A new year is upon us. After 2020 has been a rough one, it’s kind of hard to think about what 2021 will bring forth. It’s been a wild year with a lot happening both in gaming and in the broader world in general. Like all months, January of 2021 will also have the usual slate of games for the various subscription services, and Games With Gold is looking to start the year off pretty good.

For the entire month, you’ll be able to get Little Nightmares on Xbox One, just in time for the horror sequel coming out in February. From January 1st-15th is the Xbox 360 fighting game, King of Fighters 13, which was the game right before the most recent entry.  For the 16th until the end of the month on the 31st will see the remaster of the first Dead Rising on Xbox One. From the 16th and into February 15th will see a hidden OG Xbox gem called Breakdown, an experimental first person action game with a very Japanese flavor from Namco before they merged with Bandai.

The games will be available starting on New Year’s day and will be playable on all Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S systems. King of Fighters 13 and Breakdown will also be playable on the 360. They will all be free of charge for those subscribed to either Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass Ultimate.

Originally released in 2010 for arcades in Japan, King of Fighters XIII subsequently made its way to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011. It even released for iOS in the same year, before heading to Android in 2012. Now we can look forward to the game releasing on Steam – for those fighting games on the PC, that is.

King of Fighters XIII is one of the more critically acclaimed games in the series, including elements from past KOF games and being closer in style to how the classic arcade games played. It fetched much critical acclaim including a few Game of the Year awards for its fighting system, gameplay and varied characters. If indeed it is coming to Steam, it would be interesting to see what SNK Playmore will add to lure in PC gamers.

ATLUS and developer SNK PLAYMORE today released the apatch intended to address various issues for The King of Fighters XIII

The game update, now available on PSN and coming soon to Xbox Live, addresses a number of issues, many of which negatively affected online gameplay experience (info as given by the devs):

• Ranked Match Filtering: One of the most requested additions, players may now set conditions for their opponent’s connection. When a player who doesn’t meet the standby conditions tries to enter the Ranked match, a warning message will be displayed and the match cancelled.
• Improved Filtering: Filtering functionality in general has seen dramatic improvements. Previously, certain connection data was not filtered sufficiently and the player had a chance of connecting to opponents with poor connection quality. Now, more aggressive filtering should ensure that players are only matched with opponents who meet their filter settings.
• Improved Connection Antenna: The computation behind the players’ connection antenna, the meter indicating the quality of a player’s connection, has been improved, resulting in a more accurate and consistent measurement.
• Temporarily Saved Custom Match Settings: Players may continue searching for opponents with the same settings as long as the player remains in the PLAYER MATCH/RANKED MATCH menu.
• Character-specific Bug Fixes: “NESTS-Style” Kyo and Iori with the Power of Flames no longer become unresponsive under certain circumstances.
• Additional refinements, fixes, and more!

ATLUS also today announced a limited time $10 price reduction, dropping the game to $39.99.

Atlus has released a new video showcasing some of the awesome combos in King of Fighters XIII. The game looks awesome so far and you can check out most of the combos in the trailer. The game will release on November 22nd on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

With the triumphant return of fan favorite characters like Mai, K’, and Vice, extensive refinement of the core fighting engine based on community feedback, and vastly improved network functionality, THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII represents the HD entry in the series that fans have been waiting for.

Painstaking effort has been made to address every last concern following the last entry: fights play faster; the addition of over a half dozen play modes offers variety and replayability; the game’s beautifully rendered and animated character sprites are better distinguished from the backgrounds–which happen to be richer and more detailed; the camera perspective is less restricted; fighters have more moves, including new supers and the all-new NEOMAX supers; and much, much more!

The game looks awesome as usual and the visuals are really pleasant to look at.

King of Fighters XIII (13) has been slightly delayed, as it will not be released on November 22nd, 2011 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.  The new trailer above tries to highlight all of the packed features in the game.  With King of Fighters XIII having 10 game modes, over 30 fighters, NEO MAX Supers and if you pre-order the game you will get a 4 CD Soundtrack Set compiling all the King of Fighters music.

Rising Star Games have announcedthe pre-order package for its upcoming release The King Of Fighters XIII.

The pre-order package will include a limited edition 4-CD soundtrack from the history of The King Of Fighters XIII. It will also include a double sided A3 poster, digital art disc, reversible sleeves.

The game is due this November on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
