It’s been far too long since we rolled with CJ and the crew. Rockstar Games finally announced the release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, remastered and redesigned for mobile platforms. You can get the game now on iOS via the Apple App Store at $6.99 for select iOS devices. It has been marked as “coming soon” for Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows Phone.

GTA: San Andreas on mobiles boasts a ton of new revamped visual effects, including dynamic shadows, a better range of colours, enhanced character and car details and better draw distance. You’ll also have the option of three different control schemes along with the requisite touch controls. Best of all, for those who want to play it on a controller, it also features support for the same on iOS 7.

Will you be making the trip back to San Andreas or sticking in Los Santos a la Grand Theft Auto 5? Let us know in the comments below.

"We're excited to go into the holidays"

For the third consecutive quarter Apple has reported a decline in profit. Again, this news comes along with the statistic that Apple has sold a record setting number of iPhones’ in the past 3 months. Revenues have been increasing, but overall profit has gone down by nearly $1 billion. Clearly some adjustments need to be made in terms of internal spending efficiency, as Apple products seem to be selling better than ever.

Apple CEO Tim Cook gave comment on the situation:

“We’re pleased to report a strong finish to an amazing year with record fourth quarter revenue, including sales of almost 34 million iPhones,” he added.

“We’re excited to go into the holidays with our new iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s, iOS 7, the new iPad mini with Retina Display and the incredibly thin and light iPad Air, new MacBook Pros, the radical new Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks and the next generation iWork and iLife apps for OS X and iOS.”

Bug fixes also included.

Unity Technologies has announced that Unity 4.2.2 will feature iOS game controller support. This is in keeping with the recently released iOS 7 which allows for game controllers to be standardized for Apple platforms. Along with Apple Controller support, the usual round of bug fixes for Xcode 5/iOS 7 (Build&Run, WebCamTexture and status bar).

A blog post for the same will answer several questions one may have regarding the same, but for now, it has been confirmed that the Controller support plugs directly into the Unity Input API, and the Controller framework is loaded dynamically by Unity with iOS runtime only if it is available.

Of course, Controller support has to be optional – you can’t design a controller-only game. You can also check out the Unity Input manual and Apple Controller documentation for more information. What are your thoughts on the same? Let us know in the comments below what you think of Unity’s Apple Controller implementation.

New Apple products incoming!

Well, folks. It’s official. Apple has releases an official statement confirming the rumors of a September 10th unveiling of a new product in the iPhone line. The iOS 7 announcement page on Apple’s website reflects the system’s spangled new neon look, sporting the crispest colors and apparent functionality to date.

It is very safe to assume that following the announcement of the new Apple product line, we will start to see pre-order availability open up shortly thereafter. As of now, in addition to iOS 7 for all new (and some old) products, we are expecting to get releases for the iPhone 5s and the budget priced iPhone 5c. The 5c will be manufactured with cheaper, less durable materials, but will still maintain most to all of the iPhone’s functionality.

The release conference is set to kick off at 10 AM Pacific Time in California on September 10th. Don’t miss out, or you might miss the pre-order rush.

It’s been nearly a full year since the last new iPhone model, the iPhone 5, was announced. Since that time Apple consumers have been clamoring for the next update, with many holding off on upgrading to the 5 due to promises of the 5s or the 6. Now it seems their patience has paid off, as reports indicate that the unveiling of the new iPhone will take place September 10th.

Odds are that the upgrade will be the 5s, and not the iPhone 6, as in cannon with their previous releases. Rumors have circulated that one of the main updated aspects of this new model will be the camera, in order to compete with the camera of the upcoming Nokia Lumia 1020, which as a 41 megapixel camera, in comparison with the current iPhone 8 megapixel camera.

Additionally, in line with Apple’s recent purchase of AuthenTec, a fingerprint security company, speculations are that the upcoming release will include fingerprint technology of some sort.

Finally, there are also rumors of a “budget” iPhone, which will be made of cheaper materials and have limited functionality, while maintaining all of the iPhone basic features. This model will be called the iPhone 5c, “c” possibly standing for “color” as the product is rumored to be released in multiple colors.

All newly released iPhones will be running the revamped iOS 7 operating system.
