This is turning into a PR disaster.

Last week, GAME UK canceled multiple pre-orders for Fallout 4, including those made for the Pip Boy Edition. Some of these pre-orders had been made as far back as June, which was when the game was originally announced. However, citing issues with transactions going through with the payment method on record, quite a few customers got emails telling them that their orders were canceled.

They were not happy about this.

GAME has had a history of these kinds of issues- just this year, customers had problems with pre-orders for Metal gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Super Mario Maker, also two highly anticipated games. In those situations, GAME washed its hands off of the responsibility, blaming the banks and payment vendors like PayPal.

In this case, however, GAME is confirming that it is getting in touch with all customers who pre-ordered the Pip-Boy edition, and says it has enough stock to fulfill those original orders. Speaking on Facebook, GAME said, “We would ask that if you have not been able to replace your order by phone yet, don’t worry your order is still reserved and being held for you in our distribution centre. We want to assure you that we are working through your requests and will get to your order as soon as we possibly can to ensure you receive your Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition.”

In a statement to GameSpot, the retailer said its customer service team has been “working hard to contact all impacted customers to ensure that as many orders as possible are fulfilled for launch day.”

“At every stage, we have reassured our customers that their Pip-Boys have been reserved for them … Each customer has been, or will be, contacted individually to reprocess their order and we have extended the opening hours of our distribution centre and customer services to facilitate this.

“We have endeavoured to deliver all pre-orders in time for launch day. Getting in touch with customers individually takes time, and due to us being unable to outreach to some customers just yet, there will be a short delay for a few of them but they will still receive their order should they still wish.”

Hopefully they resolve these issues soon- in the meanwhile, I recommend you guys stick to Amazon for pre-orders if you are in the UK- GAME has proven itself unreliable multiple times now.

GAME apologizes for the error.

Earlier this week, GAME in UK caused a bit of a stir when it listed the release date of The Last of Us Remastered, the PlayStation 4 enhanced port of Naughty Dog’s blockbuster hit released last year exclusively on the PlayStation 3, to be June 13. That would put the release date to be next week, and right in the middle of E3 week. While it isn’t unlikely, it would still at least be very, very improbable.

As it turns out, the listing was a mistake, and GAME has since apologized for the error. Posting on their Twitter page, they said ‘Apologises everyone about #TheLastOfUs Release Date! #MissPrint #OverEagerStaffMember We will update you when we get an official date.’

Of course, said intimation of the official release date shouldn’t be that far off, with E3 next week, and Sony’s press showing on the evening of June 9. Stay tuned to GamingBolt as we bring you the latest and greatest from the event, and on the release date of this eagerly anticipated remaster.

GAME UK has announced that it will be shutting down the Xbox Store in London at the Boxpark area in Shoreditch this month itself. The store, admittedly, was a short-term trial thing for both GAME and Xbox, so we had to see this coming. It originally opened its doors in June 2013 and was exclusively a store for all things Xbox, with pushing the Xbox One being its main aim.

GAME insists that the experiment was a success. “The short-term contract location for the dedicated Xbox store has given us real insight into what consumers expect from the next generation of retail,” said GAME stores director Dave Howard.

“We have implemented Xbox sections in all of our stores – we have taken all the best of the Xbox store into over 320 GAME stores around the UK. Customers really showed an appetite for hands-on experience, interactive displays and a way to digitally access Xbox Live content. We will continue to innovate our stores with Microsoft.”

What are your thoughts on this matter? Let us know in the comments section below.

3 million in back-rent.

GAME UK has lost what has been deemed to be a landmark case and must now pay hefty dues as a result. While they are currently appealing against the verdict of the case in higher courts, if the decision were to remain the same, they would have to pay several landlords £3 million in back-rent for which, the case claims, they were already accountable for. This goes against the general rule that companies don’t have to pay rent while proceedings are active.

“The real ramification of this decision is, however, that it will have a significant financial impact on all landlords, tenants and insolvency practitioners involved in current and future business insolvencies in this country,” Game UK said in a statement.

“The previous system was deeply unsatisfactory for both landlords and insolvency practitioners and this judgement provides a workable, common sense resolution to the payment of rent as an administration expense,” said Hammerson’s head of credit control Duncan Grubb. “This judgement will significantly change the relationship between landlords and insolvency practitioners, and will hopefully lead to more collaboration when dealing with critical situations.

“Corporate restructuring will now be focused purely on trading patterns and the viability of the ongoing business, rather than on rent free periods from landlords provided by a legal loophole.”

Stay tuned, we’ll keep you in the loop as more details come our way.

Thanks, Retail Week, MCV

Titanfall beta keys going for £3,500 on eBay.

The Titanfall beta is currently up and running for PC and Xbox One, and Respawn Entertainment took a random approach to deciding who gets in rather than by first-come, first-serve. Nonetheless, it seems that if you pre-order Titanfall for Xbox One at GAME UK, you’ll pick up a code for the console’s beta.

This was discovered after some one pre-ordered the game and immediately received a beta code for doing so. GAME UK didn’t announce the offer but latter confirmed to OXM that it was real. Quantities are going fast though, so act now if you want a chance to get in.

If that weren’t enough, people are currently selling off their beta keys for Titanfall for as high as £3,500 on eBay. Check out the image below if you don’t believe us.

Stay tuned for our beta impressions in the coming days. Titanfall will be arriving for Xbox One and PC on March 11th in North America and March 14th in Europe, with the Xbox 360 version arriving on March 25th/28th in NA/EU.

Square Enix will be releasing the final chapter of the FFXIII trilogy with Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII on February 14th in Europe. However, if you head to select GAME retail stores on February 13th, you’ll have a special hour in which you can purchase the game early.

And yes, that special hour begins at 13:00 PM (1:00 PM).

GAME director Charlotte Knight stated that, “We’re thrilled to be part of such a unique event. We pride ourselves on bringing the best opportunities to our community throughout the UK – with the chance to get the game at this exclusive one off event, as well as the many prizes on offer, this is not one to be missed.”

Taking place across 13 GAME stores, the main event will be held at GAME in Hamleys of Regent Street, where producer Yoshinori Kitatse and game design director Yuji Abe will be around to sign copies as long as limited stocks last. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII releases on February 11th in North America for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Sony’s PlayStation 4 launches in Europe in a few hours, and if you haven’t pre-ordered one for yourself yet, the chances of you finding one are hilariously low. Well, or so we thought. Game UK has come to the rescue! They’ve announced that they will in fact have additional launch day PS4 stock, so you can walk in and pick one up even if you didn’t pre-order, assuming you’re fast on the uptake.

Charlotte Knight, Category Director at GAME says: “Demand for PlayStation 4 has been phenomenal and we’re gearing up for an incredible launch with more than 300 stores opening at midnight. On top of all that, we’re delighted that we’re able to bring additional stock to the UK market and make a limited number of additional PlayStation 4 bundles available at launch.

We’re expecting these bundles and all accessories to fly off the shelves and so if you want to get your hands on a PlayStation 4 at launch, you need to get online now or go to one of our stores from midnight!”

Only the Killzone Mega Packs will be available, though, and in limited quantities.

The long rumored PlayStation 4 bundle with the PlayStation Vita has finally materialized, and it will be expensive as all hell. The so called ‘Ultimate Bundle,’ which includes Sony’s newest console and its beleaguered handheld, will set consumers back by as much as £599.96, GAME UK has confirmed.

While the cost of entry is unbelievably steep, the bundle does seem to be extremely good value. You get not only the two latest PlayStation systems (which interface with each other so well), but also Knack, Lego Marvel Heroes, Tearaway, and LittleBigPlanet. While the PS4 games (like all of its library) are a bit on the meh side the Vita games on offer are absolutely brilliant.

In addition to all this, you also get a 16GB Memory Card for the Vita (meaning it won’t be useless!), along with a fourteen day trial of PlayStation Plus.

So all in all, it really lives up the ‘Ultimate’ part of its name, though one does wish that ultimate things weren’t so pricey. Oh well.

Chief digital officer of the UK retail Ian Chambers reports a "massive turnout" across 300 retail chains.

The Xbox One’s launch has been fairly successful thus far, with UK retailer GAME reporting to VG247 that the number of consoles sold will easily surpass that of the Xbox 360 when it first launched.

Chief digital officer Ian Chambers stated that, “Last night was incredible. You could almost taste the excitement – gamers had been waiting for Xbox One for over eight years and we saw a massive turnout at the midnight openings at more than 300 GAME stores across the UK.

“We’ve seen record pre-order numbers for the new generation consoles and looking at the initial response it’s clear that sales will easily surpass that delivered at the Xbox 360 launch. There is still huge demand and if you pre-order now we can still get your Xbox One to you in time for Christmas, so don’t miss out.

“The first of the new generation consoles has set the bar high and along with our customers we can’t wait to get to grips with everything the Xbox One has to offer.”

The PlayStation 4 launched in North America on November 15th and also saw a stellar response, selling 1 million units within its first 24 hours on sale. It will be arriving in Europe on November 29th. Till then, what are your thoughts about the Xbox One’s launch?

The PlayStation 4 is slowly but surely seeping out into the public, even as the global launch is mere days away (or mere weeks, if you’re in Europe). For those in the UK who need to wait till November 29th, retailer GAME has some PlayStation 4 kiosks unpacked and ready to go according to a series of tweets.

It’s not confirmed just which retail outlets will have these kiosks but it’ll offer a taste of the new generation ahead of the PlayStation 4’s launch.

The PS4 will be launching November 15th in North America and November 29th in Europe. Japan will need to wait a bit longer as the console launches in February 2014. Launch titles include exclusives like Killzone: Shadow Fall and Knack along with free to play titles such as DC Universe Online and Blacklight: Retribution. Have you pre-ordered your own console or will you be camping out till midnight to get one? Let us know in the comments below.
