Port Royale 4 Releasing for Switch on May 28th

The Nintendo Switch continues to be a port machine, acquiring several games and series that would have seemed unlikely to release on Nintendo hardware even just a few years ago. It’s perhaps no surprise, given the system’s solid if unremarkable hardware and utter sales dominance.

The latest game to come to Nintendo’s little console that could looks to be Port Royale 4, which released for other major platforms in September of last year. Publisher Kalypso Media has confirmed that the game will be releasing on Switch on 28th May. Like other console versions of the game, it’s priced at $49.99, but you can get 10% off if you pre-order.

Port Royale 4 is a fairly intense sim, which is worth keeping in mind. The Nintendo Switch version does include touchscreen support, which should make the simulation aspect of the game a little bit easier. There was supposed to be a Switch trailer for the announcement, but it’s not live yet.

Port Royale 3 Pre-Order Incentives, DLC Announced

Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants has just received two special retail purchasing incentives, which are essentially DLC packs that are available to consumers who pre-order a retail PC copy of the game before its retail release on October 9th.

According to the PR: “The first DLC pack is available to customers who pre-order a boxed PC copy of the game through Amazon.com. This pack contains three new pirate-themed building – the pirate palace, temple and warehouse.

“The second DLC, the adventure pack, is available to anyone who pre-orders the boxed version of the PC version of Port Royale 3: Pirates & Merchants, and sends a scanned/photographed copy of their final purchase receipt to bonuscontent@kalypsomedia.com by October 9th. The adventure pack contains three additional buildings.”

Gamers can also purchase through Amazon for a total of 6 buildings, 3 from the pirate pack, and an additional 3 from the adventure pack.

So if swash-buckling, high seas adventure is your thing, look out for the game on October 9th.

Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants is now available for PC and current generation consoles. Never heard of it? Well, players can take control of France, England or Spain as they do naval battle across the Caribbean. Because this is a time of diplomacy via cannon fire, and it is glorious.

Interestingly, Port Royale will feature a campaign of two different paths: adventurer and trader. Adventurer is of course the most action packed route with raids, piracy, bounty hunting, plundering and city conquering required to rewrite the world map to your will.

Trader, though, is the more economic route, as players establish trade routes, production facilities and build cities in order to become the most powerful tycoon in the Caribbean.

With 16 different ship types, 60 cities and a free-play mode when you get bored of killing in the name of plot, Port Royal 3 offers enough plundering and book balancing for the best of ’em.
