Blueside’ Kingdom Under Fire 2 has had a very long and troubled development but it appears to be getting closer to release. We say that but the PS4/PC title still doesn’t have a release date. Regardless, a new trailer emerged at TGS 2014 and you can check it out above.

Though it may be real-time, we’re a still a bit sceptical about how all this works. But if this trailer is to be believed, you’ll take control of different classes and fight across wide open landscapes, battling thousands of soldiers at a time while commanding your own troops in combat. It’s impressive to be sure but we’re still curious about how it will actually work out.

In any case, the trailer shows off more of the battles that will characterize this game. Sang Youn Lee, producer and director of Kingdom Under Fire II, noted that “the trailer we unveiled at E3 is all made with real-time gameplay without free rendering,” which makes this pretty impressive looking.

Kingdom Under Fire II on the PlayStation 4 will have better graphics compared to the PC version, according to the game’s executive producer Sang Youn Lee. Kingdom Under Fire II is a massively multiplayer online real-time strategy RPG that is under development at Blue Side Studios.

When asked about the graphics differences between PC and PS4 versions in an interview with 2P, Lee stated: “A little hard to tell you right now because if the PC users know, they will be very angry. PS4 has much better graphics. PS4 graphics quality will be much better and higher than the PC version.”

This is certainly interesting since a modern PC is supposed to be much powerful than the new consoles. But again, the PS4 has been compared to a high end PC in the past. Lee also revealed that they will like to bring to the Xbox One but that depends on Microsoft.

Kingdom Under Fire II runs on the FAME Tech 2 engine and is expected to release later this year. The developer is planning to have a simultaneous launch across Europe, Japan and Korea.

Earlier today two new videos and some screenshots were released for the ever-elusive Kingdom Under FIre 2, which has been in development for over three years. The most recent updates since the announcement of the game’s closed beta in 2011 were the announcements of the development of PC, and PS4 versions of the game to accompany the already planned PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

The trailer, which is really just 1:30 of trailer and then 4 minutes of cinematic game play combat, looks to be very promising indeed. In game combat looks spectacular and incredibly fun both in small scale individual confrontations, and in large scale all out war-type situations. Four years of development looks to have paid off.

The second video, while it also shows in game combat game play, rather than taking bits and pieces from favorite combat scenes, takes us in on a real mission in the game. And it makes things look even more fun. From the oohs of things, we will be able to control large scale armies from a high up bird’s eye view, or soon in and control an individual unit for more personal, shish n’ gash combat.

As of yet there still is no official release for Kingdom Under Fire 2, but it is still listed as having a 2013 release.

As of now, it’s hard to believe that Kingdom Under Fire 2 is still happening. Is it still the same game as when it was first introduced? For that matter, there is talk that it will be arriving on the PlayStation 3 and PC as well. We’d say there’s no better time than now, especially with Sony’s push for free to play titles on the PS4 and the success of the recent MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on the PS3.

Kingdom Under Fire II will merge three classic game genres: Real Time Strategy (RTS), Role-Playing Game (RPG), and Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO).

In this trailer, we get a glimpse at the game’s Invasion Mode. Invasion Mode is a 16-player co-op mode in which players will assume the roles of warriors on a battlefield mid combat, and will participate in the battle with one another, utilizing team tactics and individual abilities. So far things look very Dynasty Warriors-esque.

The apparent crispness of graphics and detail of the health, ability gauge, and interchangeable ability system can’t be denied based on this video. It looks like we have a successful combination of all the attempted genres on our hands, and what looks like will be an incredibly fun game to play.

Kingdom Under Fire II will release on PC and the PlayStation 3.
