Even with good gameplay, visuals and story-telling, these 10 games suffer from some of the worst voice-acting performances.

With all of the work that goes into video games, voice-acting can be one of the most important aspects. It’s performances by the likes of Troy Baker, Nolan North, Laura Bailey, Keith David, and many more that bring life to the characters that we know and love. Not every video game can boast amazing voice-acting all of the time though, either due to the budget, localization or poor direction. Let’s take a look at 10 games with some of the worst ever performances.

Deep Fear

Among the many quality horror titles lost to history, Sega’s Deep Fear definitely warrants a mention. Despite Resident Evil still being at the height of its popularity, Deep Fear’s tale of ex-Navy SEAL John Mayor as he investigates The Sea Fox submarine and Big Table facility for mysterious parasites still earned praise.

With excellent sound design and music, the latter composed by Kenji Kawai of The Ring fame, what could possibly kill the horror mood? The voice acting, unfortunately. It comes across as monotone at times and downright corny at others, marring the dialogue and any sense of tension. Plus the less said about DuBois Amalric, the designer of The Sea Fox and Big Table, the better.

These games exist as a lesson that a name brand isn't enough to tell you something is quality

A name on the box isn’t always going to lead you in the right direction. Sometimes there’s a really obvious way to spin off a popular element of a game or series into something completely new that’s also natural and really fun. Then there’s other times when it’s clear that the name on the box is a Trojan horse to get some less than thought through schlock onto shelves for a quick buck. We’ve got 15 here that we’re more than a little upset about still. But did we miss a really insulting one? Let us know in the comments.

Metal Gear Survive

Picture this, you’re head of a game company and had a huge falling out with the father of one of your biggest franchises, a legendary series that’s famous for political intrigue, deep stories full of subtext with deep commentary on the future of information warfare or how language can destroy culture, all wrapped within a super spy thriller where a solo operative penetrates terrorist cells and save the world? Now that the creator of this series is gone, what do you do with that name?

If you answered lame co-op zombie survival game, Konami already tried that. Nobody bit.
