Japan Charts: Vita gets a massive hardware boost due to Hatsune Miku

Hatsune Miku has boosted the Vita numbers to almost 50k this week and it’s sort of incredible when you think that no one expected this game to be a hardware seller. The game itself sold 158k units this week, and is on the top of the software charts.

There’s only one Vita game in top 30 however, with Miku dominating everyone. We also have the hardware sales for you, and the 3DS has topped the chart as usual, followed by a resurgent Vita.

Vita is about to hit 1 million sales in Japan soon, and the 3DS is about to catch the PS3’s total sales in the territory which is a pretty commendable achievement when you think about how it launched. The price drop was very effective for the 3DS and hopefully it will be the same for Vita.
