If you’ve been waiting for Kingdom Under Fire II to just f@#%ing come out on (either on the PlayStation 4, or the PC) already, then maybe this news will be heartening to hear for you- it appears that, at least in South Korea, Kingdom Under Fire II will be launching on the PlayStation 4 in Summer of 2015. And if it’s launching there then, then a launch for the rest of the world can’t possibly be too far behind, now, can it?

It is, of course, great to see that the game actually exists in a finished state, and that we might have our chance to go hands on with it very soon, though of course, questions regarding the PC version, and the western release date, still abound. We don’t know yet as to when we’ll learn more about either of those two, but stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we will keep you posted.

It looks simple enough...

The newest video that was just released for Kingdom Under Fire II should answer one of the many longstanding questions that fans looking forward to the game’s release on Sony’s newest console have had for a while- just how will the game control on the PlayStation 4 and its DualShock 4 controller?

Well, this newest video shows us just how, by showing us the controls of the game as they are on the PlayStation 4. The video is in Korean, so it’s actually very hard to tell what the controls actually do, but judging by the button presses shown juxtaposed against what is happening on the screen, it seems that they will be simplistic enough.

Kingdom Under Fire II is due out on the PC and PlayStation 4; the game is set to be free to play, and identical (mostly) across both versions. We still do not have a release date for the game, but stay tuned, and we will keep you posted.

RPGs. RPGs are everywhere in 2015.

The RPG genre has been on something of a hot streak for the past couple years. You can’t shake a stick without hitting a game that’s either borrowing elements from the genre or an excellent RPG in its own right. 2015 is no exception, and there are a ton of quality RPGs that planned for release in the coming year. That said, we’ve narrowed it down to 15 games that you should keep your eyes on next year.

This list is in no particular order.

15. Dead Island 2

All right, I know what you’re thinking: Dead Island 2 isn’t an RPG. But it kinda is, actually. Technically, it’s an action RPG. You’ve got stats, perks, upgrades, an experience system, and even classes to choose from, in terms of the characters. Dead Island 2 is set in sunny California, and will feature more fragile, and more deadly, zombies, according to developer Yager. You may have heard of them – they were responsible for 2012’s incredible Spec Ops: The Line.

Everything you need to know about Kingdom Under Fire II

Kingdom Under Fire II is an upcoming massively multiplayer online action role playing game with real time strategy elements that is currently in development by Blueside, a Seoul based developer that previous worked on Ninety-Nine Nights and Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom. It’s also being jointly developed by Phantagram, also based in south Korea there previous games include Phantom Crash and Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders.

Set to be the fifth game in the Kingdom Under Fire series, chronologically set after the fourth game, Circle of Doom, Kingdom Under Fire II is slated for release on Microsoft Window’s PC’s and the PlayStation 4. The game is marked for launch in Korea, Malaysia and South East Asia at some time in Q1-Q2 of 2014 and Q2-Q3 in the west. The PlayStation 4 build of the game is set to launch at some point in Q3-Q4 of 2014.

Development

The game initially began its development cycle some time before 2008 when it was officially announced to be released on the PC and multiple home consoles in 2009.
The game was set to retain all of its touted features, including the massively multiplayer online core and the action real time strategy portions.

The development of Kingdom Under Fire II has been somewhat troubled. As it furthered into development the game was hit by a delay, changes in the platforms that it was intended to release on and actual gameplay changes following player feedback that was gathered from a Beta test which was run in December 2011.

However, Blueside, one of the co-developers, confirmed that an Xbox 360 build was in development and that it would feature a more single player orientated campaign and an online multiplayer mode. There was also DLC planned to release alongside it, but the game was never said to be an MMORTS. This was reported on by Eurogamer in 2009 when the developer said,”Kingdom Under Fire II for Xbox 360 will differentiate itself from the PC Online version in that there will be more focus on the single-player aspect as for players to unveil the secrecy of Bersian history as putting themselves on shoes of heroes and reunite the scattered nations in deep and rich storyline,”

In 2010, Blueside encountered financial problems that resulted in the staff on the development team partially leaving with many others not receiving due payment for their work. The game remained in development hell for quite some time with departing staff members forming their own development studios, this was blamed for the games delay, stating that the departing staff left them undermanned and lacking the required manpower.

After numerous delays, the game was set to launch around holiday 2011, but in November of the same year, a PlayStation 3 build was announced to be in development which all but confirmed the further delay of the Xbox 360 build. Both of which were slated for a 2012 release date with no specific time window given. Further delays followed with the announcement of the PlayStation 4 build of the game which pushed the release schedule back yet again with the current status of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation being unofficially commented on.

Kingdom Under Fire II entered open beta in May 22nd of 2014. The release dates have been set as Korea, Malaysia and South East Asia at some time in Q1-Q2 of 2014 and Q2-Q3 in the west. Whereas the PlayStation 4 build of the game is set to launch at some point in Q3-Q4 of 2014. Given these vague release times, gamers and media members alike remain sceptical of the games release.

Story

As we mentioned above, Kingdom Under Fire II is the fifth game in the series and follows on chronologically from Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom, set in the antagonists alternative dimension of Encablossa. KUFII continues the story of the games universe, being set 150 years after Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders.

The game will look at the dynamics of a three way war between the Human Alliance, the Dark Legion and the Encablossians, a new species introduced to the game as inhabitants of Bersia, a continent from the previous games antagonist’s home dimension.

Gameplay

The gameplay dynamic of Kingdom Under Fire II is interesting in the sense that the real time strategic elements are fully integrated into the action role playing game portion of the game. Players can control their character on the battlefield and fight alongside their soldiers who will fight with them whereas controlling units like cannons can be controlled in a typical RTS style to direct their fire and spear men can be positioned on the flanks of infantry to form spear walls to protect against flanking cavalry attacks.

Thus far, not much information has been made available and actual gameplay mechanics information remains scarce. The game seems to play like the popular Dynasty Warriors in some places.

Characters

Thus far, no characters have officially been revealed, the art for the game does heavily feature a female elf-like character, a human male with dreadlocks and a Dwarf wielding what I can only describe as a Axe Rifle.

For the sake of the games continuity, here are a list of already existing characters within the Kingdom Under Fire universe.

Human Alliance

Gerald

Glen

Kendal

Keither

Walter

The Dark Legion

Leinhart

Regnier

Lucretia

Morene

Encablossa

Regnier (post war)

Leinhart (post war)

Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game.

The highly hyped and exciting MMO action RPG and RTS from Phantagram and Blueside, namely Kingdom Under Fire II will begin its closed beta session next month on May 6th. MMOG.asia will officially open servers for the same but the closed beta client is now available for players to download here. This ensures that you have your own copy for the game, ready to play when the closed beta begins.

Kingdom Under Fire II began development way back in 2008 for the PC and after many troubled years, made a resilient return last year when it was announced to be in development for the PS4. The game sees you controlling a hero who can command various troops. When you’re not running around smacking things, you can go into RTS mode and order your units around, even deploying cannons to smash down walls.

KUFII will be out in mid-2014 for PC players in the West while PS4 gamers can look forward to it in mid-to-late 2014.
