Despite tough competition from LEGO Marvel Avengers, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 managed to retain its lead in UK sales according to Gfk Chart-Track. The former was responsible for knocking the latter off on its debut but it quickly rose back to prominence.

FIFA 16 is in third place, moving up from fourth place. That spot was taken by Grand Theft Auto 5, whose presence on the charts is becoming absurd at this point. Star Wars: Battlefront is in fifth place followed by Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege and Just Cause 3.

The one surprising entry is Fallout 4 which was in 15th place last week but rose to eighth place recently. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate and Minecraft: Story Mode round off the top ten.

It was a relatively light month for releases in the United States for January 2016 and a result, many of the same heavy hitters from last year continued to stay in the NPD’s top 10 best selling games list.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was in the number one spot followed by Grand Theft Auto 5, which is second place despite having first released in September 2013. NBA 2K16 was third followed by Star Wars Battlefront and Fallout 4. Minecraft continues to have a strong influence in the charts at sixth place followed by Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege and Madden NFL 16. FIFA 16 is in tenth place for the month.

LEGO Marvel Avengers is the newest entry and debuted in ninth place. Overall physical sales for software were $212.7 million which showed a 10 percent decline from the same month last year. At the time, Dying Light was the biggest new release which had “239 percent more sales” than LEGO Marvel Avengers according to NPD analyst Liam Callahan.

Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has officially been unseated from the UK top 10 for the past week. Who was the conquering challenger? Why, none other than LEGO Marvel Avengers which is now the eighth game in the series to debut at first place in the UK.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is still in second place though followed by FIFA 16, Rainbow Six: Siege and Star Wars Battlefront. Grand Theft Auto 5 is still in the top ten at sixth place because of course it is. This was followed by Just Cause 3 and surprisingly enough, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is in eighth place. Fallout 4 is in ninth place followed by Resident Evil Origins Collection.

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Explorers debuted at eleventh place, just narrowly missing out on tenth place.
