Good track design is one of the most crucial and fundamental elements in any racing game, and given the fact that Mario Kart is one of the best racing franchises out there, it’s not surprising that it has no shortage of excellent tracks. Picking out the fifteen best ones from a repository of well over a hundred tracks is far from an easy track, but here, that’s what we’ll be doing, as we count down the top fifteen tracks in the entire Mario Kart series.

#15. MAKA WUHU

Set in and around an active volcano, Maka Wuhu is one of the most dynamic and visually diverse tracks in Mario Kart 7. From beautiful scenery and plenty of drifting opportunities to avoiding giant falling rocks and jumping off a cliff’s edge and paragliding through the air, Maka Wuhu keeps throwing interesting new elements at the player from beginning to end.

UK WII CHARTS: Zumba Fitness tops again, Xenoblade and Mario Kart impress

Zumba Fitness which has been topping the Wii charts for so many week, and did so last week too, was the highest selling Wii game in UK for the week ending September 17th.

Just Dance 2 came in second, with Mario Kart Wii and Xenoblade Chronicles rising their 4th and 5th position respectively to one position higher.

Cars 2 followed at 5, then Wii Party, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns, uDraw and Super Mario Galaxy 2 entering the list again at 10 rounding off the top ten.

Pokemon Black/White Lifetime Sales Over 12 Million, Mario Kart Wii Over 28 Million

Amidst all the bad news for Nintendo lately, here’s a lone bright spot- along with Ocarina of Time 3D, which was reported to have sold in excess of a million units worldwide yesterday, two more Nintendo games- Pokemon Black and White for the DS, the latest blockbuster installment in the long running franchise; and Mario Kart Wii, Nintendo’s latest evergreen entry in its long running mascot kart racer series- have shipped in excess of a million units in the past quarter, bringing up their lifetime sales totals to some impressive numbers.

This brings the grand total sales of Pokemon Black and White to 12.87 million units, just a few hundred thousand shy of the 13 million mark. Mario Kart Wii on the other hand has sold a staggering 28.23 million units, making it the highest selling non bundled game in history.

One has to wonder if the upcoming Mario Kart 7 will be able to replicate the success of Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii, both of which sold in excess of 20 million units.
