Attention PlayStation Plus members – an exclusive will be arriving on your platform very soon. Sony San Diego’s Kill Strain will be releasing on July 12th for subscribers on the PS4 while everyone else gets it on July 19th.

Unveiled at PSX 2014, Kill Strain is a top-down twin stick competitive shooter which is currently in closed beta testing. From June 29th to July 3rd, the developer will be sending out invites to allow more players to take part. If you hit level 20th before July 4th, you’ll actually receive The Vanguard Vincent, an exclusive in-game item. Everyone else, at least those on PlayStation Plus, will need to wait till July 12th.

A new gameplay trailer for Kill Strain was also released which you can check out below (imagine an even crazier version of Helldivers for an idea of what it’s like). Let us know your thoughts on the gameplay and stay tuned for more information as we near release.

Sony San Diego’s new PlayStation 4 exclusive game, Kill Strain, was revealed back at the PlayStation Experience last December; since then, it has apparently come a long, far ways. If you want to see how the game has been doing since its initial unveil, well, you are in luck, as the developers have released a live stream that shows hours of gameplay footage. So, if you don’t have anything else planned for today, I guess you could just do this instead.

Kill Strain is, in case you have forgotten, a brutal top down multiplayer arena shooter, with a unique spin- it features asymmetric team based gameplay, pitting three teams against one another, of five, two, and five players respectively. Yes, it’s 5v2v5. It promises to be a very refreshing and original take on a very well worn genre, and we can’t wait to learn more about it.

Stay tuned.

Following the release of Bloodborne, Sony’s latest foray into hack and slash combat by developers From Software, a strange thing has happened at the US patent and Trademark Office. It would appear as though Sony has failed to present evidence that the trademarks for four games, one of which is Bloodborne, is in use or that they have failed to extend it.

What this means for the future of Bloodborne, Kill Strain, Guns Up and No More Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either, nobody really knows for sure. While it is most likely just a mistake that will see some poor soul chewed out by their boss.

It’s likely that hits won’t amount to anything. But it is a strange situation for Sony to find themselves in nonetheless. One would assume that if they can keep The Last Guardian Trademark in check, then they would be able to keep on top of their more recent titles that have been hyped like crazy.

After showing yet another addition of MLB The Show with MLB The Show 15, Sony San Diego Studios has finally confirmed the existence of Kill Strain – revealed to be in development as far back as E3 2014 – for the PlayStation 4.

No gameplay footage was showcased though it was revealed that the game will be a free to play, top-down multiplayer shooter that will release in 2015. The game has reportedly been “made for players” and PlayStation Experience attendees will be able to play it in the pre-alpha stage at the event. There will be sign-ups for the beta soon and one can expect to see some form of pre-release version on the PS4 next year.

We’ll have more information on Kill Strain as it arrives but we do know that it will be released in 2015. What are your thoughts on the announcement? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information from the PlayStation Experience as it arrives.

Kill Strain and Entwined. What could these be?

There are two things, one which we can be absolutely sure of, and one which we can be reasonably sure of: we can be absolutely sure that Sony will fund and produce some new IPs for the PlayStation 4 in house, given that their first party efforts have always been marked by creatively risky and unique ventures, unlike the reliance on established franchises that characterizes their competitors.

The second thing, which we can be reasonably sure of, is that Sony is holding back some big guns for the PS4 for E3 this year, since the release slate for that system is completely barren right now. A popular theory holds that Sony is simply going to go all in during E3, and that they don’t want to blow their load early. New evidence lends more credence to that theory.

On April 14, Sony filed for two new ‘computer game software’ trademarks- Killstrain and Entwined. We know absolutely nothing more about these two, except for the fact that they are, in fact, expected to be games. Whether they are massively multiplayer online games by Sony Online Entertainment, or new IPs that Sony plans on introducing for the PS4 this E3, is a point of contention right now.

E3 is just a few weeks away, but we’ll keep you posted on all the latest and greatest in the run up to gaming’s biggest event of the year, so stay tuned.
