Bloober Team’s Layers of Fear: Legacy is coming to the Nintendo Switch via the eShop on February 21st. It will retail for $19.99/€19.99/£17.99 and for the amount of content provided, it’s not a bad deal. Along with the base game, which has been “remastered and redesigned” for the Switch, the Legacy edition will have the Inheritance DLC included.

For those who haven’t played the game when it originally released for PS4, PC and Xbox One, Layers of Fear focuses on a painter who’s gone insane en route to creating his masterpiece. He must explore his Victorian mansion and attempt to unravel the mystery surrounding his missing wife. As players explore, the environment will contort and change in different ways, revealing past events and how our painter came to be in this situation.

If Layers of Fear: Legacy is successful, it remains to be seen if Bloober Team will bring its last game Observer to the platform as well. Significant effort would need to be done though since it runs on Unreal Engine 4. What do you think of Layers of Fear on Switch? Let us know in the comments.

Layers of Fear was originally released for the PS4, PC and Xbox One back in 2015. Bloober Team had announced that the game would release for the Nintendo Switch with a few graphical upgrades along with some gameplay changes. The remastered version of the game will be called Layers of Fear: Legacy and will release exclusively for the Switch in early 2018.

In the game, players will explore a Victorian-era mansion and will see its corridors warp and distort through the eyes of a painter who is struggling with mental illness. The remastered edition will update controls making use of HD Rumble, motion control and touch screen. Furthermore, there will also be a graphical changes to the game to suit the console. This version will also include the Inheritance DLC which will allow players to witness the game’s story from a new character’s perspective.

In the midst of several high-profile third party games like DOOM and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus coming to the Nintendo Switch, Bloober Team has announced that Layers of Fear will also be arriving “soon” for the platform.

Known as Layers of Fear: Legacy, the game is a first person horror title where the player assumes the role of a mad painter seeking to complete his masterpiece. The game was a breakout effort for Bloober Team which was coming off of the failure of Basement Crawl. It would also more than influence the studio’s next big venture Observer which recently released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

The question now remains whether Layers of Fear: Legacy will include the Inheritance DLC along with it. Interested players can look for the game to be physically published by Aspyr in some regions along with the eShop download. It will also be playable at the Tokyo Game Show.

What we do know is the Aspyr will be publishing the game physically in selected regions and of course digitally via the eShop. Furthermore, it will be playable for the first at the Tokyo Game Show this week.
