Available for Nintendo Switch and PC, the Toy Story/Small Soldiers-inspired shooter will feature cross-platform support on Xbox.

Digital Cybercherries’ shooter HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed, which made an impact for its unique setting and visuals, finally has a release date on Xbox. It launches on May 31st for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, retailing for $29.99. Check out the announcement trailer below.

HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed is a third and first-person shooter with a setting inspired by Toy Story and Small Soldiers, where players battle as action figures in real-world settings. It offers a story campaign, with missions revolving around slaying waves of enemies and online co-op support/local split-screen for up to four players. You can customize characters with different skins, packaging, heads, weapons, and much more.

PvP modes for up to eight players and cross-play support with the PC version are also included. Regarding the Xbox release, creative gameplay and marketing director Joe Henson said in a press release, “HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed is the perfect marriage of nostalgic charm and contemporary shooter design.

“It’s a love letter to our childhood, where we enjoyed smashing action figures together and creating epic battles in our head – only now we can realize that vision in a fully interactive 3D world. Whether you’re playing solo or want to connect with friends, HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed provides the perfect jolt of 90s energy!”

HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed is available now for Nintendo Switch and PC, the latter having a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 91 percent positive reviews. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

The history of third-person shooters is rife with underrated titles and forgotten gems. Let's take a look at 15 more here.

While first-person shooters arguably command more attention these days – especially with Xbox and PlayStation arguing over Call of Duty – the third-person shooters of yore can’t be discounted. Whether it’s identifying more with your character on-screen, having a better view of the action, or a different gameplay loop, here are 15 more third-person shooters you should play.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2

Before Electronic Arts, live service, and tie-ins with every new film, there was LucasArts’ Star Wars: Battlefront 2. Published in 2005, it featured first, and third-person perspectives with four multiplayer modes and 24 maps. Of course, along with a campaign of 18 missions, there was Galactic Conquest, where players led their fleet through the galaxy and conquered or protected planets.

Upon encountering an enemy on a planet, it would shift to combat, resulting in massive battles. With the addition of Heroes, new modes like Hero Assault, and more content than its predecessor, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is still a strong benchmark for Star Wars titles.
