Our journey is far from over.” It confirmed in an updated roadmap that the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions are still on track for launch this Summer.

The developer is “doing everything to deliver a polished product” for console players at launch, but current owners can expect even more content and improvements. A major content update will be available before every DLC launch for free. However, it’s also delaying the release of the second paid DLC Aurora to 2026 to accommodate the new features and ensure quality. The first, Spectrum, is still planned for this Autumn.

Frostpunk 2 is currently playable on PC – check out our review of the launch version. Though it received critical praise and neared 600,000 units sold as of April, fan response has been mixed due to the change in scale and a heavier focus on city-building.

Spectrum, the first paid DLC, launches in Autumn 2025, followed by the second DLC, Aurora. The third unnamed DLC will launch in 2026.

Several months after the last big update for 11 bit studios’ Frostpunk 2, the developer has posted an updated roadmap. The next major content update goes live on May 8th and will “adjust the City’s management, paying homage to the order established by the first New Londoners.”

It also confirmed that the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions would launch this Summer. Autumn sees the arrival of the first paid DLC, Spectrum, touted to provide more details about “ourselves and the people of our great city in more ways than one…” The second paid DLC, Aurora, is also coming this year, while the third, as-of-yet-unnamed DLC, arrives next year.

Aside from the May 8th update, this Spring also seemingly has other improvements inbound. April 24th marks the seventh anniversary of the first game’s launch.

Stay tuned for more details in the coming months. Frostpunk 2 is available for PC and has sold over 500,000 copies since launch. Despite relatively strong critical acclaim (check out our review, where we gave it a nine out of ten), it’s received criticism from fans due to performance issues and fundamental gameplay differences over the original.
