Halo 2 

The original Halo was a driving force in creating a substantial market share against Sony and Nintendo, and expectations for the sequel were naturally high. Halo 2 delivered upon those expectations in spades, combining an adrenaline-pumping story with a comprehensive suite of multiplayer options making for an experience that keeps you hooked and doesn’t let go. Hundreds of thousands of fans would have fond memories of duking it out against friends, and Halo 2 might just be the defining Xbox experience for a majority of those fans.

A recent slate of ratings indicated that Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania & Contra would be coming to PC. Out of nowhere, Konami has released all four titles for the platform on GOG. Prices range from $5.99 for the older titles to $9.99 for each Metal Gear Solid title.

While each Metal Gear title has support for cloud saves and controllers, Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania & Contra only seems to have controller support. There don’t seem to be any other enhancements to speak of, either visually or in terms of extra features. It’s as straightforward a release as can be.

This might not be the end of Metal Gear re-releases though. A recent rumor stated that Metal Gear Solid was receiving a console exclusive remake for PS5 (which will come to PC as well). Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and 4 will also apparently be remastered for PC. Take this with a grain of salt for now and stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

Recently, a rumor emerged about Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 coming to PC. Both titles already released for PC so technically, these could be re-releases updated with new features or completely new ports. Though it seemed implausible, the classic stealth titles could actually be set to arrive on PC along with the first Metal Gear.

This is according to recent ratings from the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee. The committee rated Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for PC. It even rated Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania and Contra which includes Castlevania, Castlevania 2 Simon’s Quest, Castlevania 3 Dracula’s Curse, Contra and Super C.

The move isn’t super-surprising especially considering how popular remasters and remakes are these days. Konami could be prepping for an announcement at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online for these ports. How much work has been put into brushing them up remains to be seen so stay tuned. Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online starts today and ends on September 27th.
