From imprisonment to escaping into Haddonfield to cause chaos, Michael's journey to becoming a legendary killer is laid bare.

Illfonic’s multiplayer games can be hit or miss for horror movie fans, especially if you’re not into the whole “multiplayer” approach. That’s what sets Halloween: The Game apart – it features a full-fledged single-player campaign, focusing on the origins of Michael Myers. Check it out below.

No, it doesn’t seem like you’ll be traipsing through his childhood (for all we know). Instead, you’ll control Michael as he was in the original movie – escaping from a sanitarium by sneaking through a storm, hijacking a vehicle, and driving into Haddonfield. Things take a ghastly turn as he starts murdering innocents, eventually happening upon his signature mask in a shop.

It also happens to have an assortment of knives. Naturally, he chooses the biggest one, just like in the movies. There’s a mention of Michael moving through the shadows, pretty much foreshadowing his major ability in multiplayer. Throughout all this, Dr Samuel Loomis is on his trail, and hopefully won’t be too late to stop him.

Halloween: The Game launches on September 8th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. If you are a multiplayer aficionado, it’s worth checking out the overview trailer, which outlines the gameplay loop and how the player victims can counteract Myers in different ways.

The map has been described by the trailer as being the "bustling hub" of Haddonfield where its citizens go to hang out and shop.

A few months after finally announcing the September 8th release date for Halloween, developer IllFonic has released a new trailer for the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, this time around giving us a look at its Haddonfield Town Center map. The trailer, which you can check out below, gives us a look at the various spots that players will get to explore and sneak through as they are being stalked and hunted down by Michael Myers.

The map has been described as the town’s “bustling hub”, and a prime hotspot for residents that want to partake in various day-to-day activities, like shopping and grabbing some drinks with friends. This means that there will also be plenty of commercial locations that players will likely get to explore, and where they can potentially even find some useful tools. Among these locations are a bar, a park, a costume store, a car repair shop, and a music store. The trailer wraps up this tour with a musical crescendo that turns into the iconic theme song for the 1978 classic horror film.

Halloween was first unveiled in August 2025 with a trailer. As its name might imply, it is based on the John Carpenter film of the same name, and features Michael Myers as the main threat that players will have to deal with.

Much like other horror multiplayer games like Dead by Daylight, in Halloween, one player takes on the role of Michael Myers, stalking the streets of Haddonfield and executing its citizens one by one. Four other players take on the role of these citizens and must try their best to survive, alert the rest of the town to Myers’ presence, and, if possible, even try to slow the monster down. To help them deal with this, the game provides the citizen players with plenty of weapons – real and makeshift – to slow Myers down.

The players trying to survive Myers’ onslaught also have the capability of commanding nearby NPCs, and can equip them with weapons to give them a better shot at surviving an encounter with the monster.

When it was first unveiled, IllFonic described Halloween as being an “immersive horror sandbox”, which indicates that players will be able to interact with many environmental elements to help them in their fight for survival. Along with its multiplayer component, the studio has also confirmed that there is a single-player story mode that revolves around an event known as “The Night He Came Home” from the perspective of Michael Myers.

Back in March, IllFonic had released a new trailer for Halloween, providing more details about how its multiplayer would work. The title was described by the studio as its “most robust, dynamic and terrifying multiplayer offering yet.” Among the features showcased in this trailer included Myers’ Killer Sense ability, which shifts the camera to a first-person perspective, giving him the ability to track players and resources.

Myers will also have some supernatural abilities, like Shape Jump, which allows him to move through environments more easily, and even phase through solid objects. Similarly, he can also get a speed boost thanks to Shape Dash.

Halloween is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Learn more about Michael Myers' abilities, including Killer Sense and Shape Jump, and how the civilians of Haddonfield will fight back.

Much like Michael Myers throughout the franchise’s illustrious (and sometimes horrendous) history, IllFonic’s Halloween has returned. A new overview trailer is available, outlining what you should know about the core gameplay. More importantly, however, it has a release date of September 8th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

Described as its “most robust, dynamic and terrifying multiplayer offering yet,” Halloween is an asymmetrical title where one player controls Myers. Four others embody his soon-to-be victims, but his killing spree isn’t chaotic. By slaughtering specific residents before the time is up, Michael can accrue better rewards.

Killer Sense is one of his core abilities. It shifts to first-person, where longer observation will result in more resources for better tracking and wilder kills. He can also use Shape Jump to quickly move through environments, phasing through solid objects without being detected, reappearing when least expected. If you need even more speed, Shape Dash is on hand.

The downside is that you need to be in the darkness or outside of a target’s line of sight. Naturally, that leads to the killer’s other play – destroying any light sources or cutting power to the town. Another twist is that players can actually use weapons and pursue other residents of Haddonfield to help them escape from Michael’s clutches. And if you die, it’s possible to return as a deputy or the iconic Dr Loomis.

IllFonic will reveal even more details for Halloween in the coming months, including character progression, traits and customization. Proximity chat is also confirmed, which should make for even more terrifying experiences (depending on which side of the mask you’re on).

The next big patch arrives this month, but the asymmetrical multiplayer title will remain playable and purchasable on storefronts.

Less than two years after its launch, Gun Interactive has announced that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre won’t receive future updates or content. In a new post on Steam, the publisher said it felt “proud” of the game and believes it’s “reached its full potential.”

The last patch for the asymmetrical multiplayer horror title is out this month. Other upcoming patches will focus on transitioning to peer-to-peer matchmaking, and the publisher clarifies that the title will remain playable. It also won’t be delisted from online storefronts.

However, don’t expect more content, bug fixes or balance adjustments. As for what’s next, Gun Interactive didn’t say much aside from “stay tuned” in all caps.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and PC. Based on the original 1974 film, it features one side playing as members of the Slaughter family and hunting down the teenage Survivors. It reached 5.6 million players as of March 2024.
The asymmetric multiplayer horror game has also sold 1.1 million copies across all platforms, Gun Interactive has announced.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre may not have been among the biggest releases of 2023, but it certainly turned out to be something of a fan-favourite, thanks to its solid asymmetric multiplayer horror offerings. In the months since its release, the game has also continued to enjoy success to reflect that.

Publisher Gun Interactive recently revealed via a Twitter update that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has now sold 1.1 million units worldwide across all platforms. In total, it has attracted 5.6 million players, of which 4.5 million have come through Game Pass alone.

At last count, in September of last year, the game stood at 4 million players across all platforms, so it’s exhibited decent legs in the months since then.

In our review of the game, we gave it a score of 7/10, saying, “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre differentiates itself well from other horror multiplayer titles, channeling the brutality of the films with some unique gameplay despite the various issues.” Read the full review through here.

The map will be added for everyone as part of a free update, while the new characters – a Victim and Family member apiece – will be paid DLC.

Fans of asymmetrical multiplayer horror games were treated to the launch of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre earlier this year, and the players who’ve stuck around to keep dipping their toes in the game’s waters will soon be getting additional content to dive into.

Gun Interactive has revealed a new map and two new characters that will soon be added to the game with a new trailer (which you can view below). Players will get to one new Victim and Family member each, with Danny and Nancy respectively, while Nancy’s House will be added to the map rotation.

The map will arrive for free for all players as part of an update that will also bring over 250 fixes for the game, though both characters will be paid DLC, and will be purchasable for $9.99 each. The patch, the map, and the new characters will all arrive on November 28, a week from now.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In a little over a month after its launch, it had attracted over 4 million players.
In a little over a month since its launch, the asymmetric multiplayer horror title has attracted over 4 million players across all platforms.

Gun Interactive recently threw its hat back into the ring of asymmetrical multiplayer horror games with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’s launch a little over a month ago, and the game has enjoyed plenty of success following its release. On the day of its release, it attracted over one million players, and that number has grown considerably since then.

Taking to Twitter, Gun Interactive recently announced that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has seen over 4 million players across all platforms within its first month. The horror title is, of course, also available via Game Pass, which doubtless will have contributed to those numbers quite a bit. Regardless, it’s an impressive milestone for the game.

In our review of the game, we gave it a score of 7/10, saying, “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre differentiates itself well from other horror multiplayer titles, channeling the brutality of the films with some unique gameplay despite the various issues.” Read the full review through here.

PC has been removed from the cross-platform matchmaking pool while the developer continues improving its "anti-cheat tools and resources."

Sumo Digital and Gun Interactive have a new patch for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which should be live for all platforms now. It fixes graphical issues like stuttering when playing on a PC in Ultra settings. Frame rate drops, which occur when attacking or grappling opponents, should also be fixed. PC players can also finally rebind their keys, but crossplay is disabled while improvements are made to anti-cheat.

An issue causing voice chat not to work in lobbies for party members is also fixed. Bugs causing inaccurate XP and delays in earning the same, in addition to the UI showing rank-ups after each match despite not having the requisite XP, have also been fixed. A crash on PS4 that occurred when unlocking Trophies and another that high-level players faced in the match results are also fixed.

Check out the full patch notes below. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC.
Here is how you can farm more points in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game by Gun Interactive is finally out and pits two teams against each other–the Slaughter family, and a group of survivors trying to escape. In doing so, experience points will be earned by performing various tasks, which in turn will level you up, and grant you five skill points each time, in order to unlock perks in the skill tree. This Texas Chainsaw Massacre guide will walk you through everything you can do as a Victim to farm these experience points.

Heal Fellow Victims

You may think it’s every man for himself in a multiplayer game focused on escaping, but you should actively attempt to keep your allies alive, and in doing so, earn valuable experience points by healing them.

Victim Proximity

Continuing on from the previous tip, also try to stay in proximity to other victims, for a bonus to experience points.

Take The Fight To The Killer

Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. If you can present a united front with fellow victims, you can confront killers and use a bone scrap or relevant perks to temporarily neutralize them and gain some experience points in the process.

Killer Proximity

If you can not beat them or ally with other victims, just being in proximity of killers can gain you experience points, as will leading them on a pursuit and keeping out of their clutches for as long as possible.

Play Your Perks

If you have unlocked some perks already, actually make use of them as the situation demands, and earn experience points from deploying them successfully.

Noise Makers

These makeshift alarms can alert the killer to your activity, so cutting them down with a bone scrap will help you maintain stealth, and also earn you experience points.

Slaughter Chickens

The bone scrap once again comes in handy to both eliminate chickens for resources and gain you experience points.

Open Every Exit

There are multiple avenues of escape which have to be opened up before they can be viably used to leave. Even though some of these can be quite intricate to accomplish, and you may not actually use the route out, you should do so anyway, as the very act of unlocking them also earns you experience points.

No Victim Left Behind

Besides healing and defending your fellow captives, you should also try to make sure that as many of you as possible successfully exfiltrate, if not all of you. You have nothing to lose by doing so, and everything to gain, in the form of more experience points for each successful escapee.

Last Man Standing

If you can pull it off without being captured, you should try to be the last victim that leaves the round, as this also provides an experience point bonus. But be careful not to get into a struggle for the last man out the door with another victim, and then find both of yourselves cornered by a killer unexpectedly.

Escaping Successfully

A no-brainer really, but you should do your best to accumulate all possible experience points in the round, before gaining this final bonus at the end, simply by staying alive till you walk out the door.

All of these tips when used in conjunction can earn you several hundred points of experience in a single round at minimum, if not thousands. And that concludes this experience point farming guide for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre videogame adaptation.

Based on the horror film series, the multiplayer horror title sees the Family hunting a group of Victims, preventing their escape.

Gun Interactive’s multiplayer horror The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is out now and notched up some impressive numbers. On the game’s official Twitter, it confirmed that over one million players within the first 24 hours of release. As for which ones survived, that’s a story for another time.

The sales weren’t revealed, but since The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is available on Game Pass, the service undoubtedly contributed to the player count. This is fine because Gun Interactive CEO/president Wes Keltner felt that launching on the service and having “that many potential players” for quicker matchmaking was “paramount.”

“Partnering with Microsoft and allowing the game to be available to the millions on Game Pass was a no-brainer decision for us.” Along with Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, the title is also available for PS4, PS5 and PC.

Based on the classic film series, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre sees a team of four Victims trying to escape while dealing with the murderous Family. The latter includes the likes of Leatherface and Chef, with new characters lending their hunting experience. Check out our review for more details.
