In a rare break from tradition, Kojima announced that Metal Gear Solid would be coming to a Nintendo system before the 3DS had even launched, highlighting a 3DS port of the game. The port ultimately hit about a year after the system had launched, and while it definitely wasn’t as well done as we had been led to believe it would be, it was still Metal Gear Solid 3, and by definition, that made it a great game.

If you have a 3DS, and have never played Metal Gear Solid 3, the 3DS port isn’t necessarily a bad way to do it- but of course, with the 3DS game having been out of print for ages now, it’s been hard to track down, especially given that there has been no eShop release for the game yet.

Well that changes this Thursday, as Konami confirmed that the game will be hitting the Nintendo eShop on the 3DS on December 18; it will also be extremely cheap, with a budget price of $20. For one of the greatest games ever made? I say that is a damn good deal.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater 3D will be available as a free download via the Nintendo eShop across North America on February 16th.

The demo will allow users to experience the immersion of exploring its incredibly detailed jungle setting. The demo showcases the opening segment of the game, with series hero Snake picking a path through the swamps and foliage of a Soviet jungle in search of an imprisoned scientist.

Nintendo has announced that demos for a number of upcoming big releases for the 3DS will start rolling in tomorrow, starting with Resident Evil: Revelations and Cooking Mama 4. 3DS owners can download these demos for free via the eShop, which will be updated with new demos periodically.

Other games like Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, London 2012 Olympic Games and Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure will also be getting demos very soon.

Konami have announced that Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D will get released on March 8th, 2012.

Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D features an all-new camouflage photography system. Within the game, Snake can alter his ensemble to match and blend in with his immediate environment and the possibilities can range from brick-coloured fatigues within buildings, to the classic camouflage khakis of the jungle. Users can now take a picture of real-life items and create a camo suit based on them – although the extent of its effectiveness will vary depending on how well your pictures blend with Snake’s environment.
