Loan games out for a limited time to friends.

One of the things that Microsoft’s Xbox One DRM did get a bit of traction for was its Family Policy. Under this, 10 users could share the game library off of a single Xbox One console. This was supposed to be one of the defining traits of the system, making it more open than Steam.

However, if a recent discovery by NeoGAF is anything, Steam might be getting its own form of sharing in the next beta update. A user found code for the same which seems to indicate that a share game library is in the works.

Open this image in a new tab to see it clearly.

The line , “Just so you know, your games are currently in use by %borrower%. Playing now will send %borrower% a notice that it’s time to quit” indicates that you’ll be able to loan games to friends. When you do, the games become inaccessible in your library until they return them back. However, it might only be for a limited period under which games can be lent.

Take this with a grain of salt, as usual.
