The UK charts show that the Santa Monica PS3 exclusive has blasted right past Final Fantasy XIII and taken the number one spot for itself.

The game has already outsold its prequel on the PS2 by 2:1.

As we can see, Battlefield has maintained a solid position at number 2, while Metro 2033 has made a first appearance at number 5.

Speaking to Edge, Cheshire said, “Really, it’s all about letting the teams just innovate. There’s some great stuff coming from Birmingham that’s going into Dirt 3, and obviously you’ve seen Bodycount.

“I guess in today’s world, every day you’re dealing with people from all over the world. So it’s a British company and the last bastion of British publishing, and there is some pride in that, but it doesn’t take control of your life.”

He added, “It’s about the culture we’ve created and making the best games you can. Dirt 2: brilliant game but it’s all American accents, so maybe we’re a little over the top with those. Maybe we should fly the flag a bit more.”

No release date or targeted platforms have been set.

Molyneux said, “I think we realised is that when you come to something like Fable, you want to surprise people absolutely and that’s the one word; we want you to feel powerful.”

He also stated that the next game in the Fable franchise will feature less Natal support than was previously thought;

“What I can say categorically is you play Fable with a controller, it’s not a Natal-based game in any way. But I’m not saying that Natal doesn’t feature in Fable.”

It was also stated that the game, releasing in time for Holiday, will not have a HUD.

Kokatu reports that during an Activision Blizzard meeting, a slide cropped up showing their latest ideas. Along with Diablo III set to be released no sooner than 2011 are Starcraft II’s expansions and an ‘Unannounced MMO’. Interesting, no?
