Insomniac Games have officially announced today that an animated Ratchet & Clank movie will be appearing in theaters in 2015, Rainmaker Entertainment will be the production company responsible for the film.

Rainmaker Entertainment was featured animated film was Escape from Planet Earth back in February.

“One of the biggest questions we’ve gotten in the last few years is ‘When are you going to make a Ratchet & Clank movie?’,” Insomniac Games community lead James Stevenson said in a statement. “The truth is we’ve wanted to do a movie for a long time! Ratchet & Clank’s action, humor and galaxy-spanning adventures have really been the basis for a fantastic game series, and we think it’d translate perfectly to the big screen.”

Thankfully Insomniac Games will have a “hands-on role” during the production, animation consulting, character development and screenplay. Also, the original Ratchet & Clank writer T.J Fixman will be writing the script for the movie just like he did for all of the Ratchet & Clank titles.

It is being reported that the production is already well underway on the movie and voice actors from the game franchise will take part during the film-making. Jim Ward (Qwark), David Kaye (Clank) and James A. Talor (Ratchet) will all be working on the movie. Rainmaker Entertainment president Michael Hefferon has also stated that the studio is “in discussion with potential celebrity talent” for the Ratchet & Clank animated film.

In a true industry shaking fashion, Kojima has announced the Metal Gear Solid movie which is being produced by Avi Arad. In case you don’t know who he is, check out who he is, as his imdb page is full of awesomeness. Yes he was behind almost all Marvel movies.

Arad has produced The Amazing Spiderman, Hulk, Iron-Man and all such movies. Again, check out his imdb page, his talent and work experience is unquestionable.

Kojima confirmed that a Metal Gear Solid movie was in development at Columbia Pictures with no release date mentioned at the event.

Of course, fans might be disappointed that there was no new game announced at the event but there’s still two more announcements to go after a social game was announced for GREE. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnik hinted during an investor call that they are expecting to make a profit during FY 2013. Which means? Yes, GTA V. It’s predecessor was a critically and commercially acclaimed game with sales over 10 million on PS3 and Xbox 360. Analyst Michael Pachter said the game could sell over 18 million units and maybe even 24 million if it maintains a high attach ratio.

According to a Gamespot source, the game is in development and is expected to release next year. It is also rumoured to contain minigames. GTA IV cost $100 million to develop and Pachter believes GTA V has already eaten $80 million of Take-Two’s money.
