“We have reached the limit of our ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalog; however, Games with Gold will continue to include exciting Xbox One titles and exclusive savings each month,” says the email. “This will not impact any Xbox 360 games that you downloaded before October 2022”.

Despite the phasing out of Xbox 360 games as part of its monthly lineup of free games through Games with Gold, it is worth noting that already-owned Xbox 360 games will still be accessible to download.

It was inevitable that Microsoft would eventually phase out games from Xbox 360, especially considering the fact that the platform is now two generations old. Sony similarly stopped giving out PS3 and PS Vita games back in 2019.

Recently, Microsoft announced that Beasts of Maravilla Island, Relicta, Thrillville: Off the Rails, and Torchlight would be coming to Xbox Games with Gold in July.

Another month, another round of Xbox Live Games With Gold from the folks at Xbox. This month looks pretty good, with four games up for grab over the course of June. Two of the games will be Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S titles, while another two will run via backwards compatibility. The Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S titles are The King’s Bird and Shadows Awakening, while the backwards compatibility titles are NeoGeo Battle Colosseum and Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The King’s Bird is “a seamless platform adventure with physics-based movement” with gorgeous art that will have players escaping into a secret world ruled by a tyrant. In Shadows Awakening, players step into the role of a demon “summoned from the Shadow Realm to consume the souls of long dead heroes.”

Neo Geo Battle Colosseum and Injustice: Gods Among Us are both 2D fighters. The former is from storied fighting game studio SNK and combines characters from several of their IPs, including King of Fighters, Samurai Showdown, and Fatal Fury. Injustice was developed by NetherRealm, the studio behind Mortal Kombat, and pits DC’s greatest heroes against one another in an original storyline.

The games combine for an MSRP of $79.96 and 3200 gamerscore. The King’s Bird will be available from June 1st to 30th. Shadows Awakening will be available from June 16th to July 15th. Neo Geo Battle Colosseum can be claimed from June 1st to 15th, and Injustice can be picked up from June 16th to 30th.

Another month is winding down as February goes into the sunset. It’s now time for a brand new batch of titles to be refreshed for your various subscription services, including Games With Gold. March’s list has now been revealed, and while it’s certainly lower profile than the last few months, there is some interesting stuff here.

This month it seems there will be no original Xbox title, instead being two Xbox One and two Xbox 360 titles. For the entire month, we’ll get Warface: Breakout, a tactical shooter. From March 1st-15th, there will be Metal Slug 3 from the classic side scroller series, from the 16th to the 31st will be Port Royale 3 and then finally from March 16th to April 15th there will be Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse, which is… quite the title. Odds are you probably aren’t too familiar with some of these, so you can check out the video showcasing them below.

These games will be available to all Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers starting March 1st.

A new year is upon us. After 2020 has been a rough one, it’s kind of hard to think about what 2021 will bring forth. It’s been a wild year with a lot happening both in gaming and in the broader world in general. Like all months, January of 2021 will also have the usual slate of games for the various subscription services, and Games With Gold is looking to start the year off pretty good.

For the entire month, you’ll be able to get Little Nightmares on Xbox One, just in time for the horror sequel coming out in February. From January 1st-15th is the Xbox 360 fighting game, King of Fighters 13, which was the game right before the most recent entry.  For the 16th until the end of the month on the 31st will see the remaster of the first Dead Rising on Xbox One. From the 16th and into February 15th will see a hidden OG Xbox gem called Breakdown, an experimental first person action game with a very Japanese flavor from Namco before they merged with Bandai.

The games will be available starting on New Year’s day and will be playable on all Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S systems. King of Fighters 13 and Breakdown will also be playable on the 360. They will all be free of charge for those subscribed to either Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass Ultimate.

October is pretty much here, and as always, it’s the spookiest month of the year due to Halloween. Who knows what Halloween will actually look like this year due to everything going on, but at the very least, Microsoft is putting on their most Halloween line up together for their Games with Gold for Xbox Live users.

For the entire month, Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut will be available for Xbox One users. The game is a bloody puzzle title where you control a masked killer out for revenge and to kill everyone in his path. From the 1st to the 15th, it’s a blast from the past with the original Xbox’s Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, an action game inspired by Egyptian myth. From the 16th to the 31st, you can get Double Fine’s cute send up to the Halloween holiday with the RPG Costume Quest, and for a bit of legit shock and horror, in that same time frame you can also get Maid of Sker, the most recent release of the line up that sees you try to sneak through various settings against murderous foes.

These games will begin going live starting tomorrow, October 1st. All titles will, of course, be redeemable and playable on all Xbox One systems for those with a Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass Ultimate account.

October’s Game Pass additions are not the only thing Microsoft announced today on Inside Xbox. They have also confirmed what games Xbox Live Gold subscribers can look forward to next month as a part of the company’s Games with Gold program. It’s not the best month the service has had, but it is at the very least better than how dismal the last few offerings have been.

So let’s start from the beginning- on the Xbox One front, you can get Overcooked!, the beloved co-op party game, for free in October. You can also get Victor Vran for free. On the Xbox 360 front, Hitman: Blood Money, widely held to be the best Hitman game until the episodic reboot in 2016, will headline the offering, accompanied by Stuntman Ignition. As is always the case, the Xbox 360 games can also be played on the Xbox One thanks to their addition to the backward compatibility program.

As said, this isn’s Games with Gold’s best foot forward, but that’s a decent bunch of games right there, that I am sure most won’t complain about.

Leaked earlier today courtesy of Xbox Wire in Germany, Microsoft finally announced its free Games With Gold for Xbox in June. Free games are available for those with Xbox Live Gold and thanks to backwards compatibility, Xbox One users get four games to play.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia is included if one is in the mood for 2.5D stealth platforming action. Considering the game is still fairly popular, it might be worth looking into.  Those are the Xbox One titles for next month. Xbox 360 players get Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, one of the best kart racers out there, and LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues. Overall, June’s Games With Gold present over $159 in value with up to 6630 Gamerscore to earn.

The games that will be offered to Xbox Live Gold members for the month of March as part of the Xbox Live Games with Gold initiative have been revealed; it’s a pretty alright month all around, with one really good game, and other mostly average ones.

Headlining the batch is SuperHot, the innovative shooter that launched last year and made a whole lot of waves; in SuperHot, time only moves when you do, which leads to the possibility of you pulling off all sorts of cool and badass stuff.

SuperHot will be accompanied by Trials of the Blood Dragon. Xbox 360 owners on the other hand get Brave and Quantum Conundrum; as always, both of those games will also be playable on Xbox One thanks to the Backwards Compatibility initiative.

So, yeah, like I said- mostly middling stuff, but SuperHot is badass, so that more than makes up for it in the end.

February is still several days out but Microsoft has announced its upcoming Games With Gold for Xbox Live Gold subscribers on Xbox One and Xbox 360. This is part of a promotion with the service that grants free games, no questions asked. Well, aside from someone asking “Why is THIS the free game this month?”

Games With Gold for February include Shadow Warrior, Flying Wild Hog’s remake of the FPS classic. This one focuses more on hack and slash action, kitschy violence and guns. It’s not quite as good as Shadow Warrior 2 which adds a loot grind aspect and randomly generated missions but it’ll suffice. You can download it for free on Xbox One for the entire month of February.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India is the other free Xbox One title which will be available from February 16th to March 15th. Xbox 360 gamers will get their hands on Split/Second from February 1st till February 15th. On February 16th, Crazy Taxi will replace it until February 28th. With Xbox 360 games being backwards compatible on the Xbox One, that means four free games next month. Thoughts on the selection? Let us know below.

PlayStation Plus subscribers are now being the Batman, but Xbox Live Gold users can now enjoy the first of the month’s Games with Gold selection, beginning with The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III on Xbox One, and on the Xbox 360 (as well as the Xbox One through backwards compatibility), Tomb Raider Underworld becomes available.

The lineup continues to include Back to the Future: The Game on the Xbox One as well, having originally become available in mid-december, the Telltale original will finish its run on January 15th, and when it does, it will cycle out for Ubisoft’s Wii U port, Zombi on the Xbox One and Army of Two on 360.
