Diablo Immortal

The day it was announced, nearly everyone expected Diablo Immortal to be a pay-to-win shitshow. The final product somehow exceeded their wildest expectations with a battle pass, premium battle pass, empowered battle pass, materials, bundles, cosmetics – anything and everything was for sale. Let’s not even get into entire endgame mechanics – like Awakening – only accessible by spending money. The real tragedy is that even if that was all stripped away, you’re left with a middling, dumbed-down clone of Diablo 3 with a terrible UI and loot.

As for the reason behind the delay, the developer cited the current pandemic. It wants to “alleviate any additional pressure” on the team by providing more time between the release of Life is Strange: True Colors and the Remastered Collection. More details will be revealed in the coming months but a first look trailer will premiere tomorrow for Wavelengths in the meantime.

Life is Strange: Remastered Collection is in development for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, Google Stadia and Nintendo Switch. Along with the first two games in the series, which sport improved visuals, it also adds improvements to the gameplay and puzzles. Bonus content like the Farewell episode and Chloe’s outfits are also included.

Along with improved visuals, the character animation has been improved. Facial expressions have been fully motion captured but unfortunately, this only applies to Life is Strange Remastered. The gameplay and puzzles are also seeing some updates though Deck Nine hasn’t revealed the same just yet. Nevertheless, the decisions governing the future of Arcadia Bay look as emotionally charged as well.

Life is Strange: Remastered Collection is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. It includes remasters of the first game and Life is Strange: Before the Storm along with additional content like the bonus episode “Farewell” and outfits for Chloe. The gameplay and puzzles have also apparently seen some updates but we’ll have to wait and see how that works. Life is Strange: Remastered Collection will be coming to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC and Google Stadia. Square Enix’s E3 2021 showcase will take place tomorrow at 12:15 PM PT so expect more details there.

Life is Strange fans can expect a “deep dive” into Life is Strange: True Colors and a “first look” at Life is Strange: Remastered Collection. Babylon’s Fall recently had a closed beta page pop up on SteamDB so it’s likely that more gameplay and a possible release date will be provided. Of course, there’s also the possibility of Final Fantasy Origin, a rumored Souls-like developed by Team Ninja and set in the world of Final Fantasy 1, making an appearance.

E3 2021 kicks off on June 12th with showcases by Ubisoft and Gearbox Entertainment. It will run till June 15th and feature titles from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, Warner Bros. Games, Take Two Interactive, Capcom and much more. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Square Enix recently announced Life is Strange: True Colors, a new title in the series from Deck Nine Games. It’s set in a new location called Haven and focuses on Alex, who has a short-lived reunion with her brother before his demise. She thus sets out to discover the truth using her unique power to sense people’s emotions.

The biggest change from previous games is that Life is Strange: True Colors isn’t episodic – the full game can be played from start to finish at launch. Alex will have two romantic interests throughout, one being Steph from the first Life is Strange. Interestingly, Steph also gets her own unique story in “Wavelengths.” It takes place one year before Alex’s arrival in Haven and sees her as the DJ and radio host of KRCT.

Along with choosing songs and ad-libbing through commercials, Steph will also provide advice to callers, act as a tabletop RPG GM and even “reconnect with an old friend.” The story progresses through four seasons and sees Steph’s room change, showcasing more of her personality and past in the process. “Wavelengths” is included in Life is Strange: True Colors Deluxe and Ultimate Editions, with the former also including the base game and a Hero Outfit Pack with four costumes for Alex.

The Ultimate Edition includes the same content along with Life is Strange Remastered Collection, which offers remasters for Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm. Life is Strange: True Colors is out on September 10th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Google Stadia.
