Hitman 5 announcement next week?

Hitman developer IO Interactive has said it’ll be sharing some good news with fans next week.

“News Flash! Next week is going to be good. Very good,” the dev said on Twitter. “Get ready for incoming shrapnel. Keep your eyes open!

“We are indeed attending E3 this year and will be showing off lovely things,” they added. “As for an announcement, well, stay tuned.”

Fifth Hitman Game To Be Called ‘Hitman: Absolution’?

Although the title of the next Hitman game has not been officially announced, Square Enix Europe have trademarked the title ‘Hitman: Absolution’. So, although there are other possible explanations for the trademark, it isn’t too far fetched that this may be the name of the next major installment of the series. Though, the idea of this being the title of a Hitman spin-off does raise some odd thoughts about a Hitman Tennis game or Codename 47 Kart racing etc…

World’s first Hitman 5 screenshot revealed

The members over at the official Hitman forums have uncovered what looks to be the first Hitman 5 screenshot, a game which is marked for a E3 2011 reveal by Eidos.

The screen shows our assassin holding a silencer equipped pistol and looks pretty good.

Eidos had earlier confirmed that the game was in development and would be made official at this year’s E3.

Hitman 5 Teaser?

Some of the folks over at Hitmanforum picked up on a mysterious, though not so subtle, image in a catalogue at the Sundance film festival: A box of doughnuts with a bar-code, already a hitman symbol, ending with a highlighted ’47’, the series protagonist’s code number. Beneath that is the incredibly confounding ‘hitmanseries.ru‘ in big print. The community at hitmanforums proceeded to contact the advertiser, only to receive more cryptic images; some paperwork, another bar-code and some all too familiar black gloves. If this is legitimate then this will be the first public acknowledgment from IO of a new hitman title.

‘Hitman 5 won’t be out until 2011’

Eurogamer reports that Hitman 5 is in the pipeline, but won’t be seen until next Holidays ‘at the earliest’.

The last game, Hitman: Blood Money, came out way back in 2006, and swept up glowing review scores. But now, fans are itching for another game in the franchise and we’re all hoping IO can deliver.

The statements come after 2 pieces of concept art were released, suggesting a 2011 release.

IO Interactive are currently polishing up Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, which will be released next August. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for a preview in the next few days.
