Apple’s newest addition to its lineup of iOS powered smartphones, iPhone 5S and the lower priced, budget iPhone 5C, launched recently, and predictably enough, they have gone ahead to break all smartphone launch records.

“This is our best iPhone launch yet, a new record for first weekend sales,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook.

“The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone.”

Of course, it is to be remembered that lat year’s disappointing iPhone 5 also enjoyed a stellar launch, before sales began to slow down amidst general consumer disappointment, and fell behind flagship Android phones. iPhone 5S and 5C enjoying a great launch right now does not mean much for their long term prospects- yet.

Perhaps more importantly for Apple, at least in the long run, is the tremendous success that iOS 7, its divisive update to its mobile OS, has enjoyed. 200 million devices are already running iOS 7, making it the fastest OS upgrade in history, and yes, that includes Windows as well.

After nearly a year of missed forecasts and tepid sales, maybe iOS 7 along with the new iPhones will restore some momentum to Apple’s product line.

It’s been nearly a full year since the last new iPhone model, the iPhone 5, was announced. Since that time Apple consumers have been clamoring for the next update, with many holding off on upgrading to the 5 due to promises of the 5s or the 6. Now it seems their patience has paid off, as reports indicate that the unveiling of the new iPhone will take place September 10th.

Odds are that the upgrade will be the 5s, and not the iPhone 6, as in cannon with their previous releases. Rumors have circulated that one of the main updated aspects of this new model will be the camera, in order to compete with the camera of the upcoming Nokia Lumia 1020, which as a 41 megapixel camera, in comparison with the current iPhone 8 megapixel camera.

Additionally, in line with Apple’s recent purchase of AuthenTec, a fingerprint security company, speculations are that the upcoming release will include fingerprint technology of some sort.

Finally, there are also rumors of a “budget” iPhone, which will be made of cheaper materials and have limited functionality, while maintaining all of the iPhone basic features. This model will be called the iPhone 5c, “c” possibly standing for “color” as the product is rumored to be released in multiple colors.

All newly released iPhones will be running the revamped iOS 7 operating system.

The iPhone 5 launched on September 21 and it has already broken records for record sales. Apple has announced that in just three days they have sold 5 million iPhone 5’s worldwide and this has to be some sort of a massive achievement.

There are also 100 million devices with iOS 6 installed.

“Demand for iPhone 5 exceeded the initial supply and while the majority of pre-orders have been shipped to customers, many are scheduled to be shipped in October,” Apple said.

“Demand for iPhone 5 has been incredible and we are working hard to get an iPhone 5 into the hands of every customer who wants one as quickly as possible.

“While we have sold out of our initial supply, stores continue to receive iPhone 5 shipments regularly and customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough iPhone 5s for everyone.”

So do you like it?

Apple has announced the iPhone 5 at an event they held.

CEO Tim Cook bragged about sales and then Phil Schiller who is the SVP of Apple mentioned that iPhone 5 is the slimmest phone they have ever built and it is made entirely of glass and aluminum.

It weighs 112 grams and is 20% lighter and 7.6mm thick and also features a 326 ppi Retina display.

This is exactly like the leaks revealed and staying true to that, the new iPhone features a 4 inch screen.

“iPhone 5 is made entirely of glass and aluminum. “It’s designed and built to an exacting level of standard unlike anything we, or anyone in our industry, have made before.

“I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that the hardware and software engineering that has gone into this product is unlike we’ve ever undertaken before,” said Apple SVP Phil Schiller.

On battery life:

“So, you can imagine the challenge on the battery life. But we’ve not only matched it… we’ve exceeded that of the iPhone 4S.”

On Camera:

“We asked our team to try and design something better than the iPhone 4S… and they’ve done that. 8mp, backside illuminated, hybrid IR filter… 25% smaller.”

“But they didn’t stop there. They enhanced it even further. Dynamic low light mode, precision lens alignment, sapphire crystal.”

Stay tuned to more information as we keep updating this news.

Apple has confirmed the September 12th event where the iPhone 5 will be announced. The event was speculated by a lot of people and there have been plenty of leaks including a Chinese company copying the leaked details and creating a phone and threatening to sue Apple in China if the iPhone 5 is similar.

Yeah, weird I know right? But it’s Apple, it’s the iPhone 5, and it’s going to be awesome. Check out the event confirmation image above the post.

The image shows number 12, which is the date of the event, and that number 12 creates a shadow of “5”. How clever is that? And yeah, it’s probably the iPhone 5, we say. The iPad 3 wasn’t named that way however, it was just named “The new iPad”, so people were wondering if Apple would do the same thing with the next iPhone, but apparently not.

Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

Sources close to Korean Maeil Business Newspaper have mentioned that the next iPhone from Apple will feature a 4.6-inch Retina display, and it is about the same size as the Samsung Galaxy S II phone.

The new iPad was launched recently sold pretty well and contains a Retina display boasting resolution of more than 4 million pixels. The iPhone is the largest provider of revenue for Apple.

The Korean newspaper also states that the new iPhone will be launched in the second quarter of this year, and will be a true successor to the iPhone 4.

Samsung and LG provides a lot of components for Apple, and it is said that the new iPad screen was delivered by Samsung. It remains to be seen how Apple’s competitors react to the iPhone 5.

We know for one thing, Samsung Galaxy S III should be phenomenal. Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
