Metal Gear Rising was announced at the VGAs, and the developer was revealed as Platinum Games. Everyone was excited for obvious reasons. This is the same studio that gave us Bayonetta and Vanquish. But we have come to know that Hideki Kamiya, who was behind these games and a lot of critically acclaimed ones is not working on Rising.

Does this change everything? Yes, this does change everything.

This is what he had to say.

“Hey everyone, I said 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times that I have nothing to do with Metal Gear Rising,” he revealed in response to the barrage of questions.

This is disappointing news for the game, as Kamiya’s involvement could have made it so much better. But I have faith in Platinum Games, and they will do a good job with it for sure.

It was earlier revealed that Kojipro was working on the story and Platinum Games on the gameplay. Definitely a good combo. Also, take this with a pinch of salt, but we could be seeing Bayonetta 2 next year.

Metal Gear Rising was revealed at Microsoft’s E3 2010 conference, and while we were watching that now, it’s not hard to notice a significant downgrade from the original trailer. The latest trailer revealed at the VGA 2011 was in some ways, disappointing and underwhelming. And that’s just based on the in-game impressions. We can’t seem to help notice that the reveal trailer looked much better than the new one. The graphics looked much better and the swordplay had a meaty feeling to it.
This is the reason, this screenshot comparison, so we can scrutinize it a bit more. Check them out above and according to us, the graphical differences are huge.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising is going through a tough time. No we don’t know what exactly is wrong but we hardly have any information on it. Shigenobu Matsuyama, producer of Metal Gear Solid: Rising has been replaced according to a translation by Andriasang.

This news was revealed by none other than Kenichiro Imaizumi, who is the producer for Kojima Productions. He mentioned it in Twitter of all places, who does that nowadays?!

Matsuyuma has been shifted to another division. Earlier Kojima Revealed that he will be visiting Spike’s VGA 2011 awards to relaunch Metal Gear Solid: Rising. We may be seeing a release date for the game along with some new information on it.

Changes in development staff usually results in problems or at least tells you that something’s wrong but hopefully the Rising team is going on smoothly with the development.

Metal Gear Solid series has sold over 30 million copies in total worldwide, an impressive figure revealed to us today. Next year the franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary, and is one of the longest running franchises ever. The series started in 1987 and has finally sold 30 million worldwide according to Kojima Productions’ manager of public relations, Jiro Oishi.

” The series “Metal Gear” has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. There may be other more impressive record, but if we take into account the platforms and the number of titles in the series, it’s awesome!”

The last numbered Metal Gear Solid game was exclusive to the PS3, and is rumoured to be the last one in the series but it’s you can’t really trust Kojima. Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 HD collection will release this year for the PS3 and the Xbox 360 and Metal Gear Rising starring Raiden will release sometime next year.

Stay tuned to GB for more updates.

Since its introduction on the Playstation back in 1998, the Metal Gear Solid series has gone from strength to strength, with a major title featuring in each console generation. With the finale of Solid Snake in MGS4, the focus has shifted onto supporting character Raiden. With so many other changes being made to the classic formula for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Rising, here’s a brief run down of things to know for those who have lost track.

A new hero (sort of)

Definition: Bad ass

Rather than continuing with the adventures of Solid Snake or Big Boss, Konami are focusing on the travels of Raiden in MGS: Rising. When the blonde-haired wonder was introduced in Metal Gear Solid 2, fans were rather disappointed by his lanky stature and womanly physique. Whilst this a valid concern, Raiden will appear in Rising in the cyborg ninja form that he was in during MGS4. Anyone who has played the fourth Metal Gear Solid game will know that Raiden is a complete bad ass as a ninja, so rest assured that he will be a joy to play in Rising.

Quicker pacing

Raiden's nimble nature will naturally provide a faster game

Ninjas, as a rule, are a lot faster than their non-ninja counterparts. Snake was a great character to control in Metal Gear Solid 4 in spite of his age, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want a chance to control the speed and agility of Raiden in his cyborg ninja form. Rising will give players the chance to utilize Raiden’s full abilities, and the game will be much faster for it. The plot too will have a quicker pacing, with creative producer Shigenobu Matsuyama promising that cut scenes will be kept shorter than in other Metal Gear games to promote a focus on gameplay.

Stereoscopic 3D

It will be great to finally see the world of Metal Gear in the majesty of 3D

Despite it now being many years since its launch, Metal Gear Solid 4 is still one of the best looking titles on the PS3. All the Metal Gear games have always had stunning visuals. Rising will mark a new turning point however, as it will be the first time players will have been able to view the Metal Gear world in 3D (along with the upcoming MGS3 remake on 3DS of course.) Rising will have Stereoscopic 3D support, but only on PS3. PC and Xbox players will have the chance to enjoy the game, but they won’t get the full monty so to speak.
