Yesterday was supposed to be the reveal of The King of Fighter 15, the latest entry in SNK’s long running fighter franchise. It was not to be, and the reveal has been pushed off until a now undetermined time alongside the latest season of their other franchise, Samurai Shodown. But in the meantime, the previous entry is getting a new spotlight with a new re-release.

The King of Fighters 14 is getting an Ultimate Edition to kick off the new year. It has already been released in Europe and Japan, and will come to America later this month. It includes the full base game, all 8 DLC characters, 10 DLC costumes and 10 themes for PS4. You can check out the full trailer for it below.

The King of Fighters 14 Ultimate Edition releases in North America on January 10th for PlayStation 4. The original game is available there and on PC, though as of now the Ultimate Edition has only been announced for PS4.

The latest entry in the long running King of Fighters series of fighting games – King of Fighters 14 – is due to come out exclusively on the PlayStation 4. The game marks a shift from the 2D style of fighting that the games have been known for into 3D fighting, which is causing equal parts trepidation and excitement among the fanbase.

If you fall into the latter group, then maybe you’ve been waiting for more new information on the game- so today’s new media blowout will probably be right up your alley then. A new trailer for the game, which you can see for yourself below, showed off more gameplay footage, also revealing three brand new characters – K, Benimaru Nikaido and Robert Garcia – in the process. King of Fighters 14 is due out on the PlayStation 4 exclusively some time later this year. A western release hasn’t yet been confirmed, but it’s all but a given at this point.

SNK Playmore’s King of Fighters 14 will be out on PlayStation 4 this year and director Yasuyuuki Oda made sure to clarify to Famitsu (translation by Siliconera) that all 50 characters will be playable at launch.

“That’ll be fine. All 50 characters will be playable at launch. There will be numerous characters at launch, and we don’t plan on adding more bits at a time, so be sure to properly jot that down [laughs]. It wouldn’t be a KoF game with a small number of characters, after all.”

At this point, Oda isn’t sure about more characters being added after launch. “[DLC] will have to wait until we see how the 50 characters do after launch, so it has yet to be decided.”

Capcom’s Street Fighter 5 is planning to introduce more characters via DLC but it will allow players the ability to unlock them in-game using Fight Money.
