Flash drive installations are a no-no.

The Xbox 360 version of DICE’s Battlefield 4, released recently in North America, has been facing issues due to the mandatory install required for the game along with an optional 5.8 GB install for the single-player and an optional multiplayer install which requires 6.6 GB. EA Support has tried to address some major issues that have been occurring, and clarified that you won’t be able to install the game data on a flash drive.

According to the support team, data “can only be installed on Xbox 360 hard disk drives, and cannot be installed to USB drives, or other alternative storage devices. Battlefield 4 cannot be installed and played on a 4GB internal flash drive. You will have the option to accept the 2GB install or quit. Quitting will return you to the Xbox dashboard, and you will not be able to play Battlefield 4.

“If you do try to install the optional disc-content before the required game data installation, your install will stop before completion, and ask you to install again. If your install does fail due to installing content in the incorrect order, your second or subsequent attempts at installing the required content should complete successfully.”

No doubt other issues will crop up, such as this infinite loading screen for the Xbox 360 version which has been addressed in the new multiplayer update. But this can’t be good news for those with small hard drives looking to install all the optional content. What are your thoughts on the same? Let us know below. And before you ask: no, this won’t be an issue when the PS4 and Xbox One versions release on November 15th/29th in North America/Europe and November 22nd respectively.

Shuhei Yoshida answers queries leading up to the PS4's launch.

President of Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment Shuhei Yoshida took to Twitter to clarify several facts regarding the upcoming PlayStation 4, including the patch that users will need to download on launch day.

First off, you won’t need to worry about the patch keeping you from your games. Yoshida has revealed that you can download the 300 MB patch in the background while you play.

@FjN93 yes

— Shuhei Yoshida (@yosp) October 26, 2013

Yoshida also confirmed that you can have both game chat and game audio running simultaneously through the DualShock 4 headset, and you can even use the official Vita headset too if you so desire.

@yosp can we have game chat and game audio running at same time though dualshock4 headset port? can we use official vita headset too?

— Carlos Rodriguez (@kaarloss78) October 21, 2013

@kaarloss78 yes, and yes

— Shuhei Yoshida (@yosp) October 22, 2013

For games that support couch co-op, you’ll be able to use Remote Play on the Vita and have a second player join you using the DualShock 4. As of now, Knack has been confirmed to have this feature. It’ll depend on third party publishers if they implement the same in their games.

@jeedee if the game has same couch coop, it will

— Shuhei Yoshida (@yosp) October 26, 2013

Information was also provided on mandatory versus optional installs, though the answer might not be what most people were expecting.

@DiamondDM13 it’s automatic, not install but caching data

— Shuhei Yoshida (@yosp) October 26, 2013

There’s still a ways to go for the PS4, so stay tuned as we anticipate its launch on November 15th/29th in North America/Europe.

Grand Theft Auto V, if it hasn’t been said enough times, is the biggest game of the year and will end up being the biggest open world adventure Rockstar Games has ever created. With three controllable protagonists with their own missions, tons of new activities and combined heist missions – not to mention an enormous world consisting of Los Santos, Blaine County and a new underwater setting – that’s a whole lotta game we’re getting.

Rockstar Games has stated that GTA V will be shipping on two discs and requiring a mandatory install for both consoles. There’s been quite the outburst regarding the same, but Rockstar Games has tweeted a big enough justification for the large install size.

A bigger install means a bigger game. I don't know why some of you are complaining.

— Grand Theft Auto V (@RockstarGTAV) July 26, 2013

Good enough for you? More content means more of the game, which means more fun (if the game is good, of course). Grand Theft Auto V is set to release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17th.
