Along with plenty of employees being affected, the studio has also seen the departure of co-founder Hjalmar Vikström over the weekend.

10 Chambers, the studio behind co-op horror shooter GTFO and upcoming co-op heist game Den of Wolves, has been hit by major lay-offs. According to Game Developer, a spokesperson has confirmed these lay-offs as impacting a “large number” of its employees, while also emphasizing that an internal restructuring was necessary.

“We can confirm that we’re taking a hard look at how we work and how the studio is set up, so Den of Wolves can become the game it deserves to be,” said the spokesperson. “This unfortunately means a significant restructuring of the studio, impacting a large number of roles, including several of the studio’s co-founders.”

“We recognize these changes are difficult, and we’re approaching them thoughtfully. Out of respect for everyone involved, we won’t comment on individual situations. We remain focused on the vision of Den of Wolves. Ulf Andersson and Simon Viklund remain fully committed to the game and to leading the studio forward. When we have more concrete news to share, we’ll do it through our official channels.”

The lay-offs were first discovered through several now-former team members of 10 Chambers writing about it on LinkedIn. Lead programmer Krister Cederlund noted that there are plenty of “incredibly talented, experienced and genuinely great people now exploring new opportunities,” following a “recent restructure”.

The restructuring of the studio has also seemingly led to co-founder Hjalmar Vikström, who announced his departure just yesterday. “If you know me you’ve heard this before: Making games is hard,” he wrote on LinkedIn. “And these past years have taken their toll. But thinking back I’m proud of how we managed to punch above our weight and deliver GTFO.” It is worth noting, however, that he did not draw any direct links between his departure from 10 Chambers and the restructuring efforts.

10 Chambers had seen a fair bit of success with GTFO, following which it had unveiled Den of Wolves back in December 2023. The 4-player co-op game was unveiled with a trailer showing off its sci-fi aesthetics, and while it didn’t show much in the way of gameplay, it helped in establishing the atmosphere for the title.

More details were revealed over the next couple of months; in December 2024, a new trailer was released, this time with an emphasis on gameplay. After showing off its various levels, we then get to see players walking around its dark and gritty world, partaking in firefights and making use of their weapons and gadgets to take down anyone unfortunate enough to get in their way.

June 2025 saw the release of another trailer of the co-op heist shooter, this time around giving us a look at some of more heist-centric gameplay, focusing on stealth and the use of gadgets. While things go smoothly in the beginning, things quickly get out of hand, and players have to once more switch to more lethal options of stealing and exfiltrating.

While the wait for Den of Wolves, as well as details about the fate of 10 Chambers continues, you can check out our review of the studio’s PC-exclusive horror-themed co-op title GTFO.

10 Chambers has offered an extended look at its upcoming sci-fi co-op heist first-person shooter, which is currently in development for PC.

Former Payday devs banding together to form indie studio 10 Chambers clearly went to plan, given the solid co-op shooter offerings of the studio’s FPS GTFO. Excitement has, as such, been high from the team’s next game, Den of Wolves, which we got another look at at the recent PC Gaming Show.

Den of Wolves is a co-op heist first-person shooter set in a futuristic dystopian cyberpunk setting, and in a new behind the scenes showcase, members of the 10 Chambers development team offered more details on the game. Den of Wolves’ futuristic sci-fi setting will see players engaging in activities known as dives, which are heists set in unique and varied cyberspaces that will bring their own design styles, challenges, and more.

Beyond that, you can, of course, also expect regular heists in the real world, though with a psychology-driven tilt this time, as far as the design is concerned. The video also touches on customization aspects, as well as some of the visual and art design, especially where masks are concerned, of which you’re going to see plenty.

Check out the video below for more details.

Den of Wolves is in development for PC. A release date is currently unknown.

GTFO developer 10 Chambers has offered a new look at its upcoming tactical multiplayer shooter Den of Wolves.

Indie team 10 Chambers won over its fair share of fans with co-op horror shooter GTFO, so when it unveiled a new multiplayer shooter in the form of Den of Wolves at The Game Awards last year, it certainly turned plenty of heads. A year later, at The Game Awards 2024, the studio took the stage once again to offer another look at the title.

Den of Wolves will see players playing with and against each other in fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled heists, with the action looking exactly the right kind of tactical and explosive. For fans of Grand Theft Auto and Payday’s multiplayer heist action, Den of Wolves is looking like an intriguing prospect, to say the very least, while the visuals are also looking impressive. Check out the trailer below.

Den of Wolves is in development for PC. A release date is currently unknown, but it’s confirmed that whenever it launches, the game will be available in early access first.

Rundown 8.0: Duality brings a host of new missions to GTFO, and acts as the conclusion to the overarching plot of the game.

Developer 10 Chambers has announced that a major update for GTFO is out now. The update, titled Rundown 8.0: Duality, has been described by the studio as the final chapter of GTFO. The update also has a trailer that you can check out below.

Rundown 8.0: Duality acts as a conclusion to the overarching narrative running through GTFO. The update introduces a series of new levels that task players with escaping an undergound complex known as Garganta. The addition of the new levels brings the total number of missions in GTFO up to 80.

The update also brings with it a new weapons, including the semi-automatic Drekker CLR Short Rifle, the Bataldo Custom K33 Slug Shotgun, and the Shelling Nano Burst Pistol. The new set of missions also introduce new enemies that players will have to deal with.

Alongside working on the final update for GTFO, 10 Chambers also took the chance to announce its next game—Den of Wolves. Much like GTFO, Den of Wolves is also going to be a co-op centric experience, this time around revolving around heists and corporate espionage.

Den of Wolves takes place in the city of Midway, and the game's developers describe the setting as a techno-thriller future.

GTFO developer 10 Chambers has announced its next title. Dubbed Den of Wolves, the studio’s next game will also involve 4-player co-op, but rather than focusing on horror like GTFO, it will instead be a heist game. Check out the trailer below.

Not too many details about Den of Wolves have been revealed, and even the game’s official website only reveals that the game is set in a techno-thriller future, and that its co-op missions will involve corporate espionage, sabotage, and assassinations.

Digging a bit deeper into the game’s official website reveals a District Index, which seems to be a listing of potential targets for players in the game. At the time of writing, only the Administrative district in the game’s setting of Midway City can be accessed.

10 Chambers is known for its work on co-op titles, with developers from the studio having previously worked on Payday: The Heist and Payday 2, and more recently, the co-op horror shooter GTFO.

Going by other games by the studio, Den of Wolves will likely feature co-op as an intrinsic part of its design. Other games by the studio tend to include obstacles that can only be cleared by players taking on specific roles, and as such, its titles can’t really be played solo.

If you're looking for visually stunning first person shooters, look no further than these fifteen.

Some genres have always emphasized technical and visual enhancements more than most others, and in that group, very few have delivered graphical stunners as consistently as first person shooters have. This is a genre that has often been the showcase for advances in visual technology, and that continues to be the case to this day. Here, we’re going to talk about some of the most graphically stunning first person shooters we’ve ever played.

METRO EXODUS

The Metro series has always prided itself on pushing the envelope with its visuals, and Metro Exodus certainly didn’t disappoint on that front either. From how spectacularly it realizes all of its many post-apocalyptic environments to how thoroughly it immerses players in its world with its diegetic and detail-oriented aesthetic, Metro Exodus is still one of the best-looking games out there, over four years on from its launch.

DOOM ETERNAL

There aren’t a lot of studios out there who can boast an equal level mastery over both game design and technology as convincingly as id Software can, and DOOM Eternal is a perfect example of that. Not only are its hellish battle arenas a veritable attack on the senses in the best way possible, the game also excels at making every combat encounter feel breathtakingly explosive in a way that very few of its peers are capable of.

HUNT: SHOWDOWN

Crytek is no stranger to developing visually spectacular first person shooters, but Hunt: Showdown in particular deserves a special mention. The game boasts all the technical polish and obsessive attention to detail that you’d expect from a Crytek joint, but on top of that, it’s also uplifted by some of the strongest art design we’ve ever seen in a shooter, allowing its dark fantasy horror world to come to life in spectacular fashion.

RAINBOW SIX SIEGE

Rainbow Six Siege might be nearly a decade old, but that just makes its technical accomplishments that much more impressive. From the destructibility and dynamics of its environments to the impressive coat of polish that encases every inch of the experience, there’s so much about this game that can still easily be described as best-in-class, several years on from its initial release.

CYBERPUNK 2077

Even when Cyberpunk 2077 was as broken as it famously was in the immediate aftermath of its launch, it was still easy to see how impressive it was on a visual level. Now, with three years of updates and improvements under its belt, it’s nothing short of a graphical masterpiece. No matter where you are in Night City, it’s hard not to be taken aback by how gorgeous it looks and the painstaking attention to detail it exhibits on a consistent basis.

WITCHFIRE

Witchfire launched in early access earlier this year after years of anticipation, and instantly impressed the masses in more ways than one- its visuals being chief among them. The dark fantasy aesthetic of the setting alone is enough to elevate Witchfire’s visuals in and of itself, and the fact that the game has the technical chops to be able to properly back its artistic ambitions only makes it that much more an impressive graphical ride.

HALF-LIFE: ALYX

VR may not have managed to permeate the gaming mainstream the way many had hoped it would, but in Half-Life: Alyx, we do have at least one major game that truly demonstrates just what a AAA VR megaton can look like. Not only does the game look excellent on a consistent basis, it’s also crammed full of a level of interactivity and attention to detail that you would think would have necessitated some technical sacrifices in a virtual reality game. That Half-Life: Alyx so confidently has its cake and eats it too probably doesn’t get enough credit.

BATTLEFIELD 5

For all the problems DICE’s games have launched with over the years, one area that the studio is pretty much always guaranteed to excel in is the visuals. Take Battlefield 5, for instance- a game that divided fans upon release, but in spite of its issues, stands as one of the best-looking shooters you’ll ever play. From the snow-encased Norvik to the war-torn ruins of Devastation to the wide, open spaces of Panzerstorm, every map in Battlefield 5 is gorgeous to behold.

STARFIELD

It’s fair to say that Starfield has plenty of rough edges on the visual and technical fronts, but for all of its many typical Bethesda flaws, it’s still a game that’s capable of taking your breath away with its graphics. Whether you’re looking at the futuristic city of New Atlantis stretching out in front of you or standing on a desolate planet and watching the sun rise over the horizon, from time to time, Starfield showcases just how incredible it can look when it isn’t being bogged down by technical issues.

WOLFENSTEIN 2: THE NEW COLOSSUS

It’s hard to believe that Wolfenstein 2 is over six years old at this point, because even it certainly doesn’t look its age. Though perhaps not as much of a visual stunner as something like DOOM Eternal, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is still a gorgeous game. From the detailed character models to the explosive and gleefully violent combat, there’s plenty about this game that still stands out on a technical level.

FAR CRY 6

Ubisoft has got the balance between scope and visual fidelity down to a science by this point, and Far Cry 6 illustrates that point perfectly. You’d expect that a game as massive and sprawling as this one would have to make significant cutbacks in the graphics department, but that most certainly isn’t the case here. The level of detail and fidelity that Yara’s many biomes boast is partly why exploring Far Cry 6’s enormous map is as engaging as it is.

GTFO

You don’t need a massive budget of dozens of millions to make a visually impressive shooter, as evidenced so convincingly by GTFO. Made by indie Swedish studio 10 Chambers, the co-op horror shooter flexes its technical muscles almost constantly, immersing you in is terrifying reality that much more. GTFO’s impressive visuals alone making it worth checking out, even if its uncompromising approach to difficulty might turn some people off- though of course, for many that’s exactly what makes the game as good as it is.

RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE

The Resident Evil franchise has always been associated with cutting edge visuals, especially in its RE Engine era, and Village, like all of its siblings, demonstrates the series’ graphical mastery every step of the way. Whether it’s the varied and horrific environments of the titular village and the areas surrounding it or the many monstrosities you clash horns with throughout the experience, there’s no shortage of things in Resident Evil Village to remind you of just how impressive a AAA flagship Capcom release can look.

DESTINY 2

As a game that’s over six years old, Destiny 2 maybe doesn’t have the wow factor that many of the other games on this list do, but the fact that it is still comfortably earns itself a spot here is testament to just how good it looks. On a technical level, the looter shooter is one of many fine examples of Bungie’s mastery and knowhow, but it’s with its stellar art design that the game really cements itself in your memory.

DEATHLOOP

Arkane Studios’ games have never really been leaders of the pack with their graphical ambitions, but even though Deathloop isn’t the most technically impressive game you’ll ever play, it’s hard not to be impressed by how good it looks. A lot of that is obviously down to its unique art style and aesthetic, but the game is no slouch on a technical front either. The end product is one that looks significantly better than you’d expect from an Arkane game.

There's plenty of first-person shooters that got brushed under the rug for some reason or another, and here are 15 of the best games in this category.

First-person shooters continue to be one of the most popular genres in gaming, and there’s a constant influx of new titles that make keeping up with every release an impossible task. To that end, here are 15 of the best first-person shooters that you probably didn’t play but definitely should.

Splitgate

Splitgate combines the high-octane first-person shooting of contemporaries like Halo with some ingenious portal mechanics that come together to create a markedly fresh experience. It’s a lot of fun to move around portals while spraying bullets at your opponents, and the map design provides many options for coming up with your own creative strategies. While Splitgate’s player count has dropped by quite a margin in recent times, it remains an enjoyable time nevertheless.

Team up to complete the expeditions of a mysterious Warden, and co-operate to survive an unforgiving facility.

While co-op shooters are all about teaming up and completing objectives one by one, they are also generally forgiving in nature. Developer 10 Chamber’s GTFO is the complete opposite of that, as one mistake can make the mission a nightmare. So, what is GTFO? It is a co-op first-person shooter inspired by the likes of Left 4 Dead, Payday 2 among others, where you and three other friends can team up to complete objectives, all the while ensuring the survival of your team. The development team is composed of ex-Payday developers, so players may find some similarities in certain aspects of those games.

Not much is told to the player once you boot into the game, even with regards to the setting and the story, but here’s the gist of it. GTFO follows a team of four prisoners, who are sent to an abandoned underground research facility against their will by a mysterious individual called “The Warden”. The facility is overrun by grotesque monsters and the prisoners have to scavenge for resources, all the while surviving their expedition.

"One mistake can make the mission a nightmare."

Once booted in, players get to choose the mission they want to try out. Termed as rundowns, each one of them has a particular objective allocated by the Warden and are presented in the order in which they need to be finished. The rundowns have a number of expeditions over several tiers and each of them is denoted by the letters A, B, C, D, and so on, depending on the difficulty. The deeper the facility is for the rundown, the harder it is, so it is actually advisable to play them in order.

To keep the gameplay loop fresh, rundowns of GTFO have time limits, where they get swapped with newer ones when the counter hits zero. Older rundowns get expired, so this brings an urgency of finishing your objectives within a limited period of time. The system, although challenging, is welcoming, as it keeps the gameplay fresh.

After selecting the rundown, players can either host their own lobby and invite friends or join up other players via matchmaking, or even fill their lobby up with bots. The bots of GTFO allow for a more single-player focused experience for people who like to play games on their own. The bots will follow the player’s action; for example, if you crouch, the bots will crouch, and if you engage with an enemy, the bots will do the same. The experience with bots, as you can expect, is a bit bland, but then again, GTFO is all about coordinating with a group of real people and that’s where the fun lies.

One unique thing about GTFO is that there is no leveling system. Everything is even field for all the players and your chances of survival will depend on what loadout you choose. Players can choose primary weapons, a secondary weapon, a tool that helps in either defense or recon, and a melee weapon for stealth sequences. Each weapon in GTFO is situation-specific, and having a good mix of guns and gadgets for different team members is going to be crucial for the mission at hand. In our run, I kept a Bio-Tracker which let me notify my teammates about monsters in each room and allowed me to tag enemies running towards us in a firefight. There are also player specific perks called mutagens, however, these are limited in number, and upon failing an expedition, you will lose them.

"Everything is even field for all the players."

So, once you have selected your loadout, players are introduced to a dimly lit, claustrophobic facility. The level’s lighting and art style pushes the game towards the borders of survival horror. After touchdown, players are notified of a sector they need to be at, but how they reach there is all up to them. To reach that location, players may split their tasks across sub-teams, so, one team may find the keycard to unlock a terminal, whilst the other may scavenge for artifacts, health packs, ammo boxes, tool ammo and glow sticks among others. However, a player can only carry one resource at a time, so it all comes down to deciding what item each team member wants and how important it is to them.

In almost every section, players will come across a variety of monsters, although their AI leaves much to be desired. The most common ones are the sleepers, who as you can guess are…sleeping. They need to be taken out through stealth, but sudden noise from the players will alert the sleeper who will then call upon other monsters towards you, effectively turning this sequence into a gunfight thereby depleting resources, which is never advisable. Besides the Sleeper, there are Brutes that will knock a player down in one hit, and Scouts, who spread their eerie tendrils around them every now and then.

As you may have probably guessed by now, GTFO is an unforgiving game. To make matters worse, the game provides only one checkpoint which could make each run an exercise in pain and frustration. Upon successful completion of an expedition, players are awarded a wardrobe piece, which allows them to change their appearance and the aforementioned mutagens.

Depending on how well your team is coordinating, rundowns can take up to an hour to complete. Playing these long, stretched out, tense expeditions are certainly fun, but not everyone will one have the time or the patience for the same. The game’s UI is a bit of a mess too. The text on the interface is hard to read and even changing its size from the game’s setting doesn’t really fix this issue.

"GTFO is a unique take on the co-op first-person shooter genre."

In conclusion, GTFO is a unique take on the co-op first-person shooter genre. Rundowns are fun and challenging, the shooting feels great and the emphasis on coordinating between team members and stealth makes each run fun and replayable, provided you are patient. If you can ignore the UI and AI shortcomings, GTFO offers a solid shooting experience for fans who like a bit of a challenge in their games.

10 Chambers' co-op horror shooter GTFO has been in early access for a while, but the game has now finally seen its full release.

10 Chambers’ co-op horror shooter GTFO has gained quite the fan following in the time its been playable, and as its fanbase has grown, so, too, has the anticipation for its full launch. The shooter launched into early access a couple of years ago, and in the time since then, the development team has been making steady and consistent improvements to it- and it’s now hit another major milestone.

At The Game Awards 2021, 10 Chambers took the stage (appropriately enough, given that The Game Awards 2017 is where the game and its studio were first unveiled) to announce that GTFO has exited early access and hit its 1.0 launch. The full game is now available on PC via Steam, and it’s even being sold at 25% off, so those who haven’t yet checked it out have the perfect opportunity to jump in.

Stay tuned for more announcements and updates coming from The Game Awards 2021.

10 Chambers Collective’s first person co-op horror game GTFO released for PC in early access late last year, and has been going strong since then with regular updates- or “Rundowns,” as the game calls them. Its third Rundown, called The Vessel, is set to launch imminently as another free update for all players, and the developers showed off a lengthy gameplay trailer to get a taste of what it will bring at the IGN Expo.

The trailer shows plenty of slick co-op action against oncoming hordes of monsters, showing plenty of combat footage of a group of players going through a creepy looking (to say the least) lab. Those who’ve been looking forward to this Rundown will want to take a look at this footage- you can check it out below.

GTFO has been available on PC in early access since December. A full release date for the game hasn’t yet been announced.
