Telltale Games has been hitting home runs left and right since the initial release of The Walking Dead episodes and it has plenty of other big games planned with The Walking Dead: Season 3 and Minecraft: Story Mode. You can now add Marvel to that list as the developer and Marvel revealed they were partnering up for a new series project set to release in 2017.

Telltale stated on its blog that, “Announced this evening in San Francisco, we’re excited to reveal an all-new partnership with the incredible team at Marvel Entertainment. We’ll be teaming up on the development of an upcoming Telltale game series project set to première in 2017!”

No details have been released yet but we’re still a long way off from the project’s debut. Telltale Games is also currently busy with Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands which still have episodes left in their first reason run. Marvel Entertainment has announced a new mobile, free to play co-op brawler for iOS and Android called Marvel Mighty Heroes. Developed by DeNA, it will be launching “soon” for mobile devices.

Players can look forward to a diverse list of heroes including Star Lord, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, Black Widow, Iron Man and more. There will be dozens of characters to choose from and this may include a few villains as well. You can customize your character’s skills throughout and team up with three other players for combined action. Online leaderboards will help you keep track of your progress worldwide.

We get a look at the action (of course) and set-pieces that will be making up the game, along with the arsenal that Deadpool will be using. The entire trailer is incredibly well-made and very much made in the tongue-in-cheek, psychotic narrative style that makes Marvel’s anti-hero so enduring/charming/frightening.

Heck, there’s even a Cable cameo which quickly devolves into hilarity. And then more explosions and shooting because there are only so many important things that Deadpool was willing to fit in.

Let’s hope Marvel can live up to the astronomical expectations that this trailer is setting. Deadpool will arrive this Summer for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
