Your primary progression in Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is governed by the weapons you have (though of course, you upgrade your characters, too). As such, finding new weapons can be paramount. In this guide, we tackle the location of the weapons hidden about in the first three worlds of the game.

WORLD 1

Killer Extinct
Go through the blue cannon and collect all the rings

Bwah Blaster
Activate a yellow switch in order to activate the red ring and unlock a chest

Gold Weapons
Beat the World’s secret level.

Gold Weapons
Finding Gold Weapons requires you to beat the World’s secret level

Rumble Bee
Activate the Red Ring in 1-1, and collect the weapon from the chest after collecting the coins

Turbine
After using the first canon in 1-2, use the canon on the right to get launched into a special stage. Complete the special stage

Rainbow Runner
Activate the red ring near the stone maze area and get this from the chest in World 1-4.

Spike Striker
In 1-5, after crossing the wooden bridges, hit the green switch, and enter the blue cannon. Complete the challenge.

Bowser Basher
After collecting the Spike Striker, return to the wooden bridges, and hit all the switches, and activate the Red Ring.

WORLD 2

Thunderceptor
From the previous weapon, continue down the path, and activate a yellow switch. A little ahead, go through the blue cannon, and complete the challenge

Special Delivery
In 2-8, activate the red ring in the frost maze

Hog Wild
Push boxes down a frosty path at Peach’s Castle- this should unlock a Red Ring, which you can activate to unlock a chest.

Bwahnzai Bill
In 2-1, push a ball down a slope; this should allow you to activate a Red Ring, and in turn, a chest.

Brute
In 2-3, you will come across a cannon and a chest. You need to progress through the cannon and complete the challenge.

Prickly Persuader
While crossing the wooden bridges, activate the Red Ring.

WORLD 3

Royal Rabbid
You need to pick up the statues and activate the Red Ring.

Thorn Scorn
In 3-1, go through a tube to activate a Red Ring.

Crosshead Orb
Go through a blue cannon and save Toadette. Once you are down, complete the Challenge.

No Pity Kitty
It’s next to the Boo statue.

Hydrant Hammer
You need to go through the blue cannon immediately after the boss battle and complete the challenge

Brunnehildea
At the end of 3-7, activate the Red Ring.

If you need help hunting all of this down, boy, have we got the guide for you (it’s this one FYI, just in case you were wondering).

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is out now, and it has turned out to be a great game, against all expectations, and beyond the wildest hopes and dreams. The charming take on XCOM in the Mushroom Kingdom has a flavor unique to it- supplemented by the fact that the game has nuanced gameplay that is compelling, wrapped up in an accessible package that evokes the best parts of Mario.

One of those parts includes the spectacular boss battles Mario is known for- of course, there are boss battles here, in this game, too.
Some tips to collect coins quickly in Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.

Coins are, much like in the actual Mario games themselves, the primary currency in Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. You use them to buy new weapons- and since weapons are how your progression is measured in this game, you want to be able to buy better ones.

This, in turn, means that you want to be able to earn as many coins as possible when playing the game. This guide has some basic tips and tricks to maximize your coin yield:

Perform your best in battle. The yield is higher for getting through a battle in a fewer number of turns (below the ‘par’ for the course), and for not losing any party members- so, if something is not going your way, consider restarting the battle to maximize your coin yield.

Collect coins in the overworld. This seems like the dumbest, most obvious thing to say, but make sure that you pick up every coin you can get to while navigating the overworld

Collect coins during battle. Sometimes, coins show up on the battlefield, or they show up when you destroy cover or blocks, or when you get a Golden Shot on an enemy and cause them to explode in a shower of coins. No matter how, the same rule applies- if you see coins, make sure to grab every last one of them

Replay existing missions.

Challenge mode. Challenges are offered by Rabbids dressed as Toads throughout the Mushroom Kingdom- these net coins, and moreover, they can be replayed, too.

Some general tips to get going in Mario's latest crossover.

Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle may look like a cutesy, simplified take on the XCOM formula- but it has its own nuances, and it can be uncharacteristically difficult if you let it catch you off guard. There are a fair few things to keep track of in battle- and in this guide, we walk you through some of them, so you don’t ever get caught wrong footed by those pesky Rabbids.

HEALING

Arguably what makes the game hardest is the fact that there is basically no healing- and not just that, but your health is persistent battle to battle within a chapter in the game. All of which is to say, health is a precious commodity.

There are a few ways of restoring health- Red Mushrooms can restore some, but they are very rare, and not all that effective to begin with; Rabbid Queen has a Heal ability, although it comes with a cooldown period; Rabbid Peach has a Heal, too, though you need 20 orbs to unlock it on her skill tree.

CO-OP

Co-op is unlocked after beating the first world- and you unlock more co-op campaigns as you beat more of the main campaign by going to the Buddy Dome in Peach’s Castle. Keep the following in mind regarding the co-op:

It is only playable locally

Friendly fire is a thing in this mode- try not to catch your friend in your line of fire.

TIPS AND TRICKS

Take your time in the overworld. Don’t just move from one area to the next- take your time, explore, poke around, and uncover secrets.

Upgrade weapons. Weapons are the primary way your progression in this game is measured, which means you need to keep buying better weapons for all your characters the first chance you get

Upgrade characters. Use the skill tree to upgrade more abilities for each character- and possibly, even to specialize them and give them specific roles in combat

Experiment with your team makeup. This goes without saying- like any strategy game, you want to swap your roster out and see what team makeup you do best with. There are many characters, and each have their own perks and disadvantages. Figure out who works best for you, and keep switching out, using different compositions for different situations

Use your characters’ abilities and techniques. Each character gets unique abilities and techniques, in addition to general ones such as Dash and Team Jump- use these to turn the tides of battle in your favor. Experiment with them to see which characters you like best

Making your characters more versatile in Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.

Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is a tactics and strategy game- which means that you need to be cognizant of each character, their abilities, their positioning on the battlefield, their limitations, their current status, and more, to do well.

Things get more complicated when you consider that each character can be further upgraded, via a skill tree, unlocking more abilities and techniques for them to use in battle, and even giving them specializations and roles in battle.

So, first, let’s discuss how you do this:

Beat the first world (Ancient Forest) boss; doing so gives you 10 Power Orbs. Power Orbs are the XP equivalent of the game

At this point, you can access the Skill Tree in the Battle HQ

Each character has their own Skill Tree, and their own pool of Power Orbs to draw from

Invest Power Orbs into abilities that catch your attention

Now, for the actual abilities and powers for each character, the video below will walk you through the best ones for each of the eight characters in the game:

Mario

Luigi

Peach

Yoshi

Rabbid Mario

Rabbid Luigi

Rabbid Peach

Rabbid Yoshi

Some basic tips for leveling up and upgrading your characters.

Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is a strategy RPG- which means, obviously, that you are going to have to level up your characters. And while there isn’t a traditional level system with XP, you still have to invest in character skill trees to unlock more abilities for them.

So, here’s how this works:

Your character automatically ‘levels up’ when you finish a world

You can choose the Skill Tree option in the Battle HQ; this lets you directly select what abilities and techniques to invest your Power Orbs into for each character

Power Orbs are obtained by finishing a chapter, defeating a boss, completing challenges, and opening chests in the overworld

There is no way to expedite this process- you can replay challenges to grind Orbs, and you can use those Orbs to level up, but the cost of subsequent abilities increases way too fast for you to be able to keep up with it meaningfully. This means that the best thing for you to do is to play the game naturally, but be thorough and comprehensive, and make choices about what you want each character to be.
