Smart Missiles, Unibeams, multi-dashing - Tony Stark can truly do it all and then some in Arc System Works' upcoming fighter.

Following its reveal of the final team for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the Samurai Outriders, Arc System Works has released a new character guide. This time, the focus is on the genius billionaire philanthropist and, in his own words, world-class ass-kicker, Iron Man. Marvel vs. Capcom fans will find plenty familiar here, but this version of Tony Stark offers plenty of new tricks.

Besides unleashing a Unibeam, multiple projectiles and enabling flight for a limited time in mid-air, he can also fire Smart Missiles. Given their delay, it’s possible to charge an opponent before they land. The ability to Multi-Dash also allows for hefty mix-ups, and skills like Iron Avenger let you rush down foes before they have a chance to react.

His Ultimate Skill, Champion Buster, is also a nice callback and has likely been designed to contend with the antagonist, the Champion. Whether it can succeed where the Hulk and Sentinel Busters failed remains to be seen, but watching him team up with it to channel a massive death laser in his Tōkon Assemble attack is cool.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches on August 6th for PS5 and PC. However, an open beta is set for July 24th to 26th, featuring much of the playable roster – including the newly revealed Blade.

An open beta has also been announced for July 24th to 26th on PS5 and PC - just one week before the game's worldwide launch.

During this year’s Evo, Arc System Works revealed the final team coming to Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls: The Midnight So – er, Samurai Outriders. Alongside Ghost Rider, it includes Blade, Deadpool and, strangely enough, Loki. Check out the reveal trailer below.

If that sounds like a motley group without any sense of cohesion, you’re right, and Episode Mode, the game’s de facto story, focuses on how they start working together. As for their fighting styles, Blade harnesses Muramasa, which must be unsealed to deal significant damage, but he can also throw a stake to stop enemies in their tracks.

Loki, just like in the MCU, is all about illusions and magic. When he’s not countering foes, he’s using ice and fire attacks while moving around quickly to take advantage. As for Deadpool, he’s about as you’d expect – specializing in guns, swords, and more, though you need to beware of self-damage. Why do some of his moves resemble other fighting game characters? A mystery for another time, perhaps.

Throughout all this, we can see one of the new stages, Asgard, which features iconic locations like Yggdrasil and the Bifrost Bridge. But perhaps the most exciting news coming out of this is an open beta from July 24th to 26th for PS5 and PC (which requires a PlayStation account). Loki and Deadpool won’t be available, but you can harness Blade.

It goes live a week before the game’s launch on August 6th, so stay tuned for more details and character guide videos. Check out Ms Marvel’s repertoire here in the meantime.

With stunning elasticity and the ability to increase the size of her limbs, Kamala Khan can move fast and dish out big damage.

Arc System Works continue to roll out the character guides for its Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, this time shining the spotlight on Ms. Marvel. As part of the Amazing Guardians with Star-Lord, Spider-Man and Peni Parker, her unique trait is the ability to stretch and pull herself towards opponents.

It may seem simple at first but much like Captain America’s Trick Shield, the potential for combos and mix-ups is pretty strong. Not only can it be used in mid-air to reach the ground faster but she can also pull herself away and offers a unique dash for evading attacks and immediately following up. It’s also baked into her assists, which makes swapping to Ms. Marvel after a successful execution feel more fluid.

Of course, she can also use Embiggen as an Ultimate Skill to dish out some serious damage and clap fools with two gargantuan hands as part of her Tōkon Assemble attack. This is only available in the last round of a match where you could lose, though, so make it count.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is available on August 6th for PS5 and PC, and while there are still plenty of character guides to go, we’ve also yet to see the final team, led by Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks.

Mr Stars and Stripes still excels at fighting up close, but his unique passive lets you bounce shield throws back and forth with style.

When you think of Captain America, the image of a brawler with a shield throw comes to mind. While Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls sticks to that fantasy, it’s expanding on the shield shenanigans in some interesting ways, as indicated in the first Character Guide.

Pressing any of Cap’s Light, Medium and Heavy attacks in quick succession will unleash some pretty hard-hitting combos. It’s when you use Trick Shield that things get interesting, as it can ricochet vertically, horizontally, and diagonally. Even better is that when it returns, you can hit it again to send it flying back at an opponent.

This also works with the dedicated projectile attack, Shield Strike, and is perfect for setting up combos that chain into other skills like Soaring Justice. It comes into play during one of his Assist types as well, and since you can actively swap during the same, it’s a great way to keep the other side guessing.

Of course, even with his five-star ease-of-use, there’s plenty more complexity to Captain America. The guide also offers a look at Tōkon Assemble, a comeback mechanic available when losing the current round would end the match. It lets you call in the Fighting Avengers for a four-on-one beatdown before ending in a massive Soaring Justice.

With Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls out on August 6th for PS5 and PC, expect even more Character Guides ahead of launch. There are also more characters yet to be revealed, namely Ghost Rider’s team, so stay tuned for a possible shadow drop in the coming weeks.

We might be halfway through the year with some great titles already behind us, but we’re certain that the best is yet to come.

It’s always fun to hype ourselves up for great games that are coming our way. We’ve all done it at some point, and we’d say that 2026 is a fine year for it considering the line-up of titles that we’re waiting to dive into.

It’s quite the list, and we’re sure that you share our excitement for a majority of them. Without further ado, let’s get started!

1. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

Getting to return to the Caribbean to join Edward Kenway on his epic journey from a callous pirate to a noble Assassin is definitely something we’re very excited about. A revamped combat system, some extra story cutscenes, and those delightful visuals are just icing on the cake. This one comes out on July 9, 2026, for the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC.

2. EA Sports College Football 27

The College Football franchise has been doing quite well for itself in recent years, and we don’t see why this year should be any different. We already know it’s bringing quite the roster for us to enjoy, with some very attractive goodies for those who pre-order any of its editions. Once again, it releases on July 9, 026, for the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC.

3. Palworld 1.0 Release

We were blown away by the cinematic trailer that this one dropped recently, and it showcases stunning new locations with fascinating creatures for us to collect over the course of our adventure. It’s touted to be the game’s biggest update yet, and is sure to bring a lot of exciting new additions to the table as it brings us to the story’s finale when it drops on July 10, 2026, for all available platforms.

4. Splatoon Raiders

Getting to join a pirate musician group that’s raiding the Spirhalite Islands for treasure? Sign us up! Yesterday’s Direct showcase gave us quite a good look at this one, and it only made us all the more excited to try out its paint-based weapons, great progression systems, and of course, the Exploration Bot. Talk about the efficient use of tech. It’s slated for a June 30 release on the Switch 2.

5. Halo: Campaign Evolved

We’re still not over that awesome trailer that showed off the new Covenant faction, some very interesting footage from the new prequel missions, and of course, the return of Master Chief. The new weapons are equally intriguing, and we can’t wait to dive in and get blasting when this one releases for the XBOX Series X|S, PC, and PS5 on July 28 this year.

6. Beast of Reincarnation

Any journey that gives you a furry friend for company is definitely worth undertaking, in our book. When you combine that with some parry-focused Soulslike action and a very cool set of powers for Emma, the game’s protagonist, you get the recipe for a game that’s sure to have us grinding our teeth in frustration but determined to end whatever the Hush throws at us. It’s slated to release on August 4 for the PS5, PC, and XBOX Series X|S.

7. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

With a starting roster that brings some of Marvel’s best to the table for an action-packed gameplay loop, this one is definitely going to keep us occupied for quite a while. We’re particularly interested in the Episode Mode, where you participate against the enigmatic Champion in a Tournament where you’re surely going to have to bring your best skills to the table. Look our for this one on August 6 on your PC or PS5.

8. Mafia: The Old Country – Man of Honour

An expansion that doubles up on the nostalgia factor that put this one on the map in the first place is certainly welcome. It’s even better when it gives us a look at Don Salieri’s early days before his time in America that set the entire franchise in motion. The trailer was pretty interesting despite being a little to stingy with details, but it did tell us that this one’s releasing on August 14, 2026, on all available platforms.

9. The Sinking City 2

Lovecraftian adventures are always a great combination of thrills and chills, and the Slither is looking like a foe you don’t want to tangle with unless you’re Calvin Rafferty. Of course, the Deep Ones and Shadows are equally credible threats, and we’re quite curious to see how this one has us dealing with them when it comes out on August 18 for the PS5, PC, and XBOX Series X|S. There’s even a playable demo on Steam if you want to try it before buying it.

10. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam

We were pretty bummed about this one getting delayed to August 13 but do appreciate Team 17 taking player feedback and the results from its own playtests seriously enough to ask for more time to further polish this one before releasing it for all of us. We’re hoping it builds on everything that was good about its predecessor while adding interesting new twists to the table.

11. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2

If you’ve been with us for a while, you probably already guessed that this one is definitely something we’re eager to dive into. The chance to revisit two titles that cemented our love for the franchise is very welcome, and Solid Snake’s final chapter is the one that has us as excited as we are. Of course, Peace Walker is also something we’re eager to play again, and it’s going to be a difficult choice between them then this one drops on August 27 this year for the PS5, PC, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and the Switch 2.

12. Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

Sophie was among the more interesting characters in Requiem, and her role in Amicia and Hugo’s adventure in that one presented her as a complex and nuanced character. It’s only logical, then, that a look into her early days as a headstrong young smuggler exploring Minotaur Island has us itching to get started with it already. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait too long until this one drops on August 27, 2026, for the PC, PS5, and XBOX Series.

13. Star Wars Zero Company

A ragtag group of mercenaries that include a Jedi, a noble, a droid, and a former Separatist embarking on an adventure set during the Clone Wars is music to the ears of any Star Wars fan, and we’re no exception. The addition of Anakin Skywalker before his turn to the Dark Side is another interesting twist that makes this one a very compelling addition to this list. It’s out on August 27 this year for the PC, PS5, and XBOX Series X|S.

14. Elden Ring Tarnished Edition

The wait for this one has been a long one, but it’s finally coming out on August 28 this year on all available platforms and the Nintendo Switch 2. There’s new weapons, armor, and a very welcome option to customize Torrent being added to the base game and its DLC, and it’s as good a reason as any for us to begin a new playthrough in the run-up to its release. We’re pretty excited, even if that means taking on the Blade of Miquella yet again.

15. EA Sports Madden NFL 27

We were already looking forward to this one before EA highlighted how the Persona Engine is gearing up to make each athlete feel quite unique when they step onto the pitch, aside from the Superstar GOAT progression path giving us a reason to keep coming back to it for more. And that’s only the beginning of all the cool stuff this one’s bringing to the franchise when it releases on August 13, 2026, for the PC, PS5, and XBOX Series X|S.

16. The Blood of Dawnwalker

We’ve been very eager to play this one ever since it was first announced, and the wait for its September 3 release has been tantalizing at best, and agonizing every time we’ve got a new glimpse of its gameplay. Of course, the latest trailer has only exacerbated those feelings as we got to see Coen and Brencis’s fight transcend the passage of time, just as vampires should, making this one a game we’re going to be diving head-first into as soon as we get the chance.

17. Valheim 1.0 Release

The Deep North update and the end of this one’s Early Access period as it makes its PS5 and Switch 2 debut has us very interested in learning what new additions it’s bringing to the table in a survival crafting gameplay loop that’s also a great take on norse mythology. The snowy weather isn’t the only thing to look forward to, as there are going to be new enemies, places, and faces to engage with when it drops on September 9, 2026.

18. Marvel’s Wolverine

Boy, oh boy, was that look that we got into this one at the recent State of Play a good one. Insomniac made a lot of good choices in its take on Logan, and the inclusion of Jean Grey and some very high stakes for the cast make this one a very engaging title indeed. Wolverine looks like a fresh take on a very familiar character, and the mechanics look like they weave his unique powers into the gameplay loop quite well. It’s out on September 15, 2026, and is exclusive to the PS5.

19.Trials In The Sky Second Chapter

We’ve known that this one is coming for a while, and although a concrete release date is yet to be announced, it’s probably going to be out in late September. Its predecessor ended on quite the cliffhanger and it’s quite a tempting title to consider even in the midst of a very crowded release calendar thanks to one of the big names on our list. We’re definitely keeping an eye out for this one.

20. Trine 6: Together in Time

This puzzle platformer brings a vibrant color palette to a world that’s full of mysteries waiting to be explored, and a charming cast aimed at being memorable by virtue of their unique abilities and the synergies they build based off of them. You get to play it with upto three of your buddies, with a bunch of common abilities and a combat system that lets you make the most of them all thrown in. It’s releasing for the PC, PS5, Switch, Switch 2 and XBOX Series X|S on 17 September, 2026.

21. Control Resonant

How did Remedy choose to build on what made the predecessor to this one great? Well, it’s opened up the doors of the FBC and let its protagonist loose in a version of Manhattan that’s been warped beyond recognition. There are enemy designs that range from bizarre to surreal, while the combat takes a more hands-on approach this time around. This one’s out on September 24 for the PC, PS5, and XBOX Series X|S,

22. Hot Wheels Infinite Rush

Based on Mattel’s popular line of collectibles, this one is an open-world arcade racer that ditches photorealism in favor of a more amusing take on Hot Wheels, allowing it to bring its own version of the track sets we’ve always wanted to build to life. It also brings full cross-play compatibility to the table, allowing you to set up evenings of racing that could have you very entertained indeed. It’s coming to the PS5, PC, XBOX Series, and the Switch 2 on September 24, 2026.

23. Silent Hill: Townfall

Simon Ordell’s time in St. Amelia is vastly different from Hinako’s adventure in Silent Hill f, but that doesn’t make it any less unsettling in the limited glimpses we’ve got of this one. It has all the staples of the franchise, such as nasty monsters and an intense, moody setting, coupled with new additions that make this one a game to look forward to if you’ve got nerves of steel. It’s coming out for the PS5 and PC on September 24.

24. Valor Mortis

The chance to play as an undead soldier in a story set during the Napoleonic Wars is definitely something that made us sit up and pay attention, and everything we’ve seen of this one so far points to an experience that’s sure to test our skills and our patience in this first-person Soulslike. Once again, this one’s hitting the shelves on September 24 for the PC and PS5.

25. Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Miyamoto Musashi is back, and he’s bringing the Oni Gauntlet back in all its glory in a title that’s as brutal as they come on the gameplay front. The fight against Shuten-dōji in the recently released trailer was reason enough for us to be interested in this one, but the playable demo now has us itching to get into it in earnest. We’re going to have to wait until September 25 for that chance, though, and it’s coming to the PS5, PC, and XBOX Series X|S.

26. Minecraft Dungeons II

A new evil, two new worlds, and the chance of a closer look at The Nether are all factors that contribute to our enthusiasm for this one. There’s also the new combat that was shown off in a recent trailer to look forward to, alongside the potential for some very cool DLC being added to it after its September 29 release for both iterations of the Switch, PS5, PC, and XBOX Series X|S.

27. Phantom Blade Zero

We’ve got high hopes for this one, and a lot of confidence that it isn’t going to disappoint when it comes out on October 29 after a delay that’s using the extra time for some polishing. It’s combat and traversal mechanics all point to a title that’s slick, fast, and challenging, all of which are very attractive features for any game to have. The premise is equally engaging, and we can’t wait to dive into this one when it comes out for the PS5 and PC.

28. Rayman Legends Retold

It’s always great to see Rayman again, and this time around, the classic character is coming back to the spotlight in style. There’s a fully-3D art style that brings a colorful world to life with aplomb, while the story might be familiar to those of you who’ve played through Rayman Legends. This platformer is definitely worth looking out for, and is coming out October 1, 2026, for the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

29. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve

Taking to the skies in fighter jets is always going to be an exhilarating experience, and the addition of superweapons and the ability to send enemy fighters crashing into one another are all facets that add to the allure of this game. It’s out on October 2 for the PS5, PC, and XBOX Series X|S and there’s an attractive bunch of content for those of you who pre-order it.

30. Gears of War: E-Day

This one’s been a long time coming and we can’t wait to rejoin Marcus Fenix on an adventure that’s going to take us back to the beginning of the war between mankind and The Locusts. Despite the lack of a PS5 version on its October 6 launch date, you’re still going to get to play it on XBOX and PC. It’s also going to be on Game Pass from day one, so there’s that. It’s as action-packed as you’d expect, going by the trailer from the XBOX Games Showcase.

31. Star Wars: Galactic Racer

Pod racing in a galaxy far, far, away sounds like the perfect way to unwind after a long day, doesn’t it? We doubt we’re going to be doing a lot of relaxing after seeing this one in action at the 2026 edition of Summer Game Fest, though. It comes with a lot of tension both on and off the tracks as you race to become the new champion of the Galactic Racing League. This one’s ready to go on October 6 for the PS5, PC, and XBOX Series X|S.

32. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

This 2D side-scrolling Metroidvania puts the Belmont family whip in the hands of a nimble new protagonist who must use it to take on Dracula’s forces in Paris, hitting them where it hurts while getting more powerful in the process. Trailers indicate that exploration is a crucial part of it, along with the potential integration of RPG mechanics into its progression loop. It’s coming to the PS5, PC, XBOX Series X|S, and Switch 2 on October 15, 2026.

33. Grand Theft Auto 6

This one’s certainly one that we’ve all been waiting for with patience (and a fair bit of impatience after last year’s delay), and is sure to take over the discourse around gaming when it arrives. It’s been imposing enough that other developers have done their best to give it a wide berth with some interesting effects on the year’s release calendar that you might have already noticed, even on this list. It’s out on November 19 for the PS5 and XBOX Series X|S, with no news of a PC release at the time of writing.

34. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake

One of the Zelda franchise’s heavy hitters getting a remake is obviously good news. However, Nintendo has been quite cryptic when it comes to details about its gameplay and potential improvements to the Ocarina of Time remake, and there’s no official release date at this time other than a rumored November-December release window. It’s exclusive to the Switch and Switch 2.

35. The Duskbloods

FromSoft has been rather quiet since Nightreign came out, and that’s because it has been hard at work on this PvEvP Switch 2 exclusive that lets you take control of the Bloodsworn, fierce warriors who are competing against each other for possession of the First Blood, although they might find themselves working together when the situation demands it. There are over 12 unique characters to engage with, although we’re yet to get an official release date on it.

And that’s about it for this one. It’s quite a crowded calendar for the second half of the year, but we’re sure a lot of you share our excitement for all the great titles that it’s set to bring. More games, more memories, and more fun is how we’re choosing to look at it.

The villains get their time to shine in a brand-new team trailer for Arc System Works' upcoming fighter, which launches on August 6th.

Arc System Works continues to reveal some high-profile fighters for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and this time, the villains take center stage. Led by Doctor Doom, the Knights of Doom include the likes of Magneto, Carnage, and the Green Goblin. Take a closer look in the latest trailer.

As a long-time nemesis (and sometimes ally) of the X-Men, Magneto utilizes magnetism to deal significant damage from afar and up close. Spider-Man’s arch-enemy keeps away and focuses more on bombs, while his other big-time foe, Carnage, leaps in with brutal strikes and an unhinged mentality. Suffice it to say that the heroes will have their hands full, especially when trying to defeat the Champion.

Launching on August 6th, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be available for PS5 and PC. Previous trailers have confirmed groups such as the Unbreakable X-Men with Wolverine, Storm, Danger, and Magick, and the Fighting Avengers with Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man and Black Panther.

Beyond the online play, there’s also a story in Episode Mode where heroes and villains alike must participate in a tournament against the mysterious Champion with the world at stake. Though there was confusion about whether it would have any playable battles or remain non-interactive like Guilty Gear Strive, Arc System Works quickly clarified that they’re actually “everywhere.”

As for post-launch, the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass is slated to include four new playable characters and a new stage.

Before the Summer of Gaming kicks off, Sony has over 60 minutes of announcements and reveals. Here's what could possibly appear.

The Summer of Gaming returns, and you know what that means. Between the barrage of World Premieres and Muppet cameos at Summer Game Fest, Xbox giving release dates for all its first-party titles away from Grand Theft Auto 6, a PC Gaming Show to rival Saving Private Ryan in length, and a potential Nintendo Direct with several surprises already spoiled, it’s going to be a doozy.

But first and foremost, PlayStation is taking the spotlight with a 60+ minute State of Play on June 2nd. After its incredible showing last February, can it deliver an even bigger show? Maybe, but what can we expect? Here are 15 potential announcements and reveals, starting with…

Control Resonant’s Release Date

Alright, Remedy. We get it. You have a bigger, more ambitious sequel to the excellent Control, complete with deeper combat mechanics, more exciting enemies, tougher boss battles, and art direction that’s completely unlike anything else out there. Since the gameplay reveal happened at the last State of Play, it seems all but a given that a release date should be announced at the next. The wait has been killing us, so it’s now or never.

The Faye Situation

Multiple noted insiders, from NateTheHate to Jason Schreier, reported on its existence, and even a Santa Monica Studio writer indicated that they were working on a “new franchise” in the same universe on their LinkedIn. At this point, how can the spin-off not be revealed? Based on what we know, Faye will take center stage, accompanied by Merlin, a talking sword (so there’s the Arthurian legend covered), and even running into Tyr. It was rumored to be revealed in May or June, and lo and behold, here we are. That means that a potential launch in the first half of 2027 may also happen. Fingers crossed

Kena: Scars of Kosmora Release Date

Another sequel to file into the “bigger and more ambitious” category, Scars of Kosmora marks the return of the intrepid spirit guide, except she’s tougher and possesses more combat prowess. Based on what we’ve seen thus far, some new gameplay, a peek at Kena’s abilities and maybe some more gorgeous sights from Kosmora feel appropriate to showcase. And what better way to top it off than with a release date? As with Control Resonant, the clock is ticking, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Ember Lab wants to fill that “nowhere near GTA 6” slot as well.

Silent Hill: Townfall Release Window

Konami had quite the presence at February’s State of Play. You could call it a one-off to fill some time, but the fact that Silent Hill: Townfall is launching this year, exclusively on PS5 and PC, is set in stone. For now. I’m predicting something different at State of Play – a release window, with a more definitive release date sometime later (maybe at Gamescom Opening Night Live). It all comes down to development progress, which we’re completely in the dark on. Maybe Konami gives this smaller team (backed by Annapurna but still) some more time and delays it, or it goes ahead, marking a third straight year of Silent Hill. Either way, a simple “Autumn” couldn’t hurt, right?

Marvel’s Wolverine Reveals More Characters

You already know that Insomniac is going to show more from Marvel’s Wolverine, and maybe even open up pre-orders afterwards. But besides diving into the nitty-gritty and goriness of combat, who’s to say that some unannounced characters can’t show up? Perhaps, say, other members of the X-Men with a close connection to Logan? If nothing else, it would make for a hype moment (and maybe even more encouragement to pre-order).

Intergalactic Resurfaces

Last December, Naughty Dog was allegedly targeting mid-2027 for the launch of Intergalactic. Things may very well have changed since, so will Sony take a chance and reveal more now, maybe even committing to a vague release window for next year? Or will its current offerings be enough, and instead, it saves the announcement for a later occasion, giving the team more time to figure out where it’s at? Whatever the case, the fact that there’s only one PlayStation Studios console exclusive left for this calendar year means it needs to get the hype rolling for 2027. With NateTheHate claiming other exclusives at State of Play besides Marvel’s Wolverine and Faye’s game, Intergalactic is looking likely.

More MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls Reveals

As the days count down to its August launch, and Arc System Works is less coy about revealing more characters, you can’t tell me it won’t repeat that pattern at State of Play. After all, players have already gone hands-on with the latest build featuring the Fighting Avengers. Maybe this next reveal will accompany an open beta announcement for July to incorporate any remaining feedback. And if ever there was a time for some villains to take center stage, this would be it.

Uncharted Returns

Shaun Escayg, creative director on whatever unknown project Naughty Dog is working on, I’ve come to bargain. That “research photo” in a location that feels more than vaguely fitting for the Uncharted franchise can’t be a fluke, and neither can all those rumors over the years about…something, be it remaster or sequel. Is it finally time to make the big announcement? Will there be a better time later (don’t say The Game Awards)? It’s a strong “maybe” either way.

Break In/Fairgame$

No more content updates for Destiny 2, Marathon not exactly setting the market on fire (even though Season 2 looks good)…who’s to say that Sony won’t just rip the band-aid off and re-reveal Fairgame$? Based on a recent trademark called Break In, it could be renamed, assuming that isn’t just a marketing tagline, and we may see a different (but still vaguely similar) heisting experience. Regardless, you probably shouldn’t expect a shadow drop, seeing as rumored playtests haven’t been going great.

Until Dawn 2 Announcement

Another PlayStation title that’s been a long time coming, but, you know, in a more positive way. Rumored since 2022, after a job description about a “triple-A narrative-driven horror-adventure game” following Sony’s acquisition of Firesprite. Rumored again in 2024 by Xbox Era. And then what should appear at the end of the Until Dawn remake but two new scenes, potentially hinting at something in the future? If it’s indeed happening – and not canned because of that awful movie – then it’s high time for an announcement.

Marvel’s Venom Announcement

While Insomniac Games tinkers away on Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 – rumor or not, you know it’s eventually happening – we may get Marvel’s Venom before. Jason Schreier refuted reports that the project was canned following voice actor Tony Todd’s passing, but its current development state remains unknown. Maybe Insomniac is saving it for a rainy day next Fall, when Sony needs a big exclusive. Hey, if it works for Nintendo and their first-party titles, why not for PlayStation? In that sense, if a reveal happens, a release window remains a toss-up.

Media Molecule’s Next Game

It’s been three years now since Media Molecule wrapped up support on Dreams and confirmed a new project was in the works. More recently, a designer’s portfolio indicated that it features “open-world content.” Correlation doesn’t necessarily imply causation, though – neither of these two things means a State of Play reveal. But maybe the studio will confirm that it’s progressing smoothly, as a treat.

Resident Evil Requiem Story Expansion Reveal

A big announcement like the long-rumored Resident Evil – Code: Veronica Remake at Summer Game Fest, much like Resident Evil Requiem last year, sounds plausible enough. But the company could still unveil something Resident Evil-related before that. A trailer for the story expansion, perhaps confirming that Leon is the star, coupled with a tease of the allegedly included Ada Wong? It’s not impossible, especially with all the updates since Requiem’s launch, but gameplay and a release date may be a bit much.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Update

Speaking of which, it’s now over four years since the next mainline Kingdom Hearts was announced. At this point, we’re beginning to feel as stuck as Sora, desperately seeking something, anything new. With creative director Tetsuya Nomura claiming that the team is “working hard” towards the series’ 25th anniversary, which is next year, any news in 2026 may seem unlikely. But this is Kingdom Hearts and Nomura, so keep an open mind and expect the unexpected.

Untitled John Wick Game

After the surprise announcement of Saber Interactive’s untitled prequel to the blockbuster film series at the last State of Play…well, we want to see more. And since Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake, which Saber took over since splitting from Embracer, is looking unlikely, I’m thinking that maybe John Wick is back again. Here’s hoping he brings an official title for the game this time around.

Episode Mode has "playable battles" everywhere and "nearly ten hours of gameplay in total" with voice acting in ten languages.

Amid all the fancy team reveals, the latest being the Fighting Avengers, there was some concern about the single-player content in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Arc System Works previously discussed its motion comic presentation, but hadn’t clarified whether it included actual gameplay battles.

Well, it finally revealed more details in a recent interview with 4Gamer. The publication initially asked producer Takeshi Yamanaka about a “substantial story mode.” While he said it was “difficult to directly compare the volume of content” to previous games’ stories, there is indeed an Episode Mode for enjoying the story.

“We had a manga artist draw the base manga, and then we added movement to each panel to advance the story, which is a fairly time-consuming way to present it.” With five playable teams, he claims it’s enough to offer “nearly 10 hours of gameplay in total.” It even utilizes the DualSense’s Haptic Feedback and includes voice acting in 10 languages (as opposed to the usual three).

Problems arose, however, when the publication reported that there wouldn’t be any actual gameplay battles. This was later corrected at the behest of Arc System Works, and the response now notes, “In Episode Mode, playable battles are included everywhere. The battle that leads to the content of the story is developed, and it is designed to be casually enjoyed by anyone as if reading a manga, so that you can experience the story more interactively.”

A mistranslation? A mistake, be it from the developer or the publication? Whatever the case may be, such a story mode wouldn’t be out of nowhere. Guilty Gear Strive’s narrative, for example, is completely non-playable.

Regardless, it’s good news for those who want a hefty single-player mode when Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches on August 6th for PS5 and PC. It’s entering the “final stages of development,” but there are still more characters to be revealed, so stay tuned for updates.

Arc System Works' Takeshi Yamanaka says the "entire team is working hard every day to deliver the best possible experience at launch."

Another week during a major fighting game event, this time EVO Japan 2026, Arc System Works dropped a new trailer for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. This time, it introduced a new team, the Fighting Avengers, and while Captain America and Iron Man are old, it featured some fresh fighters in Black Panther and Hulk.

While the developer is bringing the newest build with these characters to Combo Breaker 2026 on May 22nd and Hong Kong Comic Con on May 29th, there are still plenty of reveals to come. That said, producer Takeshi Yamanaka confirmed on the PlayStation Blog that development is “entering its final stages” and that “the entire team is working hard every day to deliver the best possible experience at launch.”

Thus far, 13 characters and five stages (including Wakanda) have been revealed – all playable at the above-mentioned events. Based on rumors, there seem to be 20 characters at launch, so there’s still plenty of time before their reveals. We may even see the new additions included in the Year One Characters and Stage Pass alongside an open beta at some point.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is available on August 6th for PS5 and PC for $59.99. It sees Earth’s mightiest heroes (and a few villains) teaming up to take on each other en route to facing The Champion, an Elder who craves combat and will destroy a planet if he’s not satisfied.

Juggle opponents with Shuri's agility and spear play or smash them with the Hulk's powerful throws and earth-shattering blows.

With EVO Japan 2026 happening over the weekend, ARC System Works and Sony chose the perfect time to drop a new trailer for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Featuring Captain America and Iron Man, it also introduces two new characters for the roster – Black Panther and Hulk. Together, they make up the Fighting Avengers.

Instead of T’Challa, it’s his sister Shuri who’s taken up the Black Panther mantle and opened up Wakanda as a stage. Possessing incredible agility and razor-sharp claws, she further distinguishes her fighting style with the use of a spear. And that’s not enough, she even relies on an armor-clad panther to rush foes.

As for Hulk, well…he’s Hulk. Grabbing enemies, slamming them into the ground with aggressive grapples (even telling Wolverine to “heal from this, runt”) and losing his temporary. His appearance and dialogue seem to suggest this is his World War Hulk avatar, so hopefully the story mode will shine more.

The Fighting Avengers join the Amazing Guardians and the Unbreakable X-Men as the available teams. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches on August 6th for PS5 and PC, and will reportedly feature 20 characters at launch. Four more characters will arrive post-launch in the Year One Characters Pass, so stay tuned for even more reveals in the coming months.
