Opening week physical sales were over 60 percent lower than Pokemon Sun and Moon.

The Nintendo Switch had a pretty good week in the UK. According to the latest sales data from Gfk Chart-Track for the week ending November 17th, Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! debuted in fourth and sixth respectively in the physical retail sales chart. Combined sales for the two would make them the most successful titles of the week, however. Digital sales aren’t factored into the equation, so actual sales will likely be higher.

Along with being a success in its own right, Pokemon Let’s Go helped boost sales for other Switch titles. As per GamesIndustry.biz, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sales were up 94 percent. Super Mario Party and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild saw an increase in sales by 25 percent and 52 percent respectively. Even Just Dance 2019 saw a 465 percent sales leap thanks to the Switch version, though its inclusion in a hardware bundle that also had Pokemon Let’s Go definitely helped.

Launch week physical sales for Pokemon Let’s Go, however, are down 60 percent next to Pokemon Sun and Moon (2016) for the Nintendo 3DS. Compared to Pokemon X and Y, which released in 2013, sales are down 5 percent. There are a fair number of reasons for this, such as stock issues (leading to some pre-orders not being fulfilled) and a smaller install base compared to the 3DS Pokemon titles. It’s worth waiting to see how many more Switch owners react to the games over the next month, especially when the Christmas season is in full swing.

It will also be interesting to see how Pokemon GO players react. The NPD Group recently reported almost 15 percent of the mobile game’s players in the US were interested in purchasing a Switch to play Pokemon Let’s Go. Since the latter implements quite a few elements from the mobile title, it could further help mobile players make the transition more easily.

October is full of great games. Here are several you shouldn't miss.

The dreaded/anticipated Fall season is finally in full swing. October marks a number of high profile releases from long-awaited sequels to…well, even more sequels. Today we’re going to look at the top 10 releases you should be playing next month.

WWE 2K19

Another year, yet another WWE 2K title from Yuke’s and Visual Concepts. Don’t get us wrong – there’s a lot to look forward to in WWE 2K19. Showcase Mode returns, this time focusing on Daniel Bryan’s journey from humble newcomer to Wrestlemania main eventer. MyPlayer Towers allows for daily, weekly and pay per view challenges with, and MyCareer mode will also return to provide a more linear story for your custom created wrestler. With stars like AJ Styles and pre-order bonuses like Rey Mysterio and Ronda Rousey, will WWE 2K19 regain some semblance of glory when it releases on October 9th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC? Time will tell.

Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game

Creating a proper video game experience centred around H.P. Lovecraft’s horrifying creations is tough. Nevertheless, we’re incredibly hyped for Cyanide’s Call of Cthulhu. Players assume the role of investigator Edward Pierce as he heads out to Darkwater Island near Boston to solve the death of a family. Focusing more on investigation and conversations, Call of Cthulhu will also see Pierce struggling to maintain his sanity in the face of hallucinations and cult-like figures. Will he make it out alive? We’ll find out on October 30th when the game launches Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

Why should good guys have all the fun? Traveller’s Tales’ LEGO DC Super-Villains is turning the tables by allowing us to control a variety of famous villains. Of course, while gameplay is similar to previous LEGO titles, complete with two-player co-op, it’s now possible to have a fully customizable character that’s integrated into the story. If battling heroes as the Joker sounds appealing – that too from the lens of LEGO humour – then LEGO DC Super-Villains might be worth checking out when it launches on October 16th for North America and October 19th worldwide for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Super Mario Party

Before the latest Smash and much before anything that could potentially keep your friendships together, the first Mario Party for Switch will be releasing on October 5th. Super Mario Party, as the name implies, brings new mini-games, the ability to play on a single Switch and even linking multiple platforms together for certain activities like Toad’s Rec Room. The jury is out on whether the gameplay actually improves on predecessors. Just try to stay friends after extended play sessions.

Mega Man 11

No, this isn’t a new Mega Man X title but Mega Man 11 looks pretty darn good with its sumptuous visuals. The same platformer shooting action that fans know and love is still here with eight Robot Masters to fight across eight stages. However, the new Double Gear system has us more intrigued. Mega Man can now activate the Power Gear system to fire a powerful shot or slow down time with the Speed Gear. At low health, a super powerful blast can be activated using both gears. Time Trials, Missions, leaderboards and more are included with the base story. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long as Mega Man 11 releases on October 2nd for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Treyarch’s latest Black Ops breaks away from an established Call of Duty tradition by having no single-player campaign. Nevertheless, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have multiplayer, three Zombies maps instead of one (each with their own stories) and the Battle Royale mode Blackout. Blackout has already impressed many with its level of polish and well-crafted world design. Zombies will bring mutations and challenges to keep PvE players occupied. Will the entire package hold up over a long period of time? We’ll find out when Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches on October 12th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Soulcalibur 6

Yet another long-awaited sequel is Bandai Namco’s Soulcalibur 6. Classic characters like Mitsurugi, Sophitia and Kilik return along with a few new characters including Geralt from The Witcher 3 as the story revisits hidden events from the first game. Soulcalibur 6 won’t just feature the same weapon-based combat we’ve always loved – it will have special moves, special slow-mo sequences and the return of ring-outs. If that weren’t enough, along with the Soul Chronicle story mode, there’s Libra of Soul, a campaign for one’s custom character. Soulcalibur 6 is out on October 19th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Releasing just a year after Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey veers even further into RPG territory. The story this time around is set in Ancient Greece with two protagonists – Alexios and Kassandra. As a Spartan mercenary that travels away from home, you’re given the option of fighting in the Peloponnesian War for either Sparta or Athens. With more combat possibilities, an impactful dialogue and choice system, beasts like Medusa and an even larger world to explore, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey promises an even more epic adventure when it releases on October 5th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Forza Horizon 4

Perhaps the best open world racing title of this year – and several other years – Forza Horizon 4 heads to jolly old Britain for one’s Horizon shenanigans. Working one’s way up as a rookie to the Horizon roster, there are now four seasons to play through with their own respective events and Showcases that open up. Forza Horizon 4 also packs tons of vehicles, player housing, an improved progression system that constantly rewards the player, Forzathon live events, Seasonal championships and much, much more to race through. It’s out on October 2nd for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.

Red Dead Redemption 2

We’ve been waiting since 2010 for Rockstar to deliver a sequel to Red Dead Redemption and it’s almost here. Though the story takes place before the events of the first game, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a massive step forward in terms of visuals, world design and missions. Players will control Arthur Morgan, traveling with the Van der Linde gang, fraternizing with your comrades and picking up new activities in the process. You can partake in bank heists, build your relationship with an entire town, go hunting, fish and so much more. That’s not even including the online mode which launches in November. Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on October 26th for Xbox One and PS4.

Honorable Mentions:

Luigi’s Mansion

Just Dance 2019

Everything you need to know about Just Dance 2019.

Just Dance 2019 is a party rhythm dance simulation game developed by multiple Ubisoft studios. it is the tenth game in their annual Just Dance franchise.

Development

Just Dance 2019 is the first mainline game in the series since Just Dance 2 (which was a Wii exclusive) to not release on the PS3. However, it is still launching on the Xbox 360, for which it will have Kinect support, as well as the Nintendo Wii. It is also releasing for the Wii U. Other than these systems, it launches on active current generation consoles, namely the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Gameplay

Like its predecessors, Just Dance 2019 will require players to match the on-screen character’s choreography in their dance moves. While the Wii Remote, and Kinect are accessories that are supported for this, those who do not have access to such accessories will be able to use the Just Dance mobile app to read their dance moves, just as has been with earlier games. The Just Dance mobile app can read up to six players at a time. Joy-Cons can be used for the game’s Nintendo Switch version as well.

Just Dance 2019 will be bringing back the Kid Mode, which contains only the most child-friendly tracks and songs for kids to be able to experience. In Just Dance 2019’s Kid Mode, there are eight tracks in total. Other returning modes are the “sweat mode”, which is a workout mode for sorts with the focus on burning calories, which the mode also tracks, as well as World Dance Floor, which is Just Dance’s online mode and is regularly updated with events and special themed competitions. Ubisoft are also working with stop-motion studio Clay Animation and street artist Chanoir to help design each of Just Dance 2019’s music videos, which they refer to as “universes”.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft have also added a Spotify playlist feature to Just Dance 2019. This will update daily with new themed playlists for players to dance to. In addition to this, players can also create their own playlists to personalize the experience. Additionally, the game will also have pre-made playlists. Just Dance 2019 will also now make recommendations for playlists based on the players’ dancing habits, and which kinds of songs they select the most often. Additionally, Just Dance 2019 will also have a new home screen that will highlight a new community section, game-related news, special playlists, seasonal events, and more. It will also have song previews in the main menu, being the first game in the series to have this feature since the Xbox 360 version of Just Dance: Greatest Hit. It is also the first game since Just Dance 2014 to have difficulty ratings for tracks, as well as the first time since Just Dance 2016 that the series has had a major HUD overhaul.

Just Dance Unlimited, which is Ubisoft’s subscription based streaming-like service for their Just Dance franchise, also returns in Just Dance 2019. The on-demand service has a catalog of over 400 songs, with more to be added later on, which players will be able to access upon paying the subscription fee. However, those who purchase Just Dance 2019 on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Wii U will get a free one month subscription.

Outside of Just Dance Unlimited, Just Dance 2019 will obviously have a tracklist of its own songs as well, for those who do not wish to pay for the subscription service. So far, twenty six songs have been confirmed for the game. That number was earlier at twenty seven, but one of the songs, namely Dame Tu Cosita by El Chombo (ft. Cutty Ranks) was removed by Ubisoft. The song was have been for Solo mode at Easy difficulty, and Ubisoft did not give a reason for why the song was removed.

Of the twenty six songs included in Just Dance 2019, four of them are cover versions of original songs. These are the Dancing Bros’ cover of the Pac-Man theme song (originally composed by Toshio Kai), which is for the Dance Crew mode at Easy difficulty; Ultraclub 90’s cover of Rhythm of the Night (original artist- Corona), which is for Solo mode, and the difficulty for which is as of yet unknown; Hit the Electro Beat’s cover of Mi Mi Mi (original artist- Serebro), which is for the Duet mode, and at Easy difficulty; and Top Culture’s cover of I’m Still Standing (original artist- Elton John), which is for Solo Mode, and at currently unknown difficulty.

Every E3 has its share of pros and cons. Let's take a look at the cons.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is a massive beast that’s meant to cater to all kinds of audiences at once. Investors, share-holders, fans, developers, you name it. As such, it’s hard to please everyone but there were a fair few things that E3 viewers took issue with at this year’s conference. Let’s run down 15 of those things here.

Next to No Gameplay For Some Reveals

We’re not just talking about shocking games like Nioh 2 which didn’t have any gameplay. There were even games like Battlefield 5 at EA Play, Wolfenstein: Youngblood at Bethesda’s presser and Halo Infinite at Microsoft’s show that either had no gameplay footage or very little. At least titles like The Last of Us: Part 2 and Gears of War 5 got good gameplay reveals, even if they didn’t have release dates.
