The documentary video features series producer Kenichiro Tsukuda talking about mechs, and the design of the in-game Arsenals.

While publisher Marvelous and developer Marvelous First Studio have been working on mech action game Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, they have now also released a new video that documents the making of the upcoming title. Titled The Making of Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion – Developer Documentary, the video clocks in at a little over 13 minutes, and you can check it out below.

The video was produced by documentary filmmaker Archipel, and features series producer Kenichiro Tsukuda. The subjects discussed in the video include Tsukuda’s experiences with the mecha genre at an early age and how they ultimately inspired the creation of the original Daemon X Machina, as well as insights into the studio’s approach to making Titanic Scion.

The documentary also features the producer and the development team discussing how they are making use of modern game development tools and techniques to help improve the visuals and gameplay. From a design perspective, it also discusses how the team made use of 3D printing technology to help them come up with the distinct visual look in Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion.

A follow-up to the original Daemon X Machina, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion was first unveiled all the way back in May 2023. The game is under development for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2, and will be hitting store shelves on September 2. The release date was announced alongside the first gameplay showcase for the upcoming title back in April this year.

The trailer gave us a look at quite a few details about Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, including the fact that players will once more get to customize their Arsenal to equip them with the gear they like. Over the course of gameplay, players will be able to take on enemies and collect their parts, which then can be used to improve their own Arsenal. As players get further into the game, they’ll start facing off against Titanic bosses, which can be taken on either solo or as part of a group.

May saw the release of another trailer for Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, this time around giving us an in-depth look at the title’s combat basics. It explained various aspects of the combat in the game, including the ability to equip up to six different weapons, as well as how auxiliary gear can be equipped and used.

The original Daemon X Machina was released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch back in 2019. A year later, the title also made its way onto PC. The story of the game revolved around The Outers—mech pilots that make use of their well-equipped Arsenals to take on enemies known as the Arms of Immortals.

For more details about the original, check out our review, where we gave it a score of 7 out of 10. We praised the tight gameplay and impressive mission variety, while criticising other aspects, including how overwhelming it can feel for some players, as well as the slow, plodding pacing of its story.

Knock down enemies to throw them, rip off their armor, or repurpose a body part from a boss as a weapon, among other tactics.

While it won’t be released in time for the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion is still one of the more notable third-party titles launching this Summer. Boasting some major revamps of the original, particularly the new Arsenal that players pilot, a new trailer outlines what you can expect with the combat mechanics.

For instance, it has slots for equipping up to six weapons, including swords, railguns, bazookas, mid-range rifles, missile launchers, and bows. You can also have auxiliary equipment for support skills, like generating damaging fields. While each weapon type is ideal in different scenarios, enemies usually have hard and soft exteriors.

Hard exteriors are weak to laser weapons, while soft exteriors take more damage from physical weapons. After an enemy is knocked down, you can grab it and either continue attacking, throw it onto other enemies or tear off their armor to expose weak points. If it’s a boss, rip out a body part and wield it as a weapon, as seen against the Grausam.

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion launches on September 5th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 for $69.99.

Control a revamped Arsenal in the fight against the Axiom, salvaging mech parts and taking on Titanic foes alone or in co-op.

Marvelous finally revealed gameplay and details for Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, the sequel to its 2019 mech action title. It also confirmed a release on September 5th worldwide for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and – you guessed it – Nintendo Switch 2.

There are few story details aside from players joining the Reclaimers to battle the Axiom, but once again, you can customize an Arsenal and lay waste to foes. Collecting their parts and weapons lets you use them in your set-up. It’s a straightforward progression loop, but eventually, you’ll go up against Titanic bosses, which can be fought alone or with another player. Interestingly, you can openly explore the world on horseback, on foot or in your Arsenal.

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion retails for $69.99 digitally and physically. The Digital Deluxe Edition is $89.99, which includes an expansion pack with more story content and Arsenal customization items. A Super Digital Deluxe Edition is also available for $99.99 and offers the same content along with a digital art book and soundtrack.

Physical collectors can purchase the Limited Edition for $99.99. It includes a CD with 15 tracks, three flight tags and patches, an acrylic standee and an art book. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the coming months.

Though it didn't provide any details during its showcase, Marvelous said platforms and a release window would be announced later.

Marvelous recently hosted its yearly showcase, and once again, it showcased a teaser for Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion. Though it didn’t provide any gameplay or further details regarding the story, platforms or launch date, it does show a character standing on a charred landscape. Check it out below.

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion is the follow-up to Marvelous First Studio’s 2019 mech action title. Despite the lack of new information, a press release noted that the company will announce platforms and a release window at a “later date.” Hopefully, it won’t take another year, so stay tuned for updates in the meantime.

Daemon X Machina is currently available for Nintendo Switch and PC – check out our review here. The story is about The Outers, who pilot mechs known as Arsenals and battle the Arms of Immortals or AIs. Players can customize their Arsenals with parts gained through single-player missions and even engage in online co-op.

Marvelous First Studio, a subsidiary of Marvelous Inc, has several new projects in the works. It’s currently looking to hire staff for planning and development of “high-end games” for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Action games and RPGs are among those new projects, with a “completely new large-scale RPG” also being mentioned.

As it stands, Marvelous First Studio has a fairly impressive resume. It developed Fate/EXTELLA: The Umbral Star and Fate/EXTELLA Link for XSEED Games, Soul Sacrifice and Soul Sacrifice Delta for Sony and God Eater 3 for Bandai Namco in the past. More recently, it worked on Daemon X Machina, a mech combat title for the Switch (which later came to PC).

Time will tell how long it takes for these projects to release but it should be interesting to see what the studio has cooking for current-gen platforms. For more details on open positions, check out the developer’s site here. Stay tuned for more details on upcoming releases in the meantime.

Anti-aliasing, shadow quality, and other settings can also be adjusted.

Marvelous took many of us by surprise when it announced that its third person action title Daemon X Machina would be coming to PC. Visual and performance improvements are expected, especially given the platform’s added power over the Switch. Game Spark recently interviewed Marvelous USA/XSEED Games about the same and discovered some interesting new details.

A wide selection of framerate options is available, including 30 FPS, 60 FPS, 120 FPS, 144 FPS, and even 200 FPS. Resolutions up to 4K are supported along with ultra widescreen support (though options aside from 16:9 will feature black bands on the screen edges). In terms of settings, players can adjust the anti-aliasing, texture quality (with a high resolution texture option available), depth of field, shadow quality and more.

Mouse and keyboard support is also included. However, it seems that collaboration DLC, namely The Witcher 3, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Eureka Seven High Evolution are not included. Other DLC available is available though and players can expect the same content available in the current Switch version.

Daemon X Machina releases on February 13th for PC. Check out our review of the Switch version here.

Marvelous’ Daemon X Machina has received a new update as part of the post-launch content roadmap. Version 1.2.0 brings a new boss Zelcroa to fight along with some new development equipment. There are also stronger Colossal Immortals to be fought including Gun Fort RT: Omega and Volt RT: Omega.

Last month had a fairly meaty update with Versus Mode which allowed players to partake in 1v1 and 2v2 battles against each other with Ranked and Custom Match options. There was even a Duel feature added to Co-op Mode for up to four players. Collaboration DLC with anime franchises like Eureka Seven and Code Geass have also been confirmed.

Daemon X Machina is currently available for the Nintendo Switch – you can read our official review here. Though it didn’t exactly set the world on release, the development team continues to churn out update. December should be even more interesting with more Reclaimers for co-op, new weapons and armor added. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Partake in 1v1 and 2v2 battles or issue Duels after completing orders in co-op.

Marvelous’ Daemon X Machina has received some PvP features in its version 1.1.1 update. Versus Mode is straightforward enough – it lets you partake in local or online multiplayer combat with Arsenals. There’s 1v1 and 2v2 battles available, along with Ranked Match and Custom Match.

Co-op Mode also has a new Duel feature for up to four players. Simply attack a player after an order is finished to issue the challenge. Once the player attacks back, the Duel is on. It’s a neat way to waste time before heading back to base.

The full patch notes can be seen here, but check out some of the highlights below. More content is on the way in early November with new costumes and Arsenals. There will also be collaborations with “popular franchises”. Later in November, we’ll see new weapons, bosses, and Reclaimers in co-op, followed by more weapons and Reclaimers in December. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
