Rune Factory 5 takes place in Rigbarth, a small town where strange events occur. As the amnesiac protagonist, players join SEED to help keep peace. Along with helping out the various townsfolk, you’ll also get to know them better, building friendships and partaking in festivals. Farming, fishing and other requests also start rolling in along with dungeon diving to defeat monsters. Players can enlist the help of various companions in battle and even settle down one of them.

The Digital Deluxe Edition of the game includes the base game and “Rune Factory 4 Marriage Candidates Outfit Set” which features 13 outfits based on Rune Factory 4’s cast. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay on the PC version in the coming weeks. Currently, Rune Factory 5 is available on Nintendo Switch and hit 500,000 shipments worldwide in May.

Considering how Rune Factory 4 Special arrived last December for PC via Steam, this is perhaps unsurprising. The PC Gaming Show is also coming up on June 12th so a formal announcement could be made there. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Rune Factory 5 was released this past March for the Nintendo Switch in North America after a significant delay. It sees the player venturing to a new town and joining SEED, a peace-keeping force, and assisting residents with various tasks. Along with farming, fishing, and venturing into dungeons to fight monsters, players can also build relationships with 12 different companions. As of March 31st, the title has shipped 500,000 units worldwide since its May 2021 release in Japan.

A listing for Rune Factory 5 was recently discovered on SteamDB with July 13th as the Store API Release Date. While the release date may not be accurate, the extensive history of the listing seems to indicate it’s been in the works for a while. An official announcement is still pending so stay tuned but considering that Rune Factory 4 Special came to PC (and previous-gen platforms), this wouldn’t be completely out of left field.

If you’ve played any of the previous titles (like the recently re-released Rune Factory 4 Special), then you know what to expect. Build relationships with the different townsfolk, fulfill their requests and partake in activities like mining, farming and fishing. You’ll also venture on expeditions to take down monsters. There also 12 different companions and depending on how close you get, it’s possible to marry them.

Along with English voice-acting and localization, the Western release also adds the option for same-sex marriage, which has since been patched into the Japanese version. As for future updates, stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

These include Martin, an apprentice blacksmith; Murakumo, the innkeeper; Cecil, an apprentice detective; Scarlett who’s also a SEED Ranger like the player; Beatrice, a Norad noble; and many more. Up to three companions can accompany the player into dungeons to help fight monsters. Deepen your relationship with a single companion and eventually you can marry them as well.

As a hero who’s lost their memory, players find themselves in a new town and join SEED, which maintains the peace. Rune Factory 5 further advances the series by introducing link attacks for combat, co-op cooking and the option for same sex marriage.

There’s a lot to explore, whether it’s ancient ruins, forests or a volcano in order to quell the coming darkness. Rune Factory 5 is already available in Japan for Nintendo Switch and releases on March 22nd in North America.

In a new post focusing on the English localization, XSEED revealed that English localization actually began in March 2020 after it shifted to a work-from-home model. It further revealed that same-sex marriage would be coming to the title with its Western release, allowing protagonists Ares or Alice to marry any of the 12 companions in the game. Though it’s not currently available in the Japanese version, same-sex marriages will be added in a future patch.

XSEED also clarified that adding the feature didn’t delay the Western release. “We always planned to release the game well after Japan due to the amount of time required to translate it into French and German from English, as well as the availability of the development team for quality assurance testing. Implementing this new feature did take time, but we adjusted our overall schedule so that it didn’t affect our release date.”

Rune Factory 5 will be exclusive to the Switch when it launches for the West in 2022. In the meantime, Rune Factory 4 Special launches for PS4, Xbox One and PC this Fall. A remaster of the 2012 Nintendo 3DS classic, it features HD visuals, new cutscenes via Newlywed Mode and Veteran Mode for even more content. Stay tuned for a proper release date in the coming weeks.

Controlling a hero named Ares/Alice who suffers from memory loss (which is how Rune Factory 4 Special started as well), the player sets about helping the people of Rigbarth. Along with farming and fishing, one joins a band of rangers to fight off monsters. Combat sees some improvements especially with the addition of powerful combination attacks. You can also tame monsters which comes in handy during battles.

Rune Factory 5 will be releasing exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. It’s currently available in Japan so stay tuned for more gameplay in the coming months. In the meantime, Rune Factory 4 Special is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC this Fall after releasing for Nintendo Switch last year.
