The idler/adventure game hybrid finally comes console side with the Switch version next month.

Earlier this year, we got another strange and interesting game from Devolver Digital in Loop Hero. The title saw you play a Knight who has woken up in a destroyed world as you rebuild it and face all kinds of terrors as you try and piece together what happened as well as some semblance of structure of the world that once was. It combined elements of idlers, roguelikes and card games to create a very neat experience. The game was a hit on PC when it launched, and now it will come to consoles next month.

It was announced the game would be coming to Switch sometime this holiday season earlier in the year. Now Devolver and developer Four Quarters announced that it would release in December. Like when the game launched for PC, it will be $14.99 USD, but will have a pre-order discount. You can see the purchase page through here.

Loop Hero is available now for PC and will launch on Nintendo Switch on December 9th. As of now, no other platforms have been announced.

The indie idler sensation launched on PC earlier this year, and is now console bound later this year to Nintendo's hybrid.

Earlier this year we saw the release of Loop Hero. The indie title from small developer Four Quarters and publisher Devolver Digital was a unique take on the ‘idler’ game. The game did very well for itself, considering its humble beginnings, and has only been on PC since its initial launch. Later this year, that will change.

As announced in the most recent Indie World mini-Direct from Nintendo, Loop Hero will be coming to the Switch. There isn’t much in the video announcement, which you can see below. So whether or not the game will have any additional content isn’t clear, but presumably it will at least have all the updates the current PC version has.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it follows an unnamed hero as they awaken in a world that has been largely destroyed with no memories of the past outside that the damage was caused by a being known as The Lich. You move around on a set path and set down cards that transform the area around you until you eventually face the boss of the area, while encountering various characters and creatures as you unravel the mystery of your new world.

Loop Hero is available now on PC and will release on the Nintendo Switch this holiday season. There is no word on other platforms as of now.

Future updates will add saving during expeditions, boss trait decks and speed options.

In its first week of launch, Rogue-lite idle RPG Loop Hero has sold over 500,000 units. Developed by Four Quarters and published by Devolver Digital, the title had an average user playtime of 12 hours. Its soundtrack is also the fastest selling in Devolver’s history.

Over on Steam, the developer thanked fans for their support and revealed upcoming quality of life patches in the works. These include new speed settings, the ability to save during expeditions and even trait decks from bosses. It also confirmed that “lots more content” would be added like new classes, transformations and cards.

Loop Hero is currently available for PC. The story is set after the end of the world as a lone hero sets out to discover what happened. The player is on a set looping path as part of a randomly generated run but can place different environments, buildings and enemies on it with cards. Different card interactions have different effects and it’s possible to attain resources to upgrade one’s camp. Stay tuned for more details on future updates.

The Steam Game Festival returns and once again offers quite the number of free demos for players to try. There are more than 500 demos to sift through until February 9th, many of them new and others returning.
If you’re keen on trying out any demos, then there’s Loop Hero, Devolver Digital’s upcoming deck-building rogue-lite with a charming pixel art-style. Windjammers 2 is also worth checking out to see how the classic has transitioned over to its new art-style. Happy Game is also worth noting – it’s a horror adventure title from Amanita Design of Creaks and Botanicula fame.

Following the Steam Game Festival’s conclusion is the Steam Lunar New Year sale. It’s rumored to take place on February 11th and will offer numerous sales. Whether the Night Market, which offers a number of different chat stickers, profile backgrounds and more to acquire with Points, will return remains to be seen so stay tuned.
