"Working on the Switch has been an awful lot of fun."

British publisher Ghostlight has had a long and pretty successful history of localizing Japanese games for Western markets, and over the years they’ve worked on plenty of major high profile titles. These include the likes of Persona 3 Portable for the PSP, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 for the Nintendo DS, and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked for the 3DS.

And though ithey’ve been working exclusively on bringing Japanese games to PC ever since 2014, having recently worked on games such as Way of the Samurai 3 and is sequel, that’s going to change soon. Ghostlight community manager Ross Brierley posted a blog on the official Ghostlight website recently, announcing that the publisher will now also be working on bringing Japanese games over to the West for the Nintendo Switch.

The update mentions that Ghostlight have managed to acquire the requisite license from Nintendo for doing so, and that even though they’ve enjoyed working on PC games, working on the Switch is something that they’ll also be focusing on going forward, instead of remaining exclusive to PC games. In fact, they’re already working on localization of a Switch JRG.

“All the paperwork has gone through and I can tell you that we are now official Switch developers, and so are able to bring fantastic Japanese games to Nintendo Switch, as well as to PC,” the update reads. “In fact, we’ve already started work on our first port, a JRPG, that I’m not able to reveal just yet.”

“While we love bringing games to PC, working on the Switch has been an awful lot of fun.” Brierley’s post continues. “I hope you’re all looking forward to our Nintendo Switch releases as much as we are, and please stay tuned for more information on which JRPG we’re going to be bringing to Switch in the near future.”

Any guesses on what this game might be? Tell us in your comments below.

Ghostlight has recently announced their upcoming action driving game Crash City Mayhem will be heading to the Nintendo 3DS eShop on May 9th and will be available for £17.99/€19.99. The game will also be receiving a Japanese release as Runabout 3D: Drive Impossible by Rocket Company.

Crash City Mayhem entails driving around on the streets against a deadly syndicate of terrorists, competing in different missions to ultimately earn rewards and stop their nefarious plans. The game may be a racing title, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be restricted to just cars as mopeds and tanks are also available. Players can also drive anywhere – on rooftops, inside buildings, sewers and much more.

You’ll be doing plenty by way of rescuing hostages and planting bombs besides evading annoying cops. Plenty of secrets and vehicle upgrades await for surly drivers – the ones who make it out alive that is. Check it out on May 9th.

Featuring a revamped battle system and HD graphics, plus PS Move support.

Ghostlight has just announced that Agarest: Generations of War 2 will be releasing on November 7th for €34.99/£28.49 on the Playstation Network. Meanwhile, Agarest: Generations of War Zero is already available on PSN.

Considering the extensive experience Ghostlight has with porting JRPGs to PAL regions, which encompasses the Digital Devil Saga series, Shadow Hearts: From the New World, and so very many more titles, it’ll be interesting to see how their ports of the Agarest games works out.

Agarest: Generations of War for it’s part will feature a new battle system with active grid based battles. Of course, it wouldn’t be an RPG without the ability to roam freely, so the Agarest universe has been updated and designed anew for just that – in stunning high definition graphics no less. Finally, players will be able to participate in minigames like Bathtub, Shiatsu and Massage using the Playstation Move controller. And really, that’s all we’d like to divulge on that account.

Ghostlight have announced a delay for Agarest: Generations of War 2’s arrival to Europe, pushing it back to 10 August.

The European publisher for the game released this refreshingly frank statement:

“I’m sorry to have to report that, due to some issues that we’ve faced in getting the game age rated, the release of Agarest: Generations of War 2 will be delayed.

“I can report that everything has been resolved and the game is approved, but unfortunately the knock on effect has meant that we’ve missed our intended manufacturing date.

“The official street release date is now the 10th August.”

The statement continued with “I would like to take this opportunity to apologise on behalf of the team for this delay.

“We at Ghostlight and the Japanese developers have made every effort to release Agarest: Generations of War 2 on schedule but sometimes we run into unexpected issues that take time to resolve.

“We realise that this news is very disappointing for everyone who has been looking forward to the game and we’d like to thank everyone for their patience and continued support.”

Agarest: Generations of War 2 comes to Europe on 10 August exclusively on Playstation 3.

Ghostlight have today announced that they will be bringing RPG Fate/EXTRA to the PAL region on PSP later this year.

Waking up in a strange virtual world with no recollection of the past, the main character finds themselves forced to fight for survival in a war they do not understand for a prize beyond value; the opportunity to have one’s wish granted. With only an enigmatic “Servant” by their side, the protagonist will have to face both friends and foes in battles to the death in order to not only gain possession of a mysterious object known as the “Holy Grail,” but also to find the answer to the most important question of all: “Who am I?”

Ghostlight have announced Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky and Persona 2: Innocent Sin will be available on PSN from this Wednesday (14th December) for €34.99/£27.99 each. As with their physical release, you will also be able to buy them together as part of the Trails of Innocence double pack for €59.99 (£47.99), saving you a cool €10.00 (£7.99).

There will be a delay to the Australian release as Ghostlight are in the process of getting an OFLC rating for both games. Ghostlight have apologised to their Australian fans for this delay and have said that they are doing everything they can to get Trails in the Sky and Persona 2 out on the Australian store as soon as possible.
