On the new consoles, GreedFall looks better, runs in 4K, and also supports 60 FPS in its performance mode, while load times have also been improved. Free upgrades to the next-gen versions are supported if you already own the game on PS4 or Xbox One. Those who got the game on the former via PS Plus will not be able to get the free upgrade though, even though Xbox Game Pass subscribers will.

Meanwhile, the game’s new expansion, The De Vespe Conspiracy, is also out now for all platforms, with a new location, new enemies, additional story content, and more on offer.

Interestingly enough, GreedFall is also available on Xbox Game Pass as well. Subscribers of Xbox Game Pass will be receiving the upgrade free of cost, which has stirred up quite a bit of controversy within the community. While it could be discarded as an obvious advantage of the Xbox Smart Delivery program, which allows for a quicker upgrade process than Sony’s PS5, the developer’s decision to give players who bought GreedFall on PS4 a free upgrade further fans these flames.

Spiders is by no means the first developer to do this, as Square Enix also did the same with Final Fantasy 7 Remake, forcing PS Plus customers to buy into Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade at full price.

GreedFall is available right now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It launches for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S tomorrow.

Along with fighting new beasts, players will also discover new gear and a new enemy faction. The developer promises a “web of lies, manipulation and secrets” en route to finding the truth. Focus Home Interactive will also publish Greedfall: Gold Edition which includes the base game and The De Vespe Conspiracy expansion.

Well, here we are. The end of 2020 is upon us, and 2021 is about to be fresh and ready to go. It’s hard to say where the world goes from here considering everything that’s going on, but one thing to depend on is the slate of free games you can get from the various subscription services in gaming nowadays. We now know how PS Plus will start the new year, and it’s not too shabby.

Sony has created a nice and diverse slate of title to help kick off the new year. On PS4 (and also playable on PS5, of course) is the Bioware-styled RPG from Spiders, Greedfall, and then the final entry in the reboot trilogy of Lara Croft, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. You’ll also be able to get Maneater, the pseudo-open world title where you’re a shark terrorizing the open seas. That, however, will only be playable for PS5 owners, though all PS Plus users will be able to add it to their library.

All three titles will be available to redeem for PS Plus subscribers starting January 5th and will be live for an entire month until February 5th.

After some not-so-subtle teasing, Microsoft has confirmed that Remedy Entertainment’s Control will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on December 3rd. It will be available for console players and also playable on Android. The Game Bakers’ RPG Haven will be out on the same day for console and PC subscribers. PC subscribers will also finally get their hands on DOOM Eternal.

Other titles slated for the same day include RAGE 2 for Android, Slime Rancher for consoles and Android, Va-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action for PC, and Yes, Your Grace for all three platforms. Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition arrives on December 4th for console and PC subscribers. Next week sees the release of Call of the Sea for console, PC and Android.

Monster Sanctuary will be exiting Steam Early Access on the same day and available to console and Android players on Game Pass. The recently announced Unto The End will be available on December 9th for console and PC subscribers. On December 10th, Assetto Corsa, Gang Beasts, Superhot: Mind Control Delete, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, and GreedFall will be added to the service. Overall, it’s a very packed month for subscribers – stay tuned for updates on other titles as they’re added.

Among the many big role-playing games to release over the years, Spiders’ GreedFall has managed to stand out. The high fantasy setting, which saw players venturing to a strange island called Teer Fradee in the 17th century, was unique and emphasized one’s choices. It clearly made an impression since over one million copies were sold worldwide as of August.

Thanks to fan feedback, Spiders has now announced that GreedFall will be coming to Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Additional content is also coming, which is good news since the developer didn’t initially plan for the same. Expect more details on a release window, how it will leverage next-gen consoles and much more in the coming days.

Along with next-gen ports for GreedFall, Spiders is also working on Steelrising which is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It takes place in alternate history France with King Louis XVI sending out hordes of killer robots on the populace. It’s up to Queen Marie-Antoinette’s robot bodyguard Aegis to take them down. A release date has yet to be announced so stay tuned.

Focus Home Interactive’s output of so-called AA games has been admirable over these last few years, and one of their standout titles in that lineup has been Spiders’ RPG GreedFall, a game that harkens back to the golden days of BioWare in a time where such experiences have become increasingly rare.

Focus Home have already gone on record stating that the game has been a success for them, and now, they’ve provided exact numbers for that success as well. Taking to Twitter, they recently announced that GreedFall has sold over 1 million copies worldwide.

GreedFall is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In our review, we called it “a welcome arrival in the fantasy RPG space”, praising its choice and consequence mechanics, layered progression system, and compelling world-building. You can read our full review through here.

We’ve now kicked off August here in 2020, and of course that means that it’s time for all the various services we’ve subscribed to to get some new games (and who isn’t subscribed to about 10 at this point). Sony’s long running streaming service, PS Now, has announced its batch of three big titles and all are different experiences. 

Probably the headline game is Hitman 2, the sequel to the 2016 reboot of the classic stealth series from IO Interactive. Next up is GreedFall, a RPG from Spiders in the vein of old school choice-based BioWare titles where you must navigate murky morality and monsters in a new world. Finally, there’s the hit roguelike indie title, Dead Cells. You can read the full announcement blog through here.

Hitman 2 and Dead Cells are both listed as being available until February 1st, 2021, while GreedFall has no designated leave date. All three games are available now on PS Now on both PS4 and PC.

One of the great things that’s come out the latter half of this console generation has been the return of the midrange “AA” video games. One of the key publishers pushing for that is Focus Home Interactive who have steadily built up a good amount of releases in that category. It seems that two of their major releases also did well for them in A Plague Tale: Innocence and GreedFall.

In an press release, the publisher announced that the two games were commercial successes. While no solid numbers were given, both were said to have been “successful” and that the publisher sees this has definite proof that they can continue to grow in the future.

Both games also saw solid critical reception, particularly A Plague Tale, so it seems overall it was a double whammy. A Plague Tale: Innocence is a narrative heavy game based around puzzle and stealth gameplay and GreedFall is a RPG in the style of older BioWare titles. Both titles are available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Focus Home Interactive also released The Surge 2 last month for the same platforms.

Spiders’ GreedFall may not reinvent the wheel when it comes to open world RPGs but it’s still a pretty fun experience. That being said, there are several issues that need to be hammered out. Thankfully, the development team confirmed that it’s working on a patch that will address the same.

The issues being addressed include quests and Trophies being debugged, providing players more control over the camera (fixing the camera bobbing effect) and adding an option to invert X-Axis. Gameplay changes include the Ranged Shadow Impact skill being modified while aggro areas will see improvements. If that weren’t enough, localization issues found across various languages will be fixed.
