Violence and use of swear words are among reasons cited for granting this rating.

Metal Gear Survive was initially set to release in 2017 but this release date was delayed to 2018. Now, ahead of the game’s release, the ESRB rating for the game has been unveiled. The board has decided to give an “M” for Mature rating for the latest entry in the series.

Metal Gear Survive will take place in an alternate dimension where characters have to battle crystalline zombies in their attempt to get back home. As the game features quite a bit of violence including “blood-splatter effects” and “realistic gunfire.” Additionally, the use of swear words is another reason cited by the board for granting the game an “M” rating.

This is the first game in the series that is being made after Hideo Kojima’s departure from the company, so there’s a lot of expectations to meet for Konami Digital Entertainment with this game. Metal Gear Survive is set to release on January 20 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

A new patch adds beta version to help with glitches.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is available on PC and like most console ports, it has its share of bugs and glitches. A new patch has been released for the same though and Konami Productions LA community manager Robert Allen Peeler has outlined the fixes in a new Steam community post.

The patch is meant to specifically fix three issues, namely the camera movements with the mouse now correctly reflecting a change with the Y Axis being set to reverse; a “Low Memory” error that occurs upon launching the game within the first few minutes; and an issue where the game wouldn’t launch if some USB devices had been connected.

Peeler also discussed the patch’s ability to run the game in beta form, thus allowing one to check if issues still occur. “To download the Beta version, right click the entry for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes in your Steam Library, and select Properties then click the tab for Beta.”

If the above issues have been seen before, Peeler suggests to “try the Beta version and check to see if any of the above issues you’ve experienced still occur.”

And then he made the mistake of asking the Rising team what they were up to.

Fate can be a funny character as Platinum Games former designer Kenichirou Yoshimura found out when was set to leave the company and go freelance. But three days before his official date of resignation, he made one mistake.

In a development post, Yoshimura states, “Three days before I was about to leave Platinum to go freelance, without much left to do, I strolled over to the nearby Rising team to see if they needed any help. Then I saw their designs—the art style could not have been further from the Metal Gear universe. Immediately, I slammed my fist on the director’s table. ‘You cannot put this in a Metal Gear game!’ I told him. Before I knew it, my last three days at Platinum turned into over half a year.”

Yoshimura was a Metal Gear fan and loved the work of series illustrator Yoji Shinkawa, even collecting the man’s art books. His main assignment when he joined was to design Raiden’s rival Sam, the concept art which can be seen below.

Gotta catch all the Dragon Cards!...Or something.

Did you think Metal Gear: Social Ops was the only GREE-centric game Konami was hiding? Apparently not, as the company announced Dragon Collection for GREE on iOS devices in North America this Fall. Believe it or not, it’s actually an award-winning mobile social game, besides being one of the biggest card battling games in Japan with 6.5 million+ domestic registered users

Tomoyuki Tsuboi, President of Konami Digital Entertainment stated, “We are pleased to introduce the popular Dragon Collection to the North American market, exemplifying our dedication to providing engaging experiences to the rapidly expanding social and mobile platforms, including the newly announced GREE platform.”

Dragon Collection is essentially Pokemon but with Dragon Cards (or Yu-Gi-Oh, more or less). Game modes include Quest (players explore the Dragon World), Battle (players battle villains and rival players), Gacha (players compete for a random prize), and Fusion (players strengthen by merging favorite monsters). Dragon Collection also has in-game events and campaigns that evolve based on user’s requests and opinions. And lest you think this is just a straight-up port with the core gameplay modes intact, there will be new monsters specifically for the North American version of the game.

Check it out on the App Store when it releases this Fall.
