It looks nice.

Microsoft’s full list of complete backtracking on their original vision for the Xbox One (mostly for the better it has to be said) also included them going back on their decision to not include a chat headset with every console- now they will be.

Their newest promotional video for the console shows off the new headset; it’s pretty standard fare, showing off shots of the sleek new headset alongside a list of all of its features. I have to say, the headset looks good. Microsoft’s actual console planning may have been all over the place with the Xbox One, but their sense of aesthetics, especially with the Xbox One accessories, seems to have nailed it this time. The Headset looks as good as the Xbox One controller, and we all know how good that looks.

The Xbox One is confirmed to be launching in November this year in thirteen territories around the world; the rest of the world gets it in 2014. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for further coverage.

Larry Hryb shows us what we can expect from our Day One package.

Director of Programming for Xbox Live Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb recently posted a video for the Xbox One, officially unboxing the Day One edition and showing us what we can expect when the console launches in November.

Along with the console, Kinect, controller and a headset, there is a 4K-rated HDMI cable. This is especially interesting because while Sony has expressed an interest in 4K gaming (which essentially involves display resolutions including and above 3840×2160), Microsoft hasn’t really said much about the same. We’re sure Sony’s PS4 will also have a 4K-rated HDMI cable, but it’s good to see that Microsoft is also preparing for the same inevitability.

We’re glad they haven’t done away with the power brick though. What’s better for an enormous system than to also have an enormous power brick, right? Hryb goes into detail about each item within the box, so if you want to know more about each component, check out the unboxing above.

Microsoft reverses original decision to not include either with console launch.

Microsoft’s reversals just keep coming, fast and furious. Today, the console manufacturer revealed that prior announcement of the Xbox One not including a headset at launch has been changed. Following complaints of the same, there will now be a headset included with the bundle according to official UK distributor for Microsoft Studios and Xbox products, Gem.

But that’s not all. Along with the console, Kinect 2.0 and the wireless controller, one can look forward to a 500 GB HDD, Blu-ray player and an HDMI cable (which previously was missing from the package). In the UK, this package will be retailing for £429 GBP in November when the Xbox One launches.

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has cowed before consumers demands and it most likely won’t be the last. The company in fact reversed its entire DRM policy for the Xbox One after public outcry – and pre-order numbers – convinced them it was a bad idea.

Turtle Beach to support Xbox One headsets

When Xbox One was revealed on Tuesday, Microsoft hasn’t mentioned anything about a first-party headset being included with the system. Meanwhile, the company confirmed that Kinect 2.0 will be packaged with every Xbox One, so what is going on with the headsets?

Turtle Beach announced earlier today that they’re parterning up with Microsoft for licensed headset support for Xbox One. This suggests that other companies will also partner up with Microsoft to develop third-party headsets for the next-generation platform.

Microsoft hasn’t released any information regarding the price of Xbox One, launch date, first-party headsets and the number of SKUs that will be available at launch. Majority of journalists and consumers are still in the dark on what will be available on the first day and how much it will cost.

It would be a silly move for Microsoft too not include a headset with a brand new system. I deeply hope that the company will not be forcing consumers to buy additional hardware in order to enjoy the next-generation platform to its full potential.

Let us know your opinion regarding headsets on Xbox One in the comments below.

Check back on GamingBolt for more updates.

We put Tritton's mid-range Nintendo's headset through its paces.

Though not in the upper echelon’s of Tritton’s headset collection, the Kunai is the first headset designed for Wii U and 3DS specifically. On sale for $50/£40, the Kunai for Wii U is a good quality headset at a reasonable price, but the built in mics on the 3DS and Wii U Gamepad make it a niche product that will only really be appreciated at this stage in the console’s life by committed audiophiles.

The first thing you notice about the headset is how well packaged it is. The packaging is slick, easy to open and presents the headset well. The Kunai is an on ear headset, but one that offers a decent level of comfort. It’s lightweight, and the foam on the ear pads is comfy and unobtrusive. A plastic clip connects the two ear pieces, and you can slide out each ear piece to accommodate different head sizes. The plastic shell of the unit seems sturdy enough but, as it’s just plastic, its longevity isn’t going to be especially impressive. It’s hard to complain too much at such a reasonable price though. Using the Kunai for long periods of time is possible without any head pinching or ear chaffing, a pleasant surprise for such a moderately priced headset.

The sound quality is pretty decent as well, another element that wildly exceeded expectations based on the Kunai’s price range. Bass frequencies in particular are punchy and well defined, but this results in a noticeable sacrifice at the top end. I wouldn’t go as far as calling these frequency bands weak or flat, but they lack the same crispness of the low end, and are often overpowered as a result.

When you’re ready to get your smack talk on, attaching the microphone is a simple plug in operation, and you can just as easily remove it if you’d rather not have it in your face during single player gaming. The rest of the setup process is also easy, with a single jack you plug into your Gamepad or 3DS. The problem with only having the one jack is it prevents you using the Kunai as a headset for PC. You can always just get the audio through if you want some decent headphones, but it’s a shame that it lacks full versatility as a headset. That said, it’s branded as a Wii U headset, so I don’t know what I was expecting in regards to this.

The microphone quality is pretty solid, and the cord that connects to your device has a pretty handy mute switch for when you don’t want to get picked up. That’s also where your volume wheel is, though there is no ability to alter how loud the microphone is. The mic does its job well but, seeing as both the Gamepad and 3DS have their own microphones, it isn’t exactly an essential element. Taking that argument further, both devices the Kunai is designed for also have speakers and, whilst they aren’t as good quality as the headset, it means the Kunai is rendered a somewhat inessential item. This is furthered when you consider that a lot of Wii U games don’t support voice chat, and the ones that do don’t have a huge amount of voices knocking back and forth during the average game at the moment.

For such a well priced unit, the Kunai is worthwhile for those who are interested. It’s a great unit if you want extra audio quality from your Wii U Gamepad/3DS and, whilst it doesn’t come with the same whistles and bells as other Tritton equipment, it’s fantastic for the price. If you’re on the fence though, it’s just not necessary in any way considering the audio capabilities of the two devices supported by the Kunai. It’s a great headset, but not so great to be considered a necessary purchase for all but the most aurally sensitive of Wii U and 3DS users.
