Match up with other players based on a variety of interests in this new app.

In the mood to connect with other players based on various interests, both in gaming and outside of it? A new “interest-based” matchmaking service for the Xbox One called Overdog has recently launched and promises to do just that.

Promising to be the “first of its kind”, Overdog allows you to create a profile filled with your various interests, ranging from music and movies to Machinima and sports. As you add more topics, you’ll find better matches. There are currently more than 1000 topics to choose from with others to be added based on user feedback.

Director of user acquisition Eric Doty stated that. “We want to take some of the anxiety out of being matched up with someone online. Trying to find someone that will help you finish a co-op mission in Destiny or build a castle in Minecraft right now that loves watching Red vs Blue? Overdog can find the right person for you.”

What are your thoughts on Overdog? Let us know in the comments below.

"You don't need to sell us too hard on the value of matchmaking."

Among the many complaints for Bungie’s Destiny is the difficulty in picking up fireteam members for Raids. Players have been suggesting some form of matchmaking be implemented despite Bungie revealing why it’s pertinent that only closely-knit teams tackle the Vault of Glass.

Community manager David “Deej” Dague spoke about the same on the latest weekly update and revealed that, “You don’t need to sell us too hard on the value of Matchmaking at Bungie. It’s something we helped to pioneer.

“Yet, we understand its limitations. In the recipe of a Bungie game, Matchmaking has always contributed the ingredient of a team built to play one match of competitive multiplayer. As you’ve probably witnessed in recent weeks (or years), many of those fresh allies have failed to go the distance together.

“The Raid was designed for solid teams of killers who have made a commitment to solve a dense and explosive riddle. Most of the raiding parties who have emerged victorious from the Vault of Glass have sworn that one weak link would have doomed their chain. There have been other stories, of course. We’ve heard tell of Guardians who met each other just outside the door that leads into that vault. Strange tales have reached our ears – tales of total strangers who have banded together to see the Raid all the way through to a triumphant finale.

“Those stories surprise us, but the players of our games always have. The best I can do to answer your question is to let you know that you’ve been heard. We’re having conversations about how Matchmaking might support the more challenging activities in Destiny. It’s a start. Keep sounding off about it, and maybe someday some matchmade Fireteam mates will hear you, too.”

Any other changes you want to see in Destiny? Let us – and Bungie – know about it in the comments.

With new game modes of course.

343 Industries has updated Halo 4’s matchmaking lists and brought back King of the Hill. It also introduces a bunch of new game modes using this standard archetype.

The first new mode is Mosh Pit, which is a re-tread of the same mode from Halo 3. Mosh Pit has players fighting to control a single control point that doesn’t move but enhances your shields. If you die, you’ll need to make your way back to the hill again. The second is Stealth King and it equips players with Sniper Rifles, Plasma Grenades and Thruster Packs. You’ll also have Active Camouflage when you’re inside the hill to make life harder for those seeking control.

Other playlists have received some new modes as well, including Oddball to Team Doubles, Neutral Flag to Team Doubles and Neutral Flag to Team Heavies. If you’ve already received the update to match-making, let us know what you think of it in the comments below.
