The redevelopment of Deathverse: Let it Die is still in the works, with the game taking on more elements of older title Let it Die.

Supertrick Games director Hideyuki Shin has revealed that as part of the studio’s redevelopment efforts for Deathverse: Let it Die, elements of older title, Let it Die, will also be making it into the game. Shin spoke about the game in a new developer diary, which you can check out below.

“So in the past we released Let it Die and Deathverse,” said Shin in the developer diary. “This time, we’re aiming to make a game that will please both fans of Let it Die and Deathverse.”

Much like Let it Die, Deathverse: Let it Die will also feature roguelike exploration as part of its core gameplay loop. As for multiplayer, the game will feature both co-op, as well as PvP. Shin goes on to mention that the new title will use Let it Die as the foundation for the rest of the game to be built on.

“In short, it’ll be a roguelike exploration game featuring both co-op and player-versus-player, said Shin. “It’ll be taking the good parts from Let it Die. Actually, more accurately it’ll be using Let it Die as a base to build on.”

Deathverse: Let it Die was originally released on PC and PlayStation back in 2022. 2023, however, Supertrick Games announced that the game’s online services were being suspended. Deathverse: Let it Die has, since then, been under redevelopment with Hideyuki Shin taking on the role of its director.

Way back in 2016, Let It Die launched. The game had a lot of the signature weirdness we’ve come to know and love from Grasshopper, along with a surprisingly solid hack and slash gameplay system. The roguelike caught several by surprise, and it seems, despite the name, it’s going to be living on for the foreseeable future.

Via a press release, publisher GungHo Entertainment announced the game had passed a major milestone- it’s surpassed 6 million downloads. That’s up 2 million from the last we heard in February 2018. The game is free-to-play, of course, so that doesn’t necessarily represent the money made, but 6 million downloads across only two platforms (PS4 and PC) is nothing to sneeze at.

An in-game event is planned for the milestone, but no details were given as of now. The game is currently running and free-to-play to all PS4 players, as well as on PC via Steam. We’ll keep you updated on more milestones as well as details on the upcoming event.

The bizarre hack-n-slash action title's PC launch is not too long away now.

Let It Die, the bizarre action title developed by Grasshopper Manufacture that originally launched for the PS4, was recently confirmed to be coming to PC in Fall 2018 as well, and now its Steam Page has revealed the its release date, along with the system requirements that’ll be needed if you want to run the game.

If you’ve been waiting to try this hack-and-slash game out for PC, you will soon be able to do so, as the game’s PC version releases on September 26, which is just a couple of weeks away- less than that, actually. Let it Die brings a lot of unique aspects together, such as the core mechanic ‘death data’, which sends a ghostly spectre of your character from the moment of death to someone else’s game.

If you’re considering getting the game for PC, you should first take a look at the full system requirements below. On recommended requirements, you’ll require an Intel Core i7 4700 processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 graphics card, while recommended requirements stipulate an i7 7700 processor, and a GTX 1080.

Let It Die is currently available for the PS4, in case you don’t want to wait for the PC release.

Grasshopper Manufacture's trippy action title will be available via Steam later this year.

Grasshopper Manufacture’s bizarre hack and slash title Let It Die has only been available on the PS4 up until now. However, this Fall, that will change, as the developer has announced a PC release for the game as well. It will be available on Steam at launch.

Let It Die has gained recognition for a number of reasons, not the least of which includes its amazing soundtrack encompassing numerous artists and composed by Silent Hill legend Akira Yamaoka. Its core mechanic is “death data”, which takes your loadout every time you die and sends a ghostly spectre of your character to someone else’s game to fight them.

So while permadeath is a thing and you need to work your way up to a strong build, there is a lot of unpredictably on offer as well to mix things up (including Uncle Death, who seems to be a trippier version of the Grim Reaper). Having crossed four million downloads on February 12th 2018, Let It Die has been a rather surprising amount of success, especially considering how long its been development.

GungHo Online Entertainment has games for smartphones, consoles and "new fields" coming.

You’ve probably stumbled across GungHo Online Entertainment every now and then. It’s served as the publisher for games such as Dokuro and Grandia 2: Anniversary Edition. Recently, it published Grasshopper Manufacture’s free to play title Let It Die. Apparently the company has quite the slate of new releases coming up as indicated in its Q1 fiscal year 2018 results briefing (via ResetEra).

Essentially, the company said that it had ten “new release pipelines” and noted that games would be releasing on smartphones, consoles and “new fields”. One is assuming that these new pipelines are brand new games although we’re still curious about “new fields”. Whether they’re new platforms or something the company hasn’t really tried before – like Virtual Reality – remains to be seen.

Either way, you can look forward to more information at E3 2018 from June 12th to 14th. Don’t expect Grasshopper and Suda51 to have something ready since the studio is developing Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes for the Nintendo Switch. What do you hope to see from GungHo Online Entertainment? Let us know in the comments.

Free to play action game hits a major milestone.

Suda51’s Grasshopper Manufacture’s Let It Die, the roguelike action game that they launched for the PS4 at the end of 2016 to great player reception and acclaim, has now apparently hit a major milestone- it has been downloaded 4 million times since its release.

The game is, of course, a free to play title, which means that the number of downloads in and of itself isn’t a very representative stat; but with that said, 4 million downloads is impressive, no matter how you slice it. The previous major milestone the game hit was 3 million downloads, which was back in May 2017, so it looks like the pace has sort of slowed down a bit since then.

If you haven’t already tried the game, feel free to download it and check it out for yourself- the monetization in the game is unintrusive, and the actual action gameplay is hugely satisfying, and should speak to a generation of gamers brought up on a diet of Dark Souls, and other games following in its vein.

People won't let this game die.

I’m not sure many people expected much from GungHo Entertainment’s Let It Die, right until the moment it released- at which point, it revealed itself to be an excellent, compelling roguelike, that everyone ended up falling in love with. This reflected in the success the game saw, too- last month, GungHo revealed that the game had crossed a million downloads worldwide.

Today, that number has climbed up to 2 million downloads worldwide, meaning a lot more people have been playing and trying Suda51’s free to play roguelike action game for themselves. While we don’t know how many people have purchased content for the game, or how much – since this is how the game will actually make money, this is the metric that we presume GungHo are most interested in – but if so many people are playing the game, it’s not a stretch to assume that a lot of them may be purchasing content for it, too.

Let It Die is available exclusively on the PS4.

Grasshopper Manufacture’s long-delayed Let It Die finally released in December, going live at Sony’s PlayStation Experience. The free to play PS4 title was met with average critical reviews but as a whole, it’s not the worst way to spend your free time, especially with its unique aesthetic and gameplay mechanics.

Plenty of PS4 players agree as the developer announced on its Facebook page that Let It Die has been downloaded one million times and “continues to grow each day.” A special event will be held from January 6th to 8th, handing out a free Death Metal each day for those who log in. More details will be coming soon though as per the post so keep your eyes peeled.

What are your thoughts on Let It Die and the madness of Suda 51 in the online, free to play form? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information.

Dead Rising 4 gets the worst score.

Just how good is The Last Guardian now that it’s finally out? Edge has released its brand new swath of ratings and the long awaited game got the highest rating of them all.

The Edge review scores show that The Last Guardian scored a 9 in their review scores. Just how good is that score? It’s not only the highest rating of the recent group, it’s also the only one that got a 9. The only game that even came close to getting that score was Superhot VR which scored an 8.

Perhaps the most surprising score in this group is Final Fantasy 15, which earned just a 7. Other games on the list include I Expect You To Die (7), Dead Rising 4 (6), Steep (7), Let it Die (7), and Super Mario Run which also got a seven. The 9 rating is especially interesting for The Last Guardian when you take into account that sales for the game, at least right after launch, were not that good.

Grasshopper's action title finally emerges.

Grasshopper Manufacture’s oft-delayed free to play action title Let It Die was one of the many titles to come out of hibernation at the PlayStation Experience. It was pretty much in the same style as Shadows of the Damned or Lollipop Chainsaw but centered around death. This is a game about killing people and even more weirdly, it’s available now for PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe. Yes, today.

The free to play experience seems to be part-survival as you start out naked but quickly garner resources by killing enemies. There are online components involved but there’s plenty of story – or at least bizarre NPCs to encounter – so there is that.

Let It Die is exclusive to the PlayStation 4. What are your thoughts on the game suddenly being released for the console? Will that affect its popularity or was this the best possible move, given its presence at PlayStation Experience? Let us know what you think in the comments.
