Some game endings just left us wanting more but didn't deliver.

Ever played a game with a great story that looked like it would continue into the future but just didn’t? We’ve all been there, wondering when our favourite game would get a sequel. Sadly, some games tease and end up never seeing a continuation. Let’s take a look at 15 such titles.

Note: The views expressed in this article are those of the author and do not necessarily represent the views of, and should not be attributed to, GamingBolt as an organization.

Half Life 2: Episode 2

We might as well get the big one out of the way. Half-Life 2: Episode 2 saw the resistance creating a rocket that ultimately closed the Combine portal, thus limiting the aliens from calling reinforcements. As Gordon and Alyx are setting out for the Borealis, two Advisors suddenly arrive and kill Eli Vance. Though our heroes are ultimately saved by D0g, the episode ends with a cliff-hanger. All these years and some artwork teasing the Borealis but still no Episode 3, forget Half-Life 3.

However there are a few that still hold on to that promise that maybe this year will be the year when the legendary game will be announced.

With that said, many hardcore fans are not aware of some of the secrets of the Half Life series. Mainly because the world, story and characters are so deep, that there are many hidden gems that not many people discover. Here are some facts and secrets that will make you even more excited for Half Life 3.

For more exciting features and lists, please click here. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more news and updates.

Breen was the administrator of Black Mesa and had a hand in the Black Mesa Incident

Not many people were aware of this, but Dr Breen was the administrator of Black Mesa, and hence when the player heard statements from fellow scientists like “The administrator has gone through great lengths to acquire this sample” the scientist’s were talking about the same person; Dr Breen. This begs the question if Dr Breen was in cahoots with the G-man, and knew what would happen in the test chamber, and of that experiment would eventually mean the end of the world.

Six years. Count 'em.

When Valve first revealed Half Life 2: Episode 1, its argument was that it would be able to roll out short, compact packages for the game rather than devoting all their time to a full retail experience. There was still a pretty sizable gap between the release of Episode 1 and 2, with the latter only releasing as part of The Orange Box, which also included Portal and the long-delayed Team Fortress 2.

However, when October 7th 2013 approaches, it will have been six years since the release of Half Life 2: Episode 2 and Half Life 3. That’s an even longer gap than that between Half Life 1 and 2.

Of course, Valve’s announcements last week weren’t even remotely related to Half Life 3, instead focusing on Steam Box, SteamOS and the new Steam Controller. Half Life 3 has seemingly fallen by the wayside but the state it’s in now – described as “bits and pieces” – it will be a long while yet until we see the third game.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Let us know below.

What is this? This is a solo or co-op experience for PC made using Garry’s Mod and you require Half-Life 2: Episode 2 to run it. Elevator: Source, as the name implies revolves around elevators; the game is unpredictable and keeps things interesting.

Check out the complete details below.

Elevator: Source is a single or co-op elevator experience that is different each time you play. What floor will you stop on next? What will happen? Who knows! We don’t even know! And we made the game. It’s THAT EXCITING.

Elevator: Source brings you:

Up to 28 randomized floors to stop on (with DLC packs possible in the future!)

A thrilling co-op experience

Realistic elevator physics

Cunning, state of the art AI that REALLY GOES INTO THE ELEVATOR AND WAITS!

Real moral choices! What floor do you get off at? Do you ever get off? Only you are able to craft your elevator story.

No video game to date can bring you the quality of elevators or as realistic a simulation as Elevator: Source can!
