Game Informer’s cover for their October issue will be the upcoming, incredibly promising looking open world RPG by Guerrilla Games, Horizon: Zero Dawn. That means that Game Informer gets a sick and incredible looking new Horizon cover (really, Sony should look into commissioning that artwork and making it the official boxart for the game), and extended coverage for the game in this issue.

The coverage includes more information about the game’s story, characters, lore, world, side content, and mechanics- so we should be learning quite a whole lot more about Horizon in the coming few weeks, it sounds like.

Horizon: Zero Dawn was originally scheduled for a release this year, before it was delayed into February next year. It will now be launching on February 28 in 2017, exclusively on the PlayStation 4. You can check out the cool new cover for Game Informer for yourself below, and you can let us know what you think in the comments section.

Game Informer have revealed their covers for the August issue, and there will be not one, but two games that they will be celebrating with this issue: Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, naturally, because any post E3 coverage has to include that game, and also, Sony Santa Monica’s new God of War.

“To celebrate the annual gaming extravaganza, we commissioned the talented artist Alex Griendling to create two unique covers starring two of the biggest stars of E3 2016 – Kratos and Link,” Game Informer said, and indeed, the two covers they have for this month look absolutely great- you can check them out below.

Both, God of War and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild look absolutely incredible- they were among our E3 Games of the Show, with Zelda winning top honors on this site (and on most other sites too, it sounds like). Both are due out some time in 2017- God of War exclusively on PS4, while Zelda on Wii U and Nintendo NX.

And regardless of the cover story, we will be learning more about the game at E3 next week, so stay tuned to GamingBolt and we will have more for you as and when it comes.

Far Cry 4 is due later this year for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
A quick look at the next issue of Game Informer

Earlier today on their website, Game Informer revealed the cover and feature of their September print issue, which will be Dragon Age: Inquisition. Inquisition, the third installment in the Dragon Age series is set to release in Q3 of 2014 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

A quick glimpse at the game’s plot is given to readers on the website: Players will find themselves at the head of an organization called The Inquisition, charged with combating corruption and evil in the realm of Thedas, a land which has been devastated by war and political tomfoolery. A large hole opens in the sky, out of which hoards of demons emerge forcing the intervention of the inquisition.

Dragon Age: Inquisition has been promised to be much larger than the previous installments, with one map in particular being four or five times larger than the entire setting of the first game in the series. This promises for a massive story, with plenty of exploration and side questing.

The September Game Informer will also feature several interest pieces, among them an interview with Brian Fargo, the name behind Wasteland, and take a look at the upcoming competition between Skylanders and Disney Infinity.

Yes, even longer than the GTA IV story they did 4 years ago.

Game Informer writers have been teasing their upcoming cover story – which will be revealed tomorrow – will be their longest cover story yet. Even longer than the cover story they did for Grand Theft Auto IV, which the magazine covered 4 years ago.

As seen on NeoGAF, Internet blogger Superannuation decided to ask Editor in Chief of Game Informer Andrew Reiner over whether they would be detailing Bungie’s Destiny or Wolfenstein, which Bethesda is rumoured to be working on and teasing over at Gamespot. Either that or Prey 2.

Reiner responded that neither of those games will be their cover story – which makes you think that it could just be something simple like Call of Duty: Ghosts or even Respawn Entertainment’s next game. What do you think it could be? Let us know below in the comments. Meanwhile, we’ll keep you updated on the status of all of the above in the coming days.

Actually a modification of concept art for Half Life 2: Episode 3.

A cover for the next Game Informer has been doing the rounds. Just that it was located on 4Chan should be enough to tell you to treat it with skepticism – but of course, how would you actually know whether it was a fake or not?

By looking back on stories from less than a year regarding Half Life 2: Episode 3 concept art work. A batch of artworks had surfaced by way of an anonymous source, who also claim they were from 2008. In other words, there’s no guarantee the final game looks like this.

Heck, the series itself has probably gone in an entirely different direction already.

But one artwork sticks out. Compare the above supposed Game Informer cover to one of the artworks shown below:

So remember: Half Life 3 (or for that matter, Half Life 2: Episode 3) is still under wraps. And there’s no indication as to when it could release. And really, by this point, you should stop expecting it to just appear and live your life. As they said in the old days: “When it’s done.”

UPDATE: This score is fake as confirmed by GI’s Andrew Reiner on Twitter.

Game Informer’s review score for Visceral Games’ Dead Space 3 has been leaked online. What did the vaunted publication give the survival horror action extravaganza?

Apparently, “only” a 7.75 out of 10.

While the game was praised for its improvements, along with it’s “satisfying shooting and loveable new weapon crafting system”, some parts of the game are apparently not as polished as the previous two entries.

And as suspected, the “general atmosphere of the game is not nearly as creepy and terrifying as previous games” with the human fights feeling tacked on and badly played out. Co-op s at least fun but feels a bit different than the typical experience. The replay value has been related as moderately low.

So do we have to say it? We’ll say: Not every game needs to score a perfect 9 or 10 to be entertaining. If you enjoyed the originals for their horror, then you might be out of luck but Dead Space 3 at least appears to be a solid shooter.

We’ll know more as other reviews come to light in the next few days.

Such is the gaming industry today – and the sheer overwhelming enormity of the hype surrounding Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V, the next edition of it’s infamous sandbox game – that even the media featuring it prominently gets hyped to the skies. So we have Game Informer who not only revealed the cover for their December issue, but are now revealing various ways readers can purchase it digitally. And really, with over 18 pages of information and screenshots, it’s a given that they’ll be living up to hype.

Essentially, GI will breakdown the issue on November 8th in the morning, including the cover art. The digital edition will then release on iPad, Android tablets, PC and Mac, with print issues arriving on November 16th for subscribers and newstands alike.

Digital subscribers can view all three digital editions, purchase individual issues $4.99 or subscribe for $19.99 to receive their copies. GI Digital is purportedly available worldwide and takes all kinds of credit cards so no worries.

So cue the hype wagon and let’s get this countdown rolling.
