Game Overview:

Mercenary Kings is a side scrolling shooting game and follows closely to the gameplay mechanics of Metal Slug. Players will have the ability to craft their weapons, armor and a ton of other things. The game consists of 100 missions.

Mercenary Kings is developed by Tribute Games. It is  also published by Tribute Games. The game is now available for the PlayStation 4, PC and MAC.

Sony has confirmed its PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection for April. Subscribers will be able to avail of these games for free and as of April 2nd, titles such as Borderlands 2, Dead Nation Apocalypse Edition and Tomb Raider will be leaving the store.

So what does April hold? For European gamers, there will be access to Mercenary Kings on the PS4, Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 and MotoGP 13. Sly Cooper Thieves in Time and Hotline Miami will also be available for the PS3 with the cross buy option, which allows you to play the game on the Vita as well as console.

North American gamers on the other hand will have Mercenary Kings PS4; Batman: Arkham City, Stealth Inc. A Clone in the Dark and Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse will be available for PS3 while Velocity Ultra and Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD will be available on the PS Vita.

Colour us skeptical but it seems that Tribute Games will be releasing Mercenary Kings on the PlayStation 4 via the PS Store on April 1st. It doesn’t seem to be a joke for now so we’ll just roll with it.

In Mercenary Kings, a side-scrolling 2D shooter, you’ll play as either Empress or King and go on a killing spree on Mandragora Island to rescue Dr. James Neil from C.L.A.W. You can play alone or with up to four players. Tribute Games has experience with such arcade experiences thanks to working on the awesome Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, so it should be a blast here.

Mercenary Kings is about more than just shooting up the bad guys though – you get to choose and assemble your tools of destruction. There are more than 300 gun parts, 100 knives and tons of possibilities for murder. Will you be picking up Mercenary Kings on the PlayStation 4 come April 1st – if it is indeed releasing then? Mercenary Kings is a 2D side-scrolling retro co-op shooting game similar to franchises such as Metal Slug. Those who have faith in the game and want to play it before launches, may do so on July 22nd via Steam’s Early Access for $20.

Mercenary Kings is also one of the first three upcoming indie games along with Secret Ponchos and Don’t Starve for the PlayStation 4. Don’t Starve is already out on PC and is available for $15. Meanwhile, Mercenary Kings will be available on Steam’s Early Access on July 22nd for $20 as pre-launch game, the actual launch date is still unknown.
