One of the biggest disappointments that fans had with GTA5 was it eschewing traditional, meaty single player expansions, unlike the kinds Rockstar had had for GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption– in fact, many fans would argue that those expansions were better than the base games themselves. Given how good Rockstar was at trailblazing the path for good DLC at a time when the industry was moving towards exploitative paid post launch content, it came as a bummer that they gave up on DLC with GTA5 entirely, instead opting for ongoing content updates and microtransactions for GTA Online.

However, that doesn’t have to mean that the publisher is done with traditional DLC entirely. Speaking during the Cowen and Company 46th Annual Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, Take-Two president Karl Slatoff and the company’s Chief Financial Officers revealed that traditional DLC is still something they find “interesting”- a model that is “very lucrative” for them, while obviously being engaging for customers. They noted, however, that its implementation depends specifically on a game by game basis.

It is important to note that they were not speaking in the context of Red Dead Redemption 2, or any game specifically, and just in general terms- so don’t go taking this as proof of anything, one way or the other.

Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 5: Premium Online Edition is now available. The package is a rather disappointing re-release of the game, which features the full single player campaign, GTA Online, as well as all existing gameplay upgrades and content including The Doomsday Heist, Gunrunning, Smuggler’s Run, Bikers and more.

You also get the Criminal Enterprise Pack, which hooks you up with the most popular content in GTA Online, as well as$1,000,000 bonus cash to spend in that mode- basically, Rockstar really wants you to play GTA Online, and that’s what this new pack seems to be designed to facilitate. Maybe if GTA5 had had meaningful great DLC and expansions, like GTA games used to have, a re-release like this might have made sense…

I’m just salty that there was no single player DLC for GTA5, ignore me. Grand Theft Auto 5: Premium Online Edition is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

In contrast to last week’s relatively uneventful update for GTA Online, this week’s update for the game is a big one. First off, it adds the new mode The Vespucci Job, which you can play through to April 23 for double GTA$ and RP. This is a new Adversarial Mode, where three chasers take on one runner. The runner is in the new Issi Classic, and gets to leverage narrow alleyways and backstreets as they try to hit the checkpoints in time, while the chasers get to coordinate with one another to try and corner the runner.

Apart from the new mode, there are three new cars available- the Vapid Flash GT, Issi Classic, and the chopper Sea Sparrow. Pick them up from Legendary Motorsport, Southern San Andreas Super Autos, and Elitás Travel. If you need the cash to do so, Bodyguards and Associates will also earn Double GTA$ Salaries from now through April 23rd, while the Premium Race in the City and Time Trial Mount Gordo will earn you GTA$ and RP.

Rockstar is one of the largest studios in the gaming industry, with GTA5, the last major release by the company, now the highest selling game of all time. You can naturally expect that the developers working there would be fairly compensated too, as a result.

However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. In response to government legislation about transparency for annual payments for companies in the UK, Rockstar has posted its wages breakdowns—and on average, Rockstar’s female staff are paid a mean of 64% less than their male coworkers, which is the largest of any gaming studio in the UK. Female staff also receive a mean bonus pay 84% lower than men’s, which only worsens the situation.

To their credit, Rockstar have put out a statement acknowledging this disparity, and committing to do better going forward. “We are dedicated to continuing to build a representative gender balance across all our studio activities, and pledge to continue to find new ways to support and encourage women to both take up and advance in career opportunities in game development,” they said.

Hopefully, by next year, or the year after, the numbers are far less troubling than they are this year. Maybe some of that sweet Red Dead Redemption 2 money can go towards balancing things out, right?

GTA5: Premium Edition was leaked some time ago by Amazon, with a release apparently planned for March. At that point, many wondered exactly what it might be, with guesses ranging from wild and exciting to the boring and unimaginative.

While there still has been no official announcement regarding it, Kotaku has shared more details based on what to expect from the upcoming release- apparently, it is literally just a collection of the game, and all the paid DLC that has been released for it since 2013. It will also include the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack, which, among other things, includes $10 million of in game loot for GTA Online. So, yes, the most boring possible thing it could have been.

Apparently, the release has also been pushed back to April, for whatever reason- but if you are one of the six people in the world who haven’t yet played GTA5, maybe wait for this release to jump in. Assuming it is officially announced- remember, this is technically still just a rumor.

GTA Online‘s weekly update this time around is headlined by a brand new car added to the game- the Karin 190z, which is made in the tradition of classic European cars. If you like what you see, you can pick one up for yourself at Legendary Motorsport.

Rockstar hasn’t exactly shied away from re-releasing GTA5; the game originally launched on the PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2013, followed by a release on PS4 and Xbox One the next year, and then a release on PC in 2015. Now, they may be getting ready to have another release readied up.

A listing for Grand Theft Auto 5 Premium Edition has cropped up on Amazon- for PS4 and Xbox One only (before Switch fans get too excited thinking it’s indicative of an upcoming Switch version). There are no details whatsoever on what this might be, and oddly enough, it is listed for a March 23 release date, which seems to indicate, in turn, that this might not be anything major.

If I had to guess, this will probably just be GTA5, with some currency and credits for GTA Online included as part of the base package- but who knows? Hopefully we get a proper announcement letting us know what to expect soon enough.

GTA Online continues to maintain its unusually high player engagement levels with a bunch of new events this week- the main one is Battle Week, which will be rewarding players double the GTA$ and RP for all PvP modes.
