Hometown Story Releasing in October in North America, Q1 2014 in Europe

Yasuhiro Wada’s Hometown Story finally has a fixed release date. The newest game from the Harvest Moon creator, slated to release on the Nintendo 3DS, will be arriving on October 31st in North America and in Q1 2014 for Europe.

Much like Harvest Moon, Hometown Story will see you working to build up a new life, only this time it will be a shop you inherit from your recently deceased grandmother. You’ll need to stock the shop, expand on its size and make contacts, with the initial town’s population going from 10 individuals to 30, each with their own preferences. That number can expand to more than 100 depending on the actions of the player through the story.

Hometown Story is developed by ToyBox Inc. and will be published by Natsume in North America and Rising Star Games in Europe. A release date for Japan is to be announced and the game will also be arriving on iOS next year.

Okay, maybe it’s not that simple, but when you have a game from the “father of Harvest Moon” Yasuhiro Wada and Natsume, with no right or wrong decisions, it’s hard to not to appreciate it.

With that in mind, Hometown Story sees you, the protagonist, returning to your hometown for your grandmother’s funeral. Then you inherit a shop and must go about renovating it to take it out of obscurity. The story itself involves various interactions with the denizens of the town, including a good number of supernatural sprites and spirits.

It also appears that relationships will become a key part of the story, similar to Harvest Moon where you could date and eventually marry the ideal partner.

Overall, Hometown Story looks interesting and should appeal to fans of games like the recent Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Stay tuned for more details at E3, and look forward to its release on the Nintendo 3DS later this year.

Harvest Moon Creator’s Hometown Story Coming to E3 2013

Natsume Inc. has announced that the previously named “Codename: Project Happiness” from the creator of the Harvest Moon series will be coming to E3 2013 as Hometown Story, to release for the Nintendo 3DS. It is being developed by TOYBOX, most notable the “Father of Harvest Moon” Yasuhiro Wada, and will be published by Natsume in North America, while Rising Star Games brings its to Europe.

Among other key staff are Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu and renowned Pokemon designer aka the “Father of Pikachu” Atsuko Nishida are also working on Hometown Story.

Natsume Inc. President and CEO Hiro Maekawa stated that, “We’re very pleased to have a playable version of our new IP, Hometown Story, at this year’s E3. We’ve been able to see the exciting development process of this game during the past year, and are now extremely happy with the chance to share the game with everyone!”

Hometown Story involves the protagonist returning to their hometown after the passing of his grandmother to inherit the family shop and bring it back to success.
