4A Games’ Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition is out now with a detailed video discussing its various technical feats. Thankfully, console players won’t have to wait long to experience the enhanced version. The developer has confirmed that it will be coming to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 on June 18th.

Along with 4K on Xbox Series X and PS5 (1080p on Xbox Series S), the enhanced version will run at 60 FPS. Ray tracing will be present throughout along with options for customizing the field of view. Xbox players benefit from spatial audio and improved controller latency while DualSense’s haptic feedback is supported on PS5.

Those who own the game on previous gen consoles can avail of a free upgrade to current gen versions. A physical version of the game, titled Metro Exodus Complete Edition, will also be coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Xbox One. It includes the base game along with The Two Colonels and Sam’s Story expansions.

4A Games’ Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition has a release date and it’s actually quite soon. The updated version arrives on May 6th for Steam, Epic Games Store GOG and the Microsoft Store with base game owners receiving it for free. Advanced Ray Traced Reflections, DLSS 2.0 support and improvements to the developer’s Ray Traced Global Illumination technology has also been made.

This means that every light source is now fully ray traced. Since this version requires a GPU capable of ray tracing, it will release as a separate game. Taking into account the base game and its DLC, players are looking at about 80 GB of installation space required. Unfortunately, the PC Enhanced Edition won’t be coming to Google Stadia or Amazon Luna.

Furthermore, AMD Super Resolution won’t be supported since it’s not compatible with the developer’s rendering techniques. “However we have our own Temporal based reconstruction tech implemented that natively provides the same or better image quality benefits for all hardware.” Also, in case you’re wondering, there are no plans to add ray tracing to Metro Redux (which includes Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux).

Metro Exodus is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Stadia and Amazon Luna. It will receive Xbox Series X/S and PS5 support later this year, which promises 4K/60 FPS with ray tracing.

While Xbox Series X/S and PS5 players can experience Metro Exodus at 4K/60 FPS with ray-tracing later this year, PC players also have plenty to look forward. 4A Games and Deep Silver have announced the Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition which also has fully ray-traced lighting. Its features actually go beyond current-gen consoles with Advanced Ray Traced Reflections and DLSS 2.0 support exclusive to the PC Enhanced Edition.

Naturally, you’ll need a GPU that supports ray-tracing at the bare minimum. 4A Games also notes that this is more of a separate version of the game rather than a patch due to the extensive work done. All existing owners on PC will receive it for free on Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store.
