Between new trailers for highly anticipated titles, potential release date announcements, and other surprises, the week looks packed.

Depending on your hemisphere, the Summer of Gaming is technically ongoing and what better way to wrap it up than with Gamescom? Opening Night Live is already looking packed with announcements; the Future Games Show offers promise; even Xbox’s two days of broadcast are chock-full of big-name games. With so much to look forward to in the coming months and beyond, what are the biggest announcements and reveals you can expect from Gamescom? Let’s dive into 15 of them here, starting with…

Silent Hill f Trailer

We’ve seen and heard a lot about Silent Hill f, whether it’s the heavier focus on combat (and even stat upgrades) or the multiple endings. And yet, given the proclivities of writer Ryukishi07 and artist kera towards the unsettling, it feels like we’ve barely even scratched the surface. A new trailer debuts at Gamescom Opening Night Live, and it’s also scheduled for day 2 of Xbox’s broadcast. Maybe some of that insanity will break loose before it launches next month.

ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X Release Date and Prices

If the rumors are true, Microsoft will announce the release date for the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X on August 20th, with pre-orders opening on the same day. Both handheld PCs will reportedly launch on October 16th for €599 and €899, respectively. It’s plausible enough, and hopefully, it goes the extra mile on really selling us on their features.

Hollow Knight: Silksong (Anything)

Doubters in shambles, once again? Potentially, because Hollow Knight: Silksong might get a release date announcement, maybe even a new trailer. Not only is it playable at both the Xbox and Nintendo booths, but Team Cherry has explicitly stated that it will launch before the ROG Xbox Ally. Plans could always change, but for now, the stars may finally align on one of the most anticipated games of all time.

Resident Evil Requiem

An “exclusive” new look at the next big title in the celebrated horror series? Don’t mind if we do. Set for August 19th at Gamescom Opening Night Live, there’s no telling what secrets it could reveal. And while a playable demo will be available on the show floor for attendees, known leaker Aesthetic Gamer alleges new screenshots, gameplay, and preview impressions on August 20th. Suffice it to say that you should prepare for an influx of new information (and maybe a Leon reveal?) regardless.

Ninja Gaiden 4’s New Trailer

One of my most anticipated games of the year, Ninja Gaiden 4, has looked absolutely incredible in nearly every showing. Would a new trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live really offer more, especially after all the gameplay and previews? Probably not, but some more stylish, combat is a guarantee, and that’s all I can ask for.

Where Winds Meet

With its final beta wrapped, the odds of Everstone Studio’s massive open-world action RPG receiving a release date are greater than before. And what better place than Gamescom, where it was first announced about three years ago? All the pieces are in place, and based on everything we’ve seen thus far – the combat, the world size, the attention to detail – it could be another breakout hit for NetEase.

Honor of Kings: World Trailer

By comparison, Honor of Kings: World is in a somewhat weird spot. It saw some updates earlier this year from GDC, including solid-looking gameplay, but there’s been very little since. Regardless, with a new trailer at Opening Night Live and a playable demo on the show floor, maybe Tencent has a big announcement lined up, like a release window or even a beta.

The Division 2’s “Big Project” Announcement

As other live service titles falter or fall by the wayside, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is chugging along just fine. Massive has some pretty significant panels planned for Gamescom week, but we’re most interested in the “big project” announcement for the looter shooter. A big new expansion could be it, especially after the launch of Battle for Brooklyn. Here’s hoping it offers a brand-new region to explore and expands on the end-game further.

Crimson Desert Gameplay

Speaking of long-delayed, Crimson Desert was pushed from late 2025 to Q1 2026, but it’s still on track for a playable demo at Gamescom. New gameplay also wouldn’t be surprising, either at Opening Night Live or Future Games Show, but Pearl Abyss could release it online during the week to appease fans who can’t go hands-on. A release date reveal is unlikely, especially at this point, but at the very least, we’ll get to see how much further it’s progressed since the last gameplay showing.

Phantom Blade Zero’s New Trailer

Perhaps the most high-profile title at the Future Games Show on August 20th, Phantom Blade Zero is set to receive a new trailer. But it already received some extensive footage recently, so what gives? S-Game previously confirmed that attendees could play an hour-long demo on the show floor. Maybe this is an announcement for the long-sought public demo? It would certainly warrant a spot like this and, if nothing else, build on the hype even further.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond’s Release Date

Predicting Nintendo’s next move is always challenging, especially when it comes to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, a project that’s been in the works since 2019. Nevertheless, it has reiterated a launch this year and with a playable demo for the title confirmed at Gamescom, a release date announcement seems all but a given. Whether it will happen at Opening Night Live is another question entirely.

Little Nightmares 3 Returns to the Carnevale

The other high-profile title appearing at the Future Games Show is Supermassive Games’ Little Nightmares 3. We already know the release date, and if anything, keeping much under wraps as possible would be fitting. That may explain why it’s venturing back to the Carnevale level from the Little Nightmares Showcase, offering up a familiar setting but with new thrills. Either way, we can’t wait to see what’s in store.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando

Where in the world has Toxic Commando been since its announcement in 2023? Granted, Focus Entertainment said it would launch sometime this year, but there’s little else besides. That doesn’t mean closed playtests haven’t been underway, as evidenced by a leak last July. Saber Interactive has a lot on its plate lately, but if Toxic Commando does appear at, say, Opening Night Live, an open beta announcement is the very least it could offer.

Dying Light: The Beast

Techland’s sequel isn’t just about freerunning and those nerve-shredding nights, it’s dialing up the splatter, too. The studio is touting far more realistic dismemberment and damage modeling, and a fresh gameplay slice is slated for the Xbox Gamescom showcase ahead of launch on September 19 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC, with PS4 and Xbox One versions following later this year.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Set to appear during the Xbox Showcase at Gamescom 2025, the next Onimusha is poised for a proper reveal with new details and footage. Expect a roughly 20-hour adventure that returns to classic, stage-by-stage progression and tells a standalone story, rather than an open-world follow-up to earlier entries.

Black Myth: Wukong — DLC Tease

As Black Myth: Wukong arrives on Xbox Series X|S on August 20, all eyes are on Opening Night Live for what looks like the game’s first DLC reveal. The timing suggests an add-on targeting a 2026 window, while the base game remains available on PS5 and PC.

Low and Alone will be returning to the creepy Carnevale, and who knows what horrors they'll encounter in a desperate bid for survival.

Alongside Phantom Blade Zero, Supermassive Games’ Little Nightmares 3 will appear at the Future Games Show on August 20th as part of Gamescom. The announcement tweet teased revisiting the “funfair,” and over on Instagram, Bandai Namco outright confirmed it was the Carnevale.

For those who missed the first-ever Little Nightmares Showcase, this is a twisted carnival-like location. As Low and Alone explore the grounds, they must contend with hunchback figures that can’t see very well and living puppets, which will constantly pursue them until their heads are smashed. Some sections involve using the “call” ability to lure a hunchback away, while others involve stealth.

The gameplay walkthrough ends with the duo on the back of a rollercoaster. Perhaps the Future Games Show trailer picks up at the same point and ramps up the tension further? Time will tell, so stay tuned.

Little Nightmares 3 launches on October 10th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition goes live on the same day, but those who pre-order the third game can access the former now at no additional cost.

The fast-paced hack-and-slash title will also have a one-hour demo for attendees of the trade fair from August 20th to 24th.

Gamescom Opening Night Live isn’t the only showcase to look forward to next week. Along with Xbox hosting dedicated broadcasts (with the ROG Xbox Ally’s release date reportedly to be revealed), there’s the Future Games Show on August 20th. Streaming at 2 PM PT, it will feature over 50 titles, including S-Game’s Phantom Blade Zero.

The Wuxia-inspired hack-and-slash title received some extensive new gameplay and impressions lately, but it’s due for a new trailer during the showcase. S-Game previously confirmed that it would be playable for attendees from August 20th to 24th, with a one-hour demo highlighting the level design and new boss battles.

Perhaps the new trailer will announce a date for the public demo, which was announced in 2023 and delayed to an unknown date. Time will tell, so stay tuned. Phantom Blade Zero launches in 2026 for PS5 and PC, and promises 20 to 30 hours of playtime for the main story alone. Head here for even more details on what to expect.

Touted as the "most ambitious show yet," the Summer Showcase will feature "world premieres, exclusive trailers," and more.

The Future Games Show’s Spring Showcase had a packed line-up last month, but its Summer Showcase looks to go even bigger. Airing on June 7th, GamesRadar confirmed “world premieres, exclusive trailers, and brand new game demos from some of the industry’s most exciting and creative studios.”

Which sounds about what you would expect. However, content director Dan Dawkins called this the “most ambitious show yet” and will continue to “spotlight the most exciting and creative upcoming games.”

We can expect more details about titles appearing at the Summer Showcase in the coming weeks. The Spring Showcase offered a spread of titles including The Alters, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Baby Steps, Atomfall, FBC: Firebreak, People Can Fly’s Lost Rift, and much more. Maybe we’ll get release dates for some of these titles.

The Future Game Show’s Summer Showcase is only one of several events over that weekend. There’s also the Summer Game Fest on June 6th, while the Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct are scheduled for June 8th (though you can watch some new gameplay for the latter here). Stay tuned for more details on all the big announcements this June.

After announcing it in 2019, Nightdive Studios has also confirmed renaming the title to System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster.

Years after its initial announcement, Nightdive Studios’ System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition is due to receive a release date at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase on March 20th. The developer also confirmed that the title has been renamed to System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster.

Considering the original, developed by Irrational Games and Looking Glass Studios, launched in August 1999, the remaster could arrive this year. It’s being developed for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Nightdive is no stranger to the franchise – following System Shock: Enhanced Edition, it remade the classic in 2023 to significant praise. The 25th Anniversary Edition won’t feature as extensive an overhaul to the visuals and gameplay, but it will run in 4K/120 FPS and Ultrawide screen support. It will also update the cutscenes and include numerous fan mods (including high-resolution textures).

Stay tuned for more details and updates. Check out our review for System Shock remake in the meantime.

The upcoming showcase will emanate from GDC and feature new trailers (including world premieres) and "exclusive game demos."

GamesRadar has announced that the Future Games Show returns on March 20th from an unlikely location: the Game Developers Conference (GDC). The Spring Showcase will feature new trailers for triple-A and indie titles, world premieres and “exclusive game demos.”

Though it’s yet to be confirmed which titles are appearing, content director of games video and events Daniel Dawkins said, “The Future Games Show’s mission is to help its viewers discover the best new games, with a special focus on the off-radar AAs, sleeper hits, and innovative indies.” However, don’t expect Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong to suddenly appear and drop a release date after everything that’s happened.

After the Spring Showcase, an FGS Live from GDC stream will take place the following day. It promises more trailers, developer interviews and even some news from the show floor, so stay tuned for updates.

The Game Developers Conference runs from March 17th to 21st. Alongside talks by various studios, it has the Game Developers Choice Awards on March 19th. Thus far, Astro Bot, Animal Well and Black Myth: Wukong are leading the nominees.
Focused on the titular squirrel, players rampage through an urban sandbox after escaping a secret facility.
Players won't know their backstory when starting but can discover clues, with Rebellion also confirming accessibility options.

After an extensive showcase during Xbox @ Gamescom’s livestream, Rebellion’s Atomfall received a new gameplay trailer at the Future Games Show. It sees associate head of design Ben Fisher discussing the survival action title, complete with new gameplay. Check it out below.

When you look at Atomfall, other post-apocalyptic titles like Metro and Fallout may come to mind. That’s intentional, with Fisher also noting BioShock as an influence. Players awaken in a mysterious bunker and venture into a quarantine zone following the 1957 Windscale nuclear disaster in the UK. However, their identity remains a mystery.

Various clues about your backstory await to be discovered throughout the world. You can find and craft gear and weapons while scrounging for resources. Beware of those within the zone – not everyone wants to talk peacefully. Fisher notes that the team approaches difficulty differently and confirms accessibility options.

Atomfall launches in March 2025 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. It’s also coming to Game Pass on day one.

A new gameplay trailer reveals four new crew members, who specialize in charming, knocking out, and beating up guards in heists.

After its announcement in 2022, details have been scant on Pocketwatch Games’ Monaco 2, the follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed co-op heist title. However, a new gameplay trailer emerged during the Future Games Show @ Gamescom, announcing its launch for PC in 2025. Check it out below.

Compared to the original, Monaco 2 offers new crew members with unique abilities and roles. Some include Cosmo, the Socialist, who uses her charms to distract guards. Siciro, the Surgeon, specializes in knocking them out covertly, whether up close or at range.

Jobbie is the Inside Man, capable of hacking security systems and teleporting past tripwires. Finally, there’s Una, the Brute, taking down guards with bare-knuckle brawling, which is essential for escaping.

Overall, the sequel maintains the chaos and high stakes of the original, while the new 3D style looks sleek. Stay tuned for more details on Monaco 2′s mechanics and other rogues in the coming months.
