Xbox Live Games With Gold Includes Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes in August

Microsoft promised us last month that going forward, they would try better and harder with their Games with Gold initiative, and if this month’s offerings are any indication, they seem to be going by their word. This month’s Games with Gold offerings are pretty damn good, and it doesn’t matter what Xbox system you own- you’re probably going to end up getting a major game either way.

Xbox 360 owners get the excellent Metro Redux, as well as Metro: Last Light this month, meaning that they can play through the entire series for absolutely free, should they so wish to (on the flip side, if you don’t like Metro, and you’re a Xbox 360 owner, you’re sort of out of luck). Xbox One owners get one dud in How to Survive, but more importantly, they also get Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. This is especially relevant, given that The Phantom Pain launches in September- it’s a good time to get caught up on your MGS5 lore.

How To Survive is a survival horror game in which players play as one of three survivors. Players can take the role of either Kenji, Abby, or Jack. The game plays out in a top down perspective featuring story and challenges mode.

How To Survive Makes Its Way To Wii U Next Year

Following its November release across Windows PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, the zombie slaughter tittle, How To Survive is finally making it’s way over to the Wii U. We’ve seen very little cross platform functionality when it comes to the Wii U, so How To Survive provides a refreshing instance of cross platform gaming harmony.

The game is expected to hit the Nintendo eShop next year. Unfortunately, How To Survive in its initial release will not include online multiplayer, however it will still include the much loved local multiplayer.

The game takes place in a zombie ridden Columbia, in which players must hack and survive their way through hoards of deadly zombies, utilizing crafting skills to better their weapons and help ensure their survival.

How to Survive Receives Heat Wave DLC on XBLA and Steam

If you’ve ever wondered how to survive in, er, How to Survive against any and all things fire-related, here’s your chance to find out how! The new Heatwave DLC is now available for Xbox Live Arcade and Steam, and helps players to equip a fireproof suit and create incendiary bullets to light the undead up (literally).

The Heatwave DLC lets you purchase the fireproof suit and incendiary bullets crafting ability for one character at $.99 or for all three characters at $1.99. A small price to pay for fire, fire and more fire? You bet!

How to Survive is currently available for Xbox 360 and PC, with a PlayStation 3 and Wii U version due to arrive on November 5th via the PlayStation Network and Nintendo eShop respectively. Despite pitting you against the undead, the game also focuses on surviving in wild conditions and managing your food, shelter and supplies while crafting weapons to fend off said undead.

Third person action adventure title How to Survive, developed by Eoko Software and published by 505 Games, is now available on Xbox Live and Steam. Check out the launch trailer above.

How to Survive places you in the middle of the zombie apocalypse on an island just off the coast of Colombia, but doesn’t just have you beating on the undead. Rather, you’ll need to find shelter, food, water and scavenge for other items in order to create the tools you’ll need to survive. These include scrap metal, tires, harpoons and empty bottles, each which carries their own use depending on how you use them.

How To Survive retails for $14.99 for the Xbox 360 and PC versions. Eko Software will release a version of the game for PlayStation Network later this Fall along with a Wii U version on the Nintendo eShop. 505 Games’ How to Survive isn’t like your typical zombie title. It takes place from a top-down perspective and requires that you think on your toes and survive against annihilation as much as from the threat of zombies. Check out new screenshots for the game below.

This means going around gathering resources like food and finding shelter, besides creating weapons to protect yourself. You’ll be able to create anything from fishing rods (ideal for catching fish as food) to Molotov cocktails (ideal at burning zombies to death). Cooperation with other survivors is possible via online and local multiplayer.

The gameplay sounds very Dead Island-esque, taking place on a group of islands at sea. Hopefully the combat and missions won’t be as clunky and linear too.

How to Survive is developed by EKO Studios and is a digital downloadable title for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. It will be available for their respective consoles in Fall.
